Dont breakaway from Kelly Clarkson

...This is by far my favourite Kelly Clarkson album. I have every every album by her so far. Her first album, just after winning American Idol back in 2002 didnt really do a lot for me, a bit too cheesy and 'pop' for my liking. I guess she didnt really have a big say in what she recorded back then. Good news is, her style seems to have changed. Now more toward a pop/rock kinda sound i find im really liking her again. Choice of genre was a little bit of a shock to some listeners, thinking she'd stick to the safe ballad route but good on her for going for something different. Breakaway; Clarkson shines on sophomore outing.

...It's easy to look at Kelly Clarkson for what she supposedly is; a manufactured pop puppet. The winner of the original American Idol, Texan native Clarkson showed enough diversity (and more importantly, quality) to burst the reality bubble and produce a rather decent debut album, entitled 'Thankful'. Despite leaning heavily on the idea of the infamous 'ballad', the album showed her vocal strengths, and more importantly, enforced the fact that her American Idol victory was no fluke. 2 years on, and still going fairly strong in peoples opinions, Kelly returns with her sophomore album 'Breakaway'; an apt title if ever I've heard. Surprising Picture Quality - Panasonic DVD-S54

Advantages: Incredible picture quality when compared to my old non-upscaling player with a scart lead
Disadvantages: Sometimes disc drive can be really noisy when DVD's initially load.

Admittedly it was a slightly selfish purchase as we both live at home and wanted to watch DVDs on the big new TV ourselves! We bought the player from the electrical retailer Comet for about £100 just before Christmas so there were no discounts applied. On Christmas day when opened we found a relatively small box tightly packed with the player in polystyrene packaging. Classic, satirical Clarkson.

Advantages: A hilarious read. A large variety of subject matter, brilliantly used for humourous effect.
Disadvantages: Best read in short burts. Dry humour may wear thin after prolonged reads.

Advantages: Very funny, huge variety of subject matter, lots of book for your money, informative, passionate
Disadvantages: Doesn't suit being read in one go, topics recycled and stale towards end

...Born To Be Riled is good. It's probably not Jeremy Clarkson's best book, but it certainly makes for great reading, either as a bedtime book, where the short columns are ideal for a quick spell, on the commute or on holiday. It will certainly make you laugh, and the variety is great. It's just missing that little something. The best, and in some cases worst, thing about Born To Be Riled is the fantastic scope of subject matter. Clarkson writes about anything and everything. This does help keep what I'm failry sure is his longest book, fresh and new, keeping you interested. At time though, pretty much everyone will come across a column on something they aren't really interested in, and while the variety is enormous, eventually they begin to repeat. ..."The World According To Clarkson" is a hilarious compilation of articles taken from Jeremy Clarkson's weekly column in the Sunday Times from the beginning of 2001 through to the end of 2003. ...Oh, and don't think just because it's Clarkson that's it filled with merry quips on cars, cars and more cars...it's not, so don't be deterred, and even those that love his work with BBC's Top Gear, you'll want to read on too... ...Having read his first book 'The World According to Clarkson' and being an avid watcher of top gear, I felt obliged to read the second edition of Jeremy Clarksons book. I found the first book really enjoyable to read and extremely funny in parts and this book is the same. I especially like the fact that because it is simply a culmination of his articles written in his sunday times column, that you can read a few and then put the book down until you feel like going back to it again. I found it a great book to take to work when you have a few spare minutes during you're lunchbreak or something. The only quite irritating aspect of the book is that he has chosen to write it in a style which could be direct speech. By this I mean that as you read you can almost imagine Clarkson just saying the words and after a while thats exactly what...

The articles listed in this book were written for his column in the Sunday Times during the period of 7th January 2001 to 14th December 2003. These include topics such as his experience on a trip to Austria, music taste, the Concorde and personal experience of hunting foxes.
