Kona Cowan Frame Review. Light, strong and lovely to ride.
Advantages: Excellent lightweight and bomb-proof frame. Strong durable components.
Disadvantages: Slightly pricey with mid-range components.
...In 2006 I purchased a 2005 Kona cowan frame that i could custom build. This review is based on my experience on using the frame rather than the full bike supplied by Kona. Despite this I can comment on the specification and value for money of the full bike. The best feature of this bike is certainly the frame, retailing at around £499 alone. The components on this bike are chosen based on there performance as jump bike components. Taking into account what this bike will be used for, all the components are strong and durable. The more you pay for bike components, the lighter and more efficient they become without sacrificing any strength. The components on this bike are fairly average when compared to the quality of the frame. Therefore I think the bike is a touch over priced at £1000 rrp, but certainly worth the money. The frame itself...

IVE GOT GAS - OF THE LPG VARIETY
Advantages: Cost, Improves range, Energy reliance, green, improving technology
Disadvantages: Small amount of petrol to start
...My LPG conversion was installed a year ago I had being toying with the idea for a while. after hearing my partners uncle had it on a Lexus I took the plunge. 2 grand a small wheel like tank in tool slot at rear of vehicle and it was installed. The LPG can be switched between petrol and LPG and the fact you can have a tank of petrol and a tank of Gas gives your car a longer range. The LPG tank is full for £20 as oppose to £30 for half a tank of petrol - such a big difference but the car needs a small amount of petrol to start so I keep a quarter of a tank of petrol in usually just for that purpose. If you get the LPG system installed correctly the car doesnt suffer much loss in power. I was made aware of rally cars with 200hp engines running on gas and I also drove a converted vauxhall calibre that really flew, overtaking was easy...

Morphy Richards Rice cooker - Too clever for me!
Advantages: An easy way to cook rice dishes
Disadvantages: Not suitable for small families due to the minimum cooking quantity
...A few months ago I read a review about a rice cooker and thought that, yes I could do with one of them. I settled on the Morphy Richards 48744 as to be honest that was the only one offered on the fact finders website and I thought I would use up some of my points.
.
The Rice and Pasta cooker is a mirrored silver colour with black handles with a toughened glass lid with a black handle and a steam hole. The cooker is 21 cm high without lid or 24cm with the lid and 28cm in diameter plus handles makes it 36cm. The cable is 90cm long. It fits nicely into one of my top wall mounted kitchen cabinets if the lid is turned upside down. The cooker is supplied with a pasta cooking pad, which is like a round piece of clear/white rubber with holes in it, a plastic measuring beaker and a small plastic white spatula. Inside the machine is a large...

LPG should you? My experiance as a guide.
Advantages: Cost if done right
Disadvantages: Cost if done wrong
...I have been running on LPG for a little over five years now, and covered a shade under 220,000 miles in two cars.
The first car was a Honda Accord 2.2 Coupe that had 65,000 miles on the clock when I had it converted to gas. Used was a cheap and basic OMVL kit. This basically converted an injection engine, into a carburettor engine by inserting little more than an open pipe into the inlet manifold, allowing the engine to suck the gas into the cylinders for combustion. Luckily the engine was powerful enough to start with to compensate for the resulting drop in power. There was a cylinder in the boot behind the back seats which made the boot one foot shorter, but I still retained the full sized spare wheel. The engine was from the ultimately reliable Honda stable so; all the problems that I could/should of have had with such a cheap...

Stoves 550 WL Freestanding Cooker
Advantages: Relatively robust , reasonable value., practical colours
Disadvantages: Grill door must remain open when in use
...I purchased the silver version of this freestanding gas cooker and grill some 10 weeks ago. The cooker is available finished in either silver or gold enamel which appears to be quite robust and hard wearing. The cooker top is black as are the sides. I thought the WL stood for without lid, but it seems from the instructions that it means waist level. This was clearly lost on me at the time of purchase but I did not require a glass lid in any case.
Beware confusion in the listed title description of this product. It is certainly not for LPG (liquid propane gas connection) and this is specifically mentioned in all the literature.
The 550 version is 55 cm wide and if you have the space, well worth upgrading to 55cm cooker, since it is surprising just what extra can be fitted into the oven when friends arrive.
With catalytic...

