The London Hilton on Park Lane - It's the Daddy!

Advantages: True five-star oasis of calm and comfort with a few tricks up its sleeve.

...I have just returned, very happy, from the Hilton. I have often returned, happy, from a Hilton, but this has always been - and will always be - THE Hilton. The London Hilton on Park Lane has, always been "The Hilton" and this 28-storey icon is a London landmark that I have wanted to stay in for nigh on 30 years. This weekend, the dream came true. Nor was the bubble burst. Booking I booked on-line through the Hilton website and was offered a rate of just under UKP 128, plus taxes. The room-only room rate of UKP 150 (about $300) was something of a snip and it would have been rude not to accept it; it was about half of what you'd normally expect to fork out for a room in this hotel, which holds some quite extraordinary accolades, including "Best Business Hotel in Europe 2005" and "Daily Telegraph Best British Hotel 2002". Brick Lane

Advantages: Good ending
Disadvantages: quite boring and a bit hard going in places

Brick Lane, the book

Advantages: Funny, thought-provoking
Disadvantages: None for me

...accept her Fate, to 'endure', yet this she struggled to do herself, often in tears & eventually heading for a tragic end. Nazneen is left confused by her mother's strange ways, possibly damaged by the very way she entered the world herself & having to accept that her mother could not endure her Fate. Still, she does her best when she leaves behind her family & the life she knew & is sent to London to marry a man much older than her. Before she leaves Bangladesh, she has nothing but a photograph of the man she will marry, Chanu, to tell her what her husband & new life will be like. Languishing in the lovely Lanes

Advantages: friendly service, great location
Disadvantages: wee bit overpriced for level of facilities

...be debited unless we did not turn up. We booked a a side facing double room which cost £180 altogether (£110 for the Saturday night and £70 for the Sunday). Their prices start at £60 for a single room or a room facing the back and go up to £140 for the sea facing rooms with four poster beds. I felt the prices were perhaps little bit expensive for the facilities offered but I think that is the normal price for a semi decent hotel in Brighton. On of the best things about the hotel is that it is very easy to find being on the seafront. We arrived by coach (the coach park is very central location just behind the pier) and it was only a ten minute walk from there (it's a 15 to 20 minute walk to the North Lanes and other attraction in Brighton ). Not as good as I had expected

Advantages: Good location
Disadvantages: Bathroom not terribly clean, fairly small rooms, over-priced for what it is.

...Hilton has a reputation for running fine hotels all around the world, and so I expected the Hilton park Lane considering its reputation to offer a fine service and I must admit that I was a little disappointed. I booked using points, 40,000 of them in fact! It must be said that hotels in London can be expensive, and I guess considering my room was technically free it was good value! The rooms are an ok size, for central London but they were basic - for a "luxury" hotel I can't deny that I expected a little more. My room to be fair was just a standard king room but considering this is Hilton's flagship hotel in the United Kingdom I didn't think they were anything special. The Hilton website said that it was possible to have an extra single bed put into the room for a third guest, I emailed the hotel before requesting this...

Something more of you can get to easier should my reviews be powerful enough to sway your decision! London has one of the largest selection of hotels in the world and choosing one is certainly very hit and miss. The so called luxury hotels in London can be just that or they can be very poor. Advantages: Centrally located, range of services
Disadvantages: Certainly not classy!

...the room tab, but you can probably pay more and stay in one of the 'executive' (ie larger) rooms on the top 2 floors. As a business traveller you can use the busness lounge, which provides a office like environment. You have access to fax machines (incoming and outgoing) , WiFi (from BT Openzone) and can access wired Broadband. My favourite park!

...I have lived near Wythenshawe park all my life and it?s somewhere I have been many, many times. It is an ideal place for many things and for me it is great for walking the dogs in. I shall give a little bit of information of Wythenshawe park and my personal opinion on it. The location: Wythenshawe park is fairly big and located in Baguley. The park has the long and very busy, main road named Altrincham road on one side of it and the M56 motorway running past it on one side.
