* It's a Gas Gas Gas Man . .

Advantages: A very good cooker.
Disadvantages: Not a lot.

..., and you do not catch yourself on it as the handles are curved. Unfortunately this model comes in boring white or black only, and has the obligatory basic one year guarantee. Many makers now offer more than a single year, usually two at least. These gas appliances should be fitted by a Corgi registered fitter, and if you ever have an emergency concerning gas, you should ring Transco on 0800 111999 I like this cooker, everything seems easy to use, the two ovens are a practical idea, and save fuel. The appearance of the cooker is very stylish. I must say that this particular model, is no longer being made, so I will not give current prices, however, the ones they do make seem identical to mine. These cookers are made by Stoves Limited, part of the Glen Dimplex Home Appliances Group. The Stoves company was established in 1920, and have...

What to look for in a gas cooker

Advantages: Cheaper than electricity, faster, good range of cookers
Disadvantages: None

...- the hinging mechanisms of the lids often go. Because they have a lid to cover the burners they have to have extra safety devices on to cut the gas off if you close the lid when a burner is lit. Unfortunately, when you lift the lid back up the gas starts coming out of the burner again without being lit. Some makes, such as New World, actually turn the taps back off by means of a worm-drive on the taps, which is a good safety feature. However, the more features an appliance has, the more there is to go wrong. These things can be very expensive to replace. SERVICING Cookers do need servicing, but by keeping the burners clean and washed yourself, you will not need professional servicing too often. If you don't keep the cooker clean, the burner ports block and with the heat the blockage becomes hard and can't be removed, so it doesn't burn...

Review of Member Advice on Gas Cookers

Kona Cowan Frame Review. Light, strong and lovely to ride.

Advantages: Excellent lightweight and bomb-proof frame. Strong durable components.
Disadvantages: Slightly pricey with mid-range components.

...In 2006 I purchased a 2005 Kona cowan frame that i could custom build. This review is based on my experience on using the frame rather than the full bike supplied by Kona. Despite this I can comment on the specification and value for money of the full bike. The best feature of this bike is certainly the frame, retailing at around £499 alone. The components on this bike are chosen based on there performance as jump bike components. Taking into account what this bike will be used for, all the components are strong and durable. The more you pay for bike components, the lighter and more efficient they become without sacrificing any strength. The components on this bike are fairly average when compared to the quality of the frame. Therefore I think the bike is a touch over priced at £1000 rrp, but certainly worth the money. The frame itself...

British Gas

Advantages: gas seems fine
Disadvantages: telephone nightmare

...British Gas I felt I had to write this review after having to deal with this company for the first time and being pretty disappointed. Having moved into a new flat and coming from a flat where all the bills were included in the rent meaning never having to deal with all these companies and now having to set up all the new accounts for things such as electricity, gas and water I found this company particularly tiresome to deal with. We were meant to phone up on the day we moved in to the new flat and pass over all the readings on the meters and the correct information to set up new accounts and the such like. I had no problems at all when contacting the water supplier and the electricity supplier but when it came to the gas this was more of a problem that I could of dreamed. After phoning up the main line for British...

Money burned by British Gas

Advantages: Large company, synergy, many products offered.
Disadvantages: Price hikes, deparments don't talk to each other

...UPDATE 28.11.08 When I wrote the review below, prices had gone up by 50% since January 2008, with British Gas agents profusely blaming rise in oil prices for rises in both Gas and Electricity. Fair point? By July oil was at a record $147 a barrel at its peak. Since then oil has collapsed to a 2 year low of $52 a barrel and still falling, I spoke to British Gas about this -- they say that gas is already in the system paid for at the old prices! On Radio 4's Today program, they continued along this line when pressed about price rising the moment oil goes up, but stubbornly high when oil comes down. Remember, not a penny has come off gas or electricity - yet when the first wave of oil price rises began in January 2008, gas prices went up by 15% and a further rise of 35% in August. It is now five months on, and British Gas...

Review of British Gas

Diamond review  British Gas make a complete hash.

Advantages: None that I can think of...oh..they have the word "British" in their name
Disadvantages: Customer Service (lack of), Prices, Attitude...oh everything really

...The name "British Gas" always had that comfortable ,solid feel to it. To me it always invoked a sense of something reliable, but probably expensive. Quality service that wouldn't let you down. A company you could trust. Ok, probably a bit pricey, but you knew they'd come up trumps for you. In a way, something akin to the AA (the so called "4th Emergency Service). Best engineers, best service, best of British.. and all that. Hey, I can already hear you sniggering ?. Now I admit I wasn't a customer of BG, as an adult, so my impressions of them were not first hand. These were just memories of living with the parents and what I envisaged when I heard the name. It just had that good wholesome feel to it. When you needed an emergency Gas engineer, you looked in the phone book for British Gas - not some local 'cowboy' Oh how...

British gas

Advantages: NOTHING AT ALL
Disadvantages: everything!

...When I moved into my flat there were two reasons I decided to choose British Gas as my Gas supplier. Firstly there was already a British Gas Pre Payment meter installed, and secondly I chose them because they were a well known name. Well, if only I?d done some research first I could have saved myself a whole lot of bother. My first problem was actually finding a number to ring to get the supply connected. I tried the Yellow Pages and the Thompson local, but although they had a full page add on the back of the Yellow Pages it was for buying a fireplace, not connecting the gas supply. Never mind I thought, I?ll give it a ring anyway, and maybe they?ll be able to give me the number I need. Anyway, they put me on hold for about 10 minutes and then the woman (sounding very huffy) gave me the number I needed. So I rang the number...

British gas poor service

Advantages: breach of contract
Disadvantages: poor service

I found it impossible to access you on-line or through your website. Many in our age group would not even attempt to contact you via the website even if it was user friendly to senior citizens or anyone. More than just cookers

Advantages: Large range of big name appliances
Disadvantages: None

...side of the screen there is 4 boxes. 1: COOKERS 2:OVENS, HOBS & HOODS 3: WASHING MACHINES ( integrated appliances) 4: REFRIGERATION Navigating any of these main areas works in the same way so I will concentrate on the COOKER section, as it?s the first on the list. Once you click on the COOKER box you are given 2 options, 1: Free standing 2: Range type once you have decided on which type , the next option list is , 1: Gas 2: Electric 3: Dual fuel Again once you have decided on which type you are given a list of manufacturers, Baumatic Belling Cannon Leisure Newworld Stoves As you can se they only deal with the main manufacturers so you know the items are of good quality. When you click on the manufacturers name i.e. Belling all the cookers bearing their name are shown , Each has...

British Gas

Advantages: nationally known company
Disadvantages: no sense of cutomer service or reward for loyal customers

...well british gas what can i say! i have been a british gas customer for 8 years now. i have a 2 bedroomed house and 2 children. i have a gas combi boiler but no gas fire and no gas hob ( so the only time i use gas is for hot water and heating) my payments for gas and electricity have been roughly the same for years now. i paid approx 25 for gas and 36 for electric ( a month by direct debit) i always get a rebate in the summer on both ( roughly £30) so i was more than happy with this account, i never missed a payment and never had any trouble. well recently i was alarmed to receive a letter telling me that my gas was going up to £49 and my electric £64 a MONTH! i phoned them and asked why and was told that it was a 'restructuring' and could not be changed. i obviously was not happy and immediately cancelled my direct debits i...
