A walk in the Park....
Review of Central Park (New York) by  jo1l

Advantages: A wonderful place with so much to see and do
Disadvantages: You need to spend at least a day to see it all

...No visit to New York would be complete without a stroll in Central Park. This 843 acre park stretches from 59th St at it's southern most point to 110 St in the north - some 51 blocks! The park like any big city park provides an oasis of peace and quiet sometimes needed in a hectic city. It is only once you are in the park it's self you realize how big it is and peaceful. Only when you look at the tree line do you realize as you see the Skyscrapers peering throw that you are indeed still in a major city. But it definitely offers that much needed tranquility as well as some wonderful sights to see. If you compare it with say Hyde Park in London then it shines out as a park that has something for everyone and you'll understand why New Yorkers are so proud of their oasis in the madness that is New York. It was way back in 1856... Read review

I'D PARK MYSELF IN THE PARK INN ANYTIME
Review of Park Inn Hotel Heathrow Airport, London by  gemax2

Advantages: Excellent location, Trendy hotel, Easy to get to, Lovely rooms & Great facilities
Disadvantages: Car Parking is a little tricky & Food & drink prices can be quite high

...Having booked my New Year break in November 2004 I decided I would need to book an airport hotel to make sure I got my flight on time. I live in the Midlands and would find it really difficult to get down to Heathrow for 6am especially at holiday time. I haven't stayed in any airport hotels in London before so I really wasn't sure what to book and what to look for. As I work for a holiday company I do get a 50% discount on airport hotels so it really depended on what they could offer me. My family initially wanted to book the Holiday Inn which was fine with me but my company couldn't book this one so I had about 4 others to choose from and the Park Inn sounded the most appealing as it seemed the closest to the airport and probably the most easiest to get to. PRICES and HOW TO BOOK I booked directly with my company and got a twin room... Read review

Water and a Park... Kingsbury Water Park
Review of Kingsbury Water Park by  Fruity_Tart

Advantages: Cheap, a nice day out
Disadvantages: could probably be a bit boring for older kids

...*edited thanks to DrChazan's excellent advice!* On Monday, the kids school had (another) teaching training day and after our next door neighbour heard me screaming at the kids for the 100th time by 11am, he suggested Kingsbury Water Park. I'd never heard of it, so full of excitement me and Mark got the kids into the car and set off with a boot full of sarnies and crisps. Kingsbury Water Park is situated in Bodymoor Heath (just down the road from the Villa training ground). It covers 600 acres and inside all those acres lie 15 lakes. It was opened in 1975 and currently attracts more than 280,000 visitors a year. It was originally a series of sand and gravel pits but in the early 70's Warwickshire County Council decided to transform it into a Water Park. Half of the used up gravel pits were filled with water and thousands... Read review

Nicco Park - It's Park Full of Amusements
Review of Nicco Park, Calcutta by  anonymili

Advantages: Fun day out for all of the family
Disadvantages: Really poor toilet facilities

...Nicco Park is in Salt Lake which is on the north-eastern side of Calcutta, India. It's basically an amusement park - Calcutta's Disneyland if you will. It was opened in 1991 and has amused locals and tourists ever since with it's 40 acres of park and rides for all age groups. Nicco Park was the first amusement park in India to receive ISO 9002 accreditation. I have visited Nicco Park twice in the last five years when visiting Calcutta, the first time I went was back in 2004 and most recently I went in December 2007, having thoroughly enjoyed myself on both occasions. It's best to allow yourself the best part of the day to explore Nicco Park and it's much more fun in you are in a group of people with varied tastes so you can all go on different rides with each other and people don't feel deprived if you are too scared too go... Park Life!
Review of Tussuads Thorpe Park, Surrey by  daylehall

Advantages: reasonable priced, rides located near to each other, good disabled access
Disadvantages: Long queues, rides sometimes break down

...GETTING THERE In 2006 I visited Thorpe Park a grand total of 3 times. I live in Dover, Kent and it took us 90minutes to get there. Thorpe Park is well sign posted from the M25 onwards so finding the park is relatively easy. Thorpe Park is situated between junctions 11 and 13 of the M25 but access from Junction 12 is not possible from the M25. TICKET PRICES We paid £28.50 each for an adult entrance ticket to the park. If you book online you can make a saving of £5.50. Thorpe Park gives you the option of getting something called a Fast Track ticket, which basically means that you get to jump the queue on the main rides. You will be allocated with a ticket and they tell you a time to arrive for each ride. You turn up at the given time and use the 'fast track' queue and you literally get on the ride in 5 minutes... My new favourite Heathrow car park
Review of Courtlands Parking, Heathrow by  koshkha

