A grinder for cheaper than elsewhere
Advantages: Fresh ground coffee at a good price
Disadvantages: Loud, a bit messy and somewhat limited adjustment
...The Starbucks Barista grinder is a relabelled Dualit grinder which is offered at a reduced cost from Starbucks outlets. A grinder is essential for those who want fresh coffee. Coffee beans will last much better than ground coffee, and so grinding before use becomes the only way to ensure the freshest coffee.
A burr grinder like this one is essential for an even grind that doesn't burn the coffee. The coffee mills with spinning blades should be avoided at all costs, as they cannot evenly grind each bean and give consistent grounds. Added to their shortcomings of a mill, is that the speed of the blade heats and alters the coffee as it is ground. The burr grinders like the Barista crush the beans between grinding wheels and allow for each bean to be ground to an even consistency, without build-up of heat.
The machine has an easy load...

Bosch GWS 8 115C Angle Grinder
Advantages: Reliable, efficient, well-made
Disadvantages: None
...I should say at the outset that I am NOT a handyman type. However, my late father in law was a stonemason and I inherited some of his tools when he died, and our small patio badly needed relaying. So, remembering some of the tricks of the trade he'd imparted to me I set about cutting some paving slabs to size with a club hammer and a bolster chisel. What had seemed effortless when he did it suddenly became hard graft and, sure enough, the fourth slab toppled when I tried to turn it over and off I went to A&E with a broken finger.
A friend heard about my accident and, when he'd finished laughing at my ineptitude, he lent me his angle grinder, a Bosch GWS 8-115C. I was amazed how quickly this contraption ripped through the paving slabs and straight after returning his I immediately bought one of my own.
It came in a smart, neatly...

the grinder that doesn't grind - useless
Advantages: cheap
Disadvantages: lots: the main being that it doesn't do what it claims to!
...Not to be recommended - do not buy!
This is a very simple product that mashes well - but only if the foods are VERY soft before you grind them in this food mill. Root vegetables such as potatoes have to be floury and almost mashed already for it to work. Fruit and veg such as avocado and banana etc have to be super ripe (bananas need to be brown!) - otherwise the food grinder doesn't actually grind the food, it just gets stuck.
When foods are this soft and mushy you might as well just use a fork on a plate - in fact you'd be better off as the food grinder is tricky to clean! Also, we all know that foods that are overcooked like this have little nutritional value, in fact Annabel Karmel herself has been busy writing about it in her books!
I bought this product mainly for the purpose of ridding husk/skin off garden peas, dried...

Into the Grinder
Advantages: Shows the bad side of Slaughter
Disadvantages: NONE
...^^^Into The Grinder^^^
This poem is about the barbaric treatment that sheep get when being sent to the slaughter. Although many people say that sheep don’t have feelings because they’re animals, would you like to be fighting your friends and then crushed? I wrote this in senior school, so I hope you will account for that.
Into The Grinder
With a prod and bleat they’re shepherded on
Into the darkness where the sun never shone,
Held in transit, ovine confinement,
Dread journey begins the lambs are silent.
Into the grinder, mince is the dish,
Fields and blue skies, a far distant wish,
No chance to sit, crushed they stand,
Afraid and alone, their pen unmanned.
Panic sets in, they spit and bite,
Why, Oh why must they in-fight?
With loathing and fear, on each other they turn,
As the teeth of the grinder...

Coffee at home to rival any café
Advantages: Robust engineering, excellent performance, beautiful styling
Disadvantages: Heavy, hard to keep clean, very expensive
...Have you ever wondered why coffee in the coffee shop is better than coffee at home? Coffee shops use freshly ground and roasted coffee, and machines that can extract the full flavour from that coffee. If you want to replicate this quality of coffee at home, you need a machine that's up to the task. La Pavoni produced the Europiccola in 1961 and, some tweaking aside, they haven't changed the design significantly since then. The machine consists of a boiling chamber sitting on a base, with a glass level on one side and some curvaceous pipe-work on the other side. It truly is a thing of beauty, available (in ascending order of price) in chrome and black, straight chrome, chrome with wooden trim, gold, or gold with wooden trim. Go to www.lapavoni.com (domestic line, lever machines) to convince yourself that this is no ordinary machine...

