The perfect location in New York

Advantages: Brilliant location, modern, big room, huge TV, one of the cheapest hotels
Disadvantages: Breakfast is expensive, toilet blocked a couple of times, not enough lifts

...The Park Central Hotel New York is in a brilliant location on 56th and 7th right in the centre of everything. A 10 minute walk downtown brings you to Times Square, 2 blocks uptown takes you to Central Park, 5th Avenue shopping is just 1 or 2 blocks to the east and a subway station 20 seconds away to take you to wherever else you want to go. Carnegie Hall is directly opposite and the Rockefeller Centre is less than 10 minutes away. The hotel is surrounded by gift shops and cafes and there's a nice little Irish bar just opposite. The location really couldn't get any better. When we first arrived it was difficult for us for find but that was only because we didn't have a map with us and because the grid system is so confusing at first. New York City's Best Kept Secret

Advantages: Small, Cheap, Quick to get around and beautiful animals
Disadvantages: Some animals looked way too hot in the heat we had. Wasn't sure if it was cruel or not?

...With the New York Pass we had the option of visiting two zoos, either the Bronx Zoo or Central Park Zoo. Well Central Park is only about a 20 minute walk from our hotel, so we decided it was probably better to go to this one rather than Bronx Zoo. After a very long day in the 90 degree heat, we finally arrived at the zoo, got our tickets and went straight into the zoo. The first obstacle you?ll face is the photographers, attempting to get more money out of you in the end; we declined as we all looked like utter crap due to the heat. We immediately found a little bit of shelter in the form of this huge gazebo situated in the main part of the zoo, we sat here for a while before going to look at the rest of the zoo. Park Central Hotel

Advantages: Superb location, comfortable accomodation, helpful staff
Disadvantages: No major disadvantages to the actual hotel itself

...In "the city that never sleeps," especially if you're visiting for the first time, it's all about site-seeing, shopping, and taking advantage of New York's endless amount of restuarants. So when choosing a hotel, it's all about location! I took my first ever visit to New York (and certainly not my last, taking into consideration the amazing time I had there) in February 2007, for a school trip, and stayed in Park Central Hotel. FIRST IMPRESSIONS I was delighted when we first arrived at the Park Central hotel - the immaculate lobby and reception area, with brown leather sofas and sparkling floor tiles, was classy and modern. Central Park Zoo

Advantages: Great
Disadvantages: None

...We went to the central park zoo when we were in New York the other week. It was a lot of fun and the animals were beautiful. it was obvious that the animals were very hot though and this came across quite cruel. Any way, the animals looked well looked after, but due to the heat I did think that they would be a little too hot. The snow leopard was gorgeous, she was the most gorgeous animal that I have ever seen. She spent most of the time trying to hide from the heat, but we still got some amazing pictures of her. An amazing zoo, one that I would recommend that you check out if you get to the states, it is cheap as well at only $8. parkfielsd-2006...

A walk in the Park....

Advantages: A wonderful place with so much to see and do
Disadvantages: You need to spend at least a day to see it all

...No visit to New York would be complete without a stroll in Central Park. This 843 acre park stretches from 59th St at it's southern most point to 110 St in the north - some 51 blocks! The park like any big city park provides an oasis of peace and quiet sometimes needed in a hectic city. It is only once you are in the park it's self you realize how big it is and peaceful. Only when you look at the tree line do you realize as you see the Skyscrapers peering throw that you are indeed still in a major city. But it definitely offers that much needed tranquility as well as some wonderful sights to see. If you compare it with say Hyde Park in London then it shines out as a park that has something for everyone and you'll understand why New Yorkers are so proud of their oasis in the madness that is New York. Skating in Central Park

Advantages: Fun
Disadvantages: Cold, pain

...New York gets cold, very cold. It also gets windy which, when it's cold, makes it colder. You can either hide under the duvet some time in December and refuse to come out until April, or you can get out and make the most of the cold. New Yorkers have two skating rinks in Central Park to help you make the most of the cold. The Lasker rink at the north end of the park converts from a swimming pool in the summertime. It is however, less popular, and less safe particularly at night than the Wollman Rink. The Wollman Rink is one you've probably seen before, even if you've never set foot in New York City. It's the rink across which the baddies chased our hero in Home Alone 2, and is currently on the silver screen in the romantic comedy Serendipity. See All of New York For $45

Advantages: An amazing idea, it allowed us to see a lot more of New York
Disadvantages: Not always spaces upstairs, Annoying and Disrespectful Tour Guides

...(Tuesday) we started walking to Central Park, not only were we going in the wrong direction, but a man in a blue coat came up to us asking us to join their bus tour. Around us, we could see hundreds of men, in blue and red waistcoats, all holding laminated pieces of paper. My nan being the sceptical person she is, said no, we?re not buying anything from someone on the street, we don?t know what it is or if it?s any good. Luckily we were just near the Empire State Building, which if you read my previous reviews, you will know it?s right near our hotel, so we padded on back to the hotel to ask about the City Sights New York Bus Tour. The receptionist said she didn?t know too much about that particular bus tour, however, she has dealt with the Grey Line New York Bus Tours and they were supposed to be brilliant. Central Park, Peterborough.

Advantages: An oasis in the city
Disadvantages: None that I know

...I have lived in Peterborough for 37 years, and the Central Park has always been the place to take your children, photos of the park go back to Victorian times and the actual layout has not changed since then. For one it cannot get any bigger as it is in the older central part of the city with buildings all around, though this does not distract from the Park itself. The Park is one large circle with a very wide road around the outside. There are four gates, entry points to the Park and about ten yards in an inner footpath that goes around the Park. The four gates all have footpaths that lead to the centre which is a large flower bed that has a willow tree, this my husband tells me was planted some time in the 60's as there used to be a band stand on the same spot. A hotel in the heart of New York City

Advantages: Great Location, Clean and Friendly Staff
Disadvantages: Views from hotel itself not great, no free wi fi

...My boyfriend turned 30 a few weeks ago and for his present I booked us a trip to New York and the Wellington Hotel is where I picked for us to stay due to its central location in Manhattan. Last Wednesday we flew out to NYC and checked into the Wellington. If you didn't know already this is where part of the Borat film was made, the main scene being where he tries to unpack his things in the lift thinking its his room and so many Borat jokes ensued in the elevators during our stay. The location of the hotel is amazing, its a 1 minute walk from Carnegie Hall, 2 minutes from Central Park and 5 minutes from Times Square and is located on the corner of 55th Street and 7th Avenue. The placement of the hotel was my favourite thing about it as it was just so easy to walk to some of the city's best attractions from here. When we checked in...

New York, New York

Advantages: Fabulous shopping, bargains, great sights
Disadvantages: You will be tired and have foot pain at the end of the trip

...and nothing like I have experienced before. No matter how well you plan it's impossible to see everything, and on my second, third and fourth trips I visited FAO Shwartz, The Rockerfeller Centre, Toys R Us, Barneys, the Wollman Rink in Central Park to skate, Grand Central Station, Bloomingdales in SoHo and loads of other shops that I have probably forgotten about. It's not really a once in a lifetime trip, as I found that once you have been you'll want to go back. I absolutely love New York and would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone. I'm already planning my next trip right now!...