Advantages: Great service, short transfer times
Disadvantages: Not suitable if you don't like other people to move or park your car

...Remember those T-shirts that used to say 'My parents went to XXX and all I got was this lousy shirt?'. Well this review is a 'Koshkha went to Sweden and all she reviewed was the car park' Many regular ciao readers will know that I love to travel but I hate most of the fuss associated with going places. Packing is my number one hate but second to that is finding decent car parks that don't cost several body parts. Flying is relatively cheap these days but parking seems to get more expensive every year. Back in August I'd booked some flights from Heathrow to Stockholm to visit friends but because I couldn't remember when I'd booked and I had sunk into a phase of 'it's Christmas, I'm going to be pathologically lazy' I kept putting off the job of finding a car park. Finally, two days before departure, my lethargy caught up with me and... Read review

Weston Park, Sheffield
Review of Weston Park, Sheffield by  micksheff

Advantages: Easily Accessible
Disadvantages: Quite Small

...Weston Park is the closest Public Park to Sheffield's City Centre and is probably best known for being the location of the Weston Park Museum, the City's oldest Museum. The Museum closed in March 2003 for a major refurbishment and was due to re-open in the autumn of 2005. This renovation cost £17 million and was partly funded by National Lottery money. However major structural problems that were discovered during this refurbishment meant that the Museum only finally re-opened its doors to the Public on Saturday 14th October 2006. The Museum is completely free to enter and is a fantastic place to visit but the rest of the Park should also not be ignored. Weston Park covers a 5 acre site nestled between buildings that belong to the City's University and directly adjacent to the Children's Hospital. This location makes it one... Read review

Norfolk Heritage Park, Sheffield.
Review of Norfolk Heritage Park, Sheffield by  micksheff

Advantages: A Peaceful Place In The Heart Of The City
Disadvantages: Some Occasional Vandalism

...Norfolk Park is situated about one mile South-East of Sheffield City Centre and covers an area of 70 acres. It is one of six major City Parks and one of the reasons why Sheffield is one of the greenest Cities in Britain. It is a place that I visit often as it is quite literally on my doorstep, but it is also a place that I try not to take too much for granted. THE HISTORY Norfolk Park has a long history and in fact it is actually one of the oldest Public Parks in England. The majority of Norfolk Park was given to the Sheffield City Council in 1910 by one of the largest landowners in the area, the Duke of Norfolk. The Jervis Lum Woodlands, an area of ancient Woodland, which is now incorporated within the Park was given to the Council in 1956. However the Park itself, which is now known as the Norfolk Heritage Park, thanks... Read review

Queue Park
Review of Tussuads Thorpe Park, Surrey by  heatherrr13

Advantages: Good Rides, Everything Close Together, Family Day Out
Disadvantages: Long Queues, No Shade, Expensive

...I have been to Thorpe Park on a number of occasions over the last few years. The university I went to was about a 15 minute drive away from the park, so it was one of the places we went to at least once a year. I’ve always had a good overall time there, though when I visited last weekend there were a few downsides to the park that somewhat let down our visit. Although some of these factors are things that are not necessarily in the park management’s control, I personally felt that there should be more measures in place to combat this type of thing. Anyway, let me explain. Last weekend, me and three friends of mine decided to head over to Thorpe Park. We had decided a couple of weeks in advance to go, as I had received some 2-for-1 ticket vouchers in the post recently, so we picked a Sunday and crossed our fingers for sun. As we woke... BCP Airparks Handforth Dean Car Park
Review of Manchester Airport Parking by  paulpry118

Advantages: Secure Parking
Disadvantages: None that I could find

...Our recent holiday to Turkey was unavailable from our local East Midlands Airport, so we ended up once again flying from Manchester. We have flown from Manchester a few times now so this is no problem, however it is about an hour and a quarter drive from our home in Derbyshire. With taking the car we then need to find somewhere to park for the duration of the holiday so we tend to use the BCP Airport Parking, car park name of Airparks Handforth Dean. We booked our parking through the Travel Agent, however, I have in the past booked direct on-line, which saves about 50p. When booking through the travel agent you are handed a voucher which consists of a two page A4 document. This document contains your booking reference with your name and booking date on. Car park name, address and telephone number, the airport you are flying from... Read review
