RHS Gardens Wisley
Advantages: Lovely day out
Disadvantages: you need reasonable weather!
...the least favourable before leaving home often were the best from the kids point of view by the time they wrote their journal! It has also given three of them a lifelong love of writing and three write on this site! (We do sometimes go to Theme Parks, in case you think I have deprived my family!!!!)
There we have it. So here we are off to Wisley Gardens at last! Be fair, you never go anywhere for a day out without having a bit of a journey first!
I have known Wisley Gardens all my life, as I come from Surrey and about 15 minutes by car away from Wisley. I went several times as a young girl and once again in my early twenties. We then moved to Hampshire and I did not visit Wisley again until last summer (2001). I joined the RHS last year, which costs me about £29 a year for me, and a guest and then I do not have to pay admission! Great...

A Park built for a King!
Advantages: views across Perth city and Swan River, free.
Disadvantages: None
...King's Park and Botanical Gardens are located at the East edge of Perth city centre and overlook the city and Swan River. They are situated on a hill so give fantastic and free views across the whole city and beyond.
Below is a link to getting maps of the park and all its facilities and any information onm things but I have described some of these below as well!
http://www.kpbg.wa.gov.au/home/index.html
The park has 2 cafes, a restaurant, 2 kiosks and a craft shop for quality contemporary Australian craft and design.
***GUIDED WALKS***
If you want to learn about the flowers and the views and about Perth itself, then take a guided walk with one of the volunteer guides. These are FREE (!!) and are run everyday at 10am and 2pm and if there are less than 10 of you then there is no need to book - just turn up to Fraser Avenue...

About Each Track
To The Moon And Back
"I would fly to the moon and back
If you'll be, if you'll be my baby..."
This track is about a woman who feels unloved and uncared for so she keeps away from human affection.
The track's theme is a futuristic hyperbole but it is a very romantic song. I like the intro that has a robotic sound effect which is followed...

A garden to die for!
Advantages: Plenty to see and do for both adults and children
Disadvantages: None
...Garden consists of a number of themed gardens, water sculptures - some of which are interactive, woodland walks, visitor centre and cafe and restaurant.
Ten years ago the garden site was derelict. Then the Duchess of Northumberland had a vision of creating a garden for families to enjoy, and from this vision, the project began.
To this day, things are still being added to the garden, and it is being created by celebrated Belgium designers Jacques and Peter Wirtz. Their unique approach to garden design is rarely seen in public areas, so this garden provides a unique opportunity to see their work.
On entering the garden, there seemed to be so much to explore and it was much larger than I imagined. We set about visiting the different gardens and features of the park.
THE PAVILION AND VISITOR CENTRE - this contains places to eat, drink, shop...

Busch Gardens
Advantages: read opp
Disadvantages: read opp
...Well having wanted to visit Busch Gardens on a number of occasions and unfortunately not being given the chance, I felt I had to visit the place during my recent visit to Florida. I had always heard mix reactions about the theme park, some complimenting it, whilst other simply saying it was not there thing. Nevertheless, I was still determined to visit it, at least once to squash the rumours and determine for myself whether this place was thumbs up or thumbs down.
History of Bush Gardens Africa (Tampa Bay):
Bush Gardens is the name of two of the biggest theme parks in America, one in Tampa Bay, Florida, and the other one in Williamsburg, Virginia. Bush Gardens is currently owned by Busch Entertainment Corporation.
Busch Gardens Africa was first opened in 1959, and was a 340 acre African themed, safari park. The park was...

Cotswold On The Cheap!
Advantages: Loads of animals, cheap, they are involved in conservation projects
Disadvantages: Dosg are not allowed in all section
...I recently had a week away in Gloucestershire with my best friend and our dogs. We stayed in a little cottage and planned to see as many attractions as we could in a week. While looking though a brochure of all the local attractions, I spotted one called Cotswold Wildlife Park and Gardens and was really pleased to see that we were allowed to take the dogs with us for a day out.
History
In 1923 the Manor House and Estate (that is now the park) were purchased by Colonel Heyworth-Savage and when he died in 1948, the estate was passed to his grandson John Heyworth who is the current owner. In 1969, he decided to open the gardens to the public. The Victorian Manor House that dominates the park is a listed building.
Cotswold Wildlife Park is set in 160 acres of gardens and houses an amazing collection of birds, reptiles and mammals...

Beautiful Birdland
Advantages: Birds all look happy and healthy, nice enclosures, good value for money
Disadvantages: Not enough for a full day out
...For Christmas, my boyfriend bought me and weekend away in the Cotswold for me, my boyfriend and our two dogs. We actually stayed there last weekend, which was the last weekend in March. While we were there, we visited various attractions, one of them being Birdland Park and Gardens.
Birdland Park and Gardens is located in Bourton-on-the-Water which is an extremely picturesque town and the perfect location for this attraction. We parked in a pay and display car park which was about a 10 minute walk away from the entrance to Birdland, although we later found out that there is actually a car park right next door to Birdland itself so parking really shouldn't be an issue.
Opening Times
Birdland has seasonal opening times. It is open from 10am until 6pm from April until October and then opens from 10am until 4pm between November...

The Garden on the Downs
Advantages: Easy to get to and small and shady enough to enjoy without getting exhausted in the heat.
Disadvantages: Hilly in places.
...is difficult, be warned that although the pathways are stable, there are several hills and slopes you need to climb in order to see everything. I would certainly have been happy to have dreamed the whole day away there.
Facilities:-
There is a large free car park near to the entrance of the garden.
Toilets are available before you enter, though be warned that these are public toilets provided by the council. They are very basic and sort of clean, but you might need a peg for your nose!
Before you go into the garden, look at the interpretation boards that have been put up on display and also take one of the leaflets which will show you where to go in the garden and what you will find there.
In the garden there is plenty of seating for those who need to sit down frequently or want to have a picnic.
If you...

Fit for a King
Advantages: Plenty to do. Cute penguins
Disadvantages: Not good for those who don't like birds
...Birdland Park and Gardens is in Bourton-on-the-Water, which I have been to many times. It is my favourite place in the Cotswolds and I practically go there every year. Yet I've never been to Birdland to my memory. I say this as I was informed that I had been there when I was a toddler. I'm hardly going to remember that though. Still I'd park right next to Birdland and walked passed it many times and thought it looked like it wouldn't be that good.
That was until recently. I went to Bourton-on-the-Water with my boyfriend and Gran. My Gran had been with me on many occasions but like me not been to Birdland (in her case it was never though!) and my boyfriend hadn't been there at all. After pottering about the village we decided to take a wander around it. The main reason being as my Gran can't walk far and is in a wheelchair and all...

The Spice Garden - No Garden, Plenty of Spice
Advantages: Light airy conservatory, pleasant service, good value for money
Disadvantages: Nothing out of the ordinary
...Another week brought another visit from my hungry curry-loving colleague Joep. I had no plans for the evening and asked if he wanted to have dinner. His eyes lit up; "Can we have curry?" he asked excitedly. And so at around 6.30pm we left the office to go in search of a new curry restaurant that we'd not tried before. I'd spotted the Spice Garden on my way to work that morning and decided that this time it would get our custom. The world (well the UK anyway ? and India, Bangladesh, Pakistan etc?..you get what I mean) is full of curry restaurants and in the middle of a recession we should spread our pennies around and try to support a new one each time until we run out or get food poisoning.
I got lucky and found a parking space right in front of the restaurant. It's on New Chester Road in Bromborough, about a mile off the M53, close...
