...Aztech CNR2900-W (C1) SEC modem
I bought Packard Bell PC Imedia 3032 last year at PC World (not the best place to buy a PC I'll tell you) and this is the modem that's in my tower. It's an Aztech CNR2900-W.
About the company AZTECH
Aztech was setup in 1986 in Singapore. Soon, they were in Malaysia and Europe. They built better and fast modems until Broadband appeared then they focused their attention on build ADSL/Broadband modem for every kind of PC. They also make soundcards, walkie talkies, products for wireless LAN, Homeplug, MP3 playes, Viop (voice over IP) Analog Telephone Adaptors and a lot more technology. Packard bell and NEC frequently use Aztech modems in their PCs.
The Modem itself
Aztech CNR2900-W is meant to be a build in modem (as on the picture below) for in a tower. It's an analog modem. It has...

ADSL Modem
Review of Netgear DM602 ADSL-Modem by
miss_d_bus
Advantages: small, cheap, fast
Disadvantages: gets hot, not as cheap as USB only modems
...ADSL Modem (single ethernet port so not a hub or a switch)
* Power Adapter to run the modem off UK mains.
* Verticle stand
* Cables: 3m Ethernet Cat5 cable (network cabe), 2m USB cable and telephone Cable
* Resource CD-ROM
* QuickInstallation Guide
* Warranty and registration and support Information cards
* ADSL microfilter
You can either connect the modem to the USB port on your computer or you can use it as a network device. I have it plugged into a Linux Debian firewall by using ethernet and the computer works as the router. Many people will not have that find of setup so the modem canb e set to do the routing as well.
The modem can support up to 8 Mbps downstream and 800 Kbps upstream.
As the modem has ethernet functionality, it makes this modem able to work with most operating systems so the user is not limited to only...

My PC Is A TV, Now With Hi-Definition Option!
Review of Nebula Electronics DigiTV Card by
BNibbles
Advantages: Turns your PC into a Freeview Personal Video Recorder
Disadvantages: Not all PCs suited to siting in lounge
...ForAll code used by Nebula to control their card is the same as that for a Sony VCR.) Of course, with one of these in the PC, what do you want a VCR for?
Combined with all this comes the latest version of Nebula’s software, which can be checked against their web-site for a later version.
INSTALLATION
Basically, you have very little to do, and anyone familiar with installing, say, an internal modem, will have no problem at all. Simply locate a spare PCI slot, push the card into place, and screw it down as per the other cards. Plug in a TV aerial (antenna) and the remote sensor - now you’re ready to roll.
On first reboot, the card is detected (in my case by Windows XP Pro). Then you install its drivers, followed by Nebula’s suite of software from the CD-ROM supplied.
With first use, this immediately goes in search of digital channels...

Why on earth do you want a PC
Review of Member Advice on Buying A PC by
tagheur
Advantages: People will think that you are very sharp
Disadvantages: They'll be right
...Windows gradually screws itself into oblivion anyway, sooner or later you HAVE to open the hood to remove whatever it is that’s stuck in its gut. Of course now, in order to do that, you have to go on the Microsoft courses or spend a small fortune on the manuals. Bastards.
It physically upsets me every time I see some poor schmuck standing in line at PC World with his, or her “three big boxes and credit card”! You can see in their faces that they have no idea what they are about to do. It’s a kind of pained, confused, lost look that cuts me right to the heart. You poor bastard. As soon as the PCW cashier slams the till shut and you walk out the door, you’re on your own pal. Congratulations, you’re the proud owner of one of the single most advanced pieces of technology ever developed (at least as far as the hardware is concerned – you...

Dukes Dodgy PC Dealership
Review of Member Advice on Buying A PC by
TheDuke
Advantages: Gets you the PC you want
Disadvantages: More work than just goiung to Gateway or Tiny
...!) Well, there's more to DVD ROMs than movies! They hold a lot more information than CD's and are becoming the standard in new systems today. (I think it's about 8 times the storage of a CD).
In the interests of eye health, I suggest aiming for a monitor which is at least 17” in size (that’s screen size). This is especially important if you’re going to be spending large amounts of time in front of your new PC. Some things might require larger monitors, but I’ll mention them at the right time.
PC 1: If you are looking to do a lot of professional graphics work, then I would suggest getting a system that has a large (19” and above) monitor, with a good graphics card, and an above average amount of memory (i.e. 256Mb and above).
PC 2: If you are looking for a good games machine, then I would suggest a fast...

Reliable adapters, but not excellent...
Review of Xircom RealPort CardBus Ethernet 10/100 + Modem 56 by
adicos
Advantages: Reliable, lot of features
Disadvantages: Problems when installing on Win98 and WinMe
...Hello all,
This is an opinion about the Xircom Ethernet + 56K Modem Adapters. Why “Adapters” and not “Adapter”? Well, because there are in fact two of the same, even with the same specifications. And I’ll start with presenting you these specs:
1. Xircom® RealPort Ethernet 10+Modem 56 GlobalACCESS (REM56G-10)
- Integrated Type III PC Card connectors mean there's nothing to break, nothing to lose. But, in the same time, it will take the both slots in your laptop. Yes, you have everything on the card – as network connection, modem connection and mobile connection (if you have the specific cables, of course), but keep in mind that a Type III Card take the both slots.
- Connect using a standard RJ-45 Ethernet cable in the office (this for Local Area Networks), you don’t need any additional dongle, just plug the network...

Trust my Card Reader
Review of Trust EasyConnect 42-in-1 USB2 Card Reader CR-1420p by
fightgear
Advantages: reliable, USB2, vista compat, 42 different formats, lively lighty up bits
Disadvantages: bit boring to look at
...to me with all the card readers I have used.
The case is a brushed aluminum/steel finish and feels very solid. It measures about two by three inches. Although it is USB 2 it will work on USB 1.1 as well.
It comes with velcro tabs/tape so you can attach it to the side of your computer but I'd advise against it as you don't really get the chance to use both sides. Just stick it on top of a modem or something and it'll sit happily shining its bright blue light until you need it.
I've used it with XD cards, Compact Flash cards, SD and Mini SD cards and it has behaved impeccably throughout. I just bought a far sexier looking one this morning which boasts reading 55 (yes 55!) different card types and had a mirrored case (am I sucker for a shiny toy or what?) but still prefer the old faithful.
I'm happy with this device.... it might...

BUSINESS CARDS GALLORE.
Review of Avery - business cards - 100 pcs. by
thingywhatsit
Advantages: Some products are very good.
Disadvantages: Others a waste of space.
...the packet definitely said it was a whole program and was free. Taking it a step further than this, I pressed on the download, and although I realise that I live in the "sticks" and am still on a 56K modem, the time it would need to download the package was 13 hours.
I realised that sometimes this changes if you leave it downloading, and left it running for a period of four hours, by which time I gave up, and decided to explore programs that I already have installed on my computer to produce the cards.
The packaging is extremely tempting and what you are offered for the Five Pounds that you part with is 56 Visiting cards, neatly precut so that you cannot see that they are home made. They look professional and are in a heavy quality card.
What happened in effect was that although my Home Publishing program caters for Avery papers, it did...