It's no slow cooker....
Advantages: versitile and time saving
Disadvantages: none
...the kitchen and with the ceramic insert doubling as an oven dish you get extra value. It is also worth taking into account that it uses very little elctricity to run, far less than running an oven for an hour or so.
--------------------
Using your slow cooker:-
Choose your dish, prepare your ingredients...chuck them in, switch on and go and enjoy the day..Then come back a few hours later and enjoy your meal !!!
The only things that you realy need to know is that meat is much better if very lightly fried to seal in the juices, and although this is not nessasary if you don't your meat can have almost a slimey texture.
It is always worth bearing in mind that slow cookers work by keeping the moisture sealed in..so the less times you lift the lid the better !!!
Meals such as porridge and rice dishes need less cooking so...

LPG Vehicles,Should you or Shouldn't you
Advantages: Cheaper fuel costs/extended service intervals
Disadvantages: Finding petrol stations that sell LPG
...At the time I was driving an Alfa romeo 145 Cloverleaf,Any one that knows of these vehicles are aware that they can be a little heavy on petrol with the 2.0 16v engine.A friend of mine suggested I look into an LPG conversion,I read a few reviews as I was not sure how a second hand car with 50.000 miles on would react,Decided that the car was worth investing in the price of the conversion.
My first dilema was what sort of tank to use,ie a doughnut tank in the spare wheel well or a free standing tank in the boot area,I wanted a fairly decent range on mileage so opted for a tank in the boot as the wheel well was to small to fit the size of tank I required.
The conversion was carried out by a local mechanic & other than a few teething problems with the initial set up I knew I had made the right choice. The car ran fine on the conversion...

Not exactly practical but we manage!
Advantages: Eye Level Grill
Disadvantages: Not really practical for a large family
...We have owned this Gas Cooker for 4 years now and we have been very impressed with its rapid cooking times, its easy access eye-level grill and spacious storage drawer located underneath the oven.
The Hob has four burners -
1x Rapid
2x Normal
1x Simmer
it also comes with an ignition.
The Grill has a variable heat control and ignition, we mainly use the grill for toast, bacon, burgers and sausages and we have found it cooks them to perfection.
The oven is large enough to accomodate an average/large christmas turkey aswell as space for roasties and whatnot, the oven still really is not big enough for our large family of six but we manage, the oven also comes with variable temperature control with gas marks varying from 1/2 to 9 and an Ignition.
The oven does lack a clock or timer, but makes up for it with its very spacious...

Having Essex LPG convert your Petrol car
Advantages: Cheap motoring, Cheaper VED (Road Tax)
Disadvantages: Time to convert it, lose a bit of luggage space
...considerably sturdier than a petrol tank and there are safety cut off valves that click in when the ignition is off. I'm no expert on this but I have used the kit for two months on two cars and it's been fine.
On the road. You start the engine on petrol and once it warms up it switches to gas. That's it. No input from you. There is a small postage stamp sized box on the dash that has LED's on it. One green and one red you're on petrol. Flashing red - it's switching to LPG . Two green - you're on LPG. There are four smaller green LED's that tell you how much gas you have in the tank. In the centre there's white button that you can manually switch to Petrol if you want and back. But it's not necessary to have any input at all- it's all automatic. Switch over is set to engine temperature and Rev's I believe.
Cost. My wife's Xtrail was...

Enough of fast food - use a slow cooker.
Advantages: Easy to use and efficient
Disadvantages: Hard to clean
...I'll start with the best bits about the cooker:
From the moment I bought the appliance, I have had next to no trouble with it(see worst bits).
It comes in bubble plastic so it's not damaged and its all ready to plug in. Once plugged in, you're up and away!
It's made of strong, white porcelain which would be hard to crack. There is a layer of metal around which provides the heat, although there is an ever-cool coating on the outside so you can't get burned.
The porcelain dish is removeable so once the meal has been cooked, the dish can be removed and placed on the table ready to serve.
There is a glass lid which is very helpful. With a lot of slow cookers i have had, the lid has been the same colour as the dish and so i could not see in. Having a see-through lid ensures you know how well the food is cooked and if it's boiling, etc...