Grind
Advantages: Very good
Disadvantages: A tad noisy
...I was looking for a good sturdy reliable coffee grinder, for that fresh tasting coffee you get in coffee shops.
My wife has worked in many catering facilitys and was familiar with this make of product.
So I ordered it, and though it was not the cheapest grinder, it was far from the most expensive either.
It is very easy to work, and grind the coffee into very fine coffee, or rather course coffee.
The machine is far from quite whilst carrying out this process, but is quick, so the noise is over before you know it, and your kitchen is filled with aroma of freshly ground coffee.
It has plenty of settings, to allow you to get the coffee ground to just the way you like it. It is very easy to clean, and comes highly recommended from me....

Makes quick work of everything
Advantages: Cuts through many materials, big disc
Disadvantages: Awkward to hold, noisy, no carry case
...After recently having our drive extended, I thought I would have a go at saving money and lay a block paved path down the side of my shed. At first I was using a brick bolster, which split the bricks in exactly the same place, no matter where I hit it. There seems to be some sort of weak point in the brick. After wasting about 20 bricks in the space of an hour, I decided to fish out my 4 ½ inch angle grinder. This didn't really help matters, as it wouldn't cut the whole way through the brick.
After speculating for a few days over what to do, I finally decided to purchase a bigger angle grinder (yes it did take me a few days to get to this - I don't like spending money). I went for the cheapest 9 inch angle grinder I could find, which happened to be one in the Argos catalogue. It cost £29.99, which I don't think is too bad. I reserved...

...Krups Expert Coffee Grinder, GVX2
Having recently bought a Gaggia Espresso machine I needed to get a grinder to prepare the beans to make the perfect coffee. I'd bought the espresso machine at Bluewater shopping centre and I knew that I'd want to get cracking as soon as I got home so there was no time to look around online to get the best deal. After realising that the only suitable Gaggia model would cost £150 I thought I'd nip into John Lewis to see what they had on offer.
The choice there was pretty good with models starting at about £20 running up to the Gaggia model. After being given a crash course in the matter of grinding beans by the very helpful assistant I plumped for the Krups model, GVX2, at £39.95.
Before I talk about the Krups model, let me try and pass on that crash course and explain the finer points of grinding...

Versatile tool
Advantages: Very versatile tool, well made, easy to use
Disadvantages: None
...I bought a B&D Proline angle grinder 4 years ago and have found it to be an indespensible tool. It is well made, easy to use and quick to change disks. It was fairly expensive compaired to the cheap imported ones but have found it to be worth the extra.
I had always considered these to be just for the motor trade ie cutting and grinding of metalwork. There is so much more to these tools, they can be used for a variety of jobs. I have a sanding pad with disks which allows easy grinding down of rough timber, the job can then be completed using a finishing sander. These sanding disks are especially useful for reducing end grain eg taking a bit of the height of a new door, this can be difficult and timeconsuming to do otherwise.
They can also be used to cut / grind stone, concrete, slabs etc.Metal can be cut and ground in the same way...

how easy is baby food now
Advantages: easy to use, know whats in your baby's food
Disadvantages: none
...I seen this product in the boots brochure and thought i had read the price wrong. £8 seemed very cheap for any thing to make your life easier.
So when i was next in boots i checked and sure enough it was just £8!!
This is a very compact food grinder probably about 20 cms high.
It includes a spatula and recipe card and a spare seal for the chamber, And in brief all you do is remove the grate by twisting it, raise the bowl and put your steamed or boiled veg in to the chamber, replace the grate and handle then twist.
Out comes little oodles of squished veg, so you can make as much or as little as you need to store for baby's meals.
I havnt tried any chicken or fish in it as yet but i am sure it will cope fine.
But the best part of all is knowing excactly what your baby is eating, and knowing they are getting all the nutrients from...
