...The Wii version of Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games has been with us for a while now, and it hasn't been too badly received either amongst the Wii-mote waving, button bashing members of the public out there, so now that the DS version has finally arrived, should these same gamers still be as excited as they were the first time around? Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games on the DS is certainly not short on features, 16 playable characters have all been included, each of which are split into four categories such speed, skill, power and the all rounder's, therefore you can choose which characters you would prefer to use for each event based on their ability. The game also offers plenty of choice when it comes to events, these range from sprinting, swimming and cycling to more specialist events such as fencing and gymnastics...

...During the 1990s, if you had a games console you would have probably been in one of two camps: Sega or Nintendo. I certainly was rooted firmly in the Sega camp having had a Mega Drive for many, many years with games like Street of Rage, Ecco the Dolphin and of course, Sonic the Hedgehog. I was a huge Sonic fan, playing the first and second game until completion and then starting up again a few days later as I loved everything about it, the colours, the gameplay.... everything. So if you tried to convince me that some 10-15 years later that Sonic and Mario would team up in a game, I probably would have just laughed. Back then it would have been an absurd thought but one that any magazine reviewer or computer game fanboy would have only dreamed about. ...Having seen the advert for this game i was desperate to buy it as i have not had my wii for that long and i do not have many games. I eventually bought this game and i am so glad that i did as it is great fun. Players This game can be played as a one player or multiplayer as long as you have a wii remote for each player. Also you will need a nunchuck for each player although some of the games you can play with just the remote. Fantastic console - but treat with kid gloves

Advantages: Portable, wide choice of games, touch screen gameplay.
Disadvantages: Breaks too easily!

...The Nintendo DS is an excellent product, extremely popular with children and seemingly the best portable console for girls, because of the wide choice of games. My daughter has had one for two years now, and still plays with it a lot. The two screens and touch screen technology make ganeplay more interesting depending on the game played eg in Brain Training, you can write the answers down. It also has voice recognition technology. Favourite and best value games include Animal Crossing, Super Mario Brothers, Brain Training and Nintendogs - these seem to be returned to again and again. The only downside to a DS Lite is that it is not very robust, we are now on our third one. The first broke when it was dropped, and the second one just seemed to break from amount of use (at least no-one was admitting to dropping it!) The weakest point is...

Brilliant collection of funfair mini-games for kids of all ages.

Advantages: Humorous, challenging and competitive games for everyone.

...This pretty much does what it says on the tin. The game is set in a funfair, and you have lots of games to try out. This is an extremely enjoyable and addictive game for all the family. It is interactive and lends itself to competition - exactly what the DS is good at. The games are well conceived and faithful to the original - complete with jolly presenters for each stall. IF YOU LIKE WORD GAMES YOU'LL LOVE THIS

Advantages: Four games on one disk, will not date and therefore you can still enjoy playing it in years to come - assuming that the system requirements allow you too

...At work I don't have access to the Internet so I decided to dig out some of my old PC games and install them at work to play when I have 5 minutes spare to laze about. One of the games I dug out was a word games disk that I used to play a lot before we got the Internet at home, since having the Internet I don't think it has seen the light of day, until this week when I dug it out. The game is simply called Word Games For Windows, it is Manufactured by Guildhall Leisure Services Limited and is sold in CD ROM Format. As the title suggests you will need to be running Windows in order to install the games but other than that there is not a list of system requirements detailed on the packaging. At work our computer is at least 3 years old and is very basic, as I don't have any problems running the game there I would imagine that...

Mario & Sonic at the Winter Olympic Games (Wii) is an 'ok' game.

Advantages: Lots of sports, can play with balance board, ability to play with a mii, dream events are fun.
Disadvantages: No real story, Balance Board controls poorly on most mini-games, might get boring quickly.

...First off, Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games is yet another mini-game collection. The Wii has seen a large amount of these types of games lately, so if yet another one is going to appear on the Wii, it had better be a good one. And that's the problem with this particular game.
