Cooling with Boots

...This review is about the cooling eye masks available from Boots. Currently the box of 6 cost £4.98 from Boots. The eye masks are to be placed on the eyes covering both eye lids, the bags under the eye (if any), and the bridge of the nose. It can also cover your eye brows. Its can be used stright from the packet or after its been in the fridge for an even cooler sensation. It is for tired eyes and when they feel uncomfortable. Usually caused from lack for sleep, heat, use of computer and to much reading. It is to soothe and help refresh the eyes. So you feel and look better. Leave the eye mask on for about 10 minutes whilst laying down. Remember to take out contact lenses. It is advised not to use on broken or inflamed skin, as I guess it would sting and might cause an affect. Each eye mask comes in a foil sachet to keep the coolness...

cooling on a budget

Advantages: cheap and quiet
Disadvantages: installation nightmare

...I bought this cooler the other day on Amazon and it arrived today, thankfully 20 minutes after my new cpu did. The first thing that struck me was that the fan is positioned to the side of the heatsink rather than on top of it. Thus blowing hot air through the fins of the heatsink, which has the added advantage of cooling the electical transistors on the motherboard. The heatsink also came with thermal paste already in place which made things easier. After my old generic fan (that came with my medion pc) this seems so quiet, its unbelievable. A few times today I have thought the pc was not coming on because I could nt hear anything. In fact I never realised my hard drive made so much noise. I have a limited knowledge of computers, so it was great help to find that the person who answered the phone was very knowledgeable and guided my choices when I explained exactly what I wanted from the system. I ended up with a neat black and silver midi tower case containing an Intel Pentium dual core processor, 3GB of memory, a 500 GB hard drive and a number of other features including seven USB sockets and a 26 in 1 card reader. ...the fan at roughly 1/4 power was perfect for cooling and noise. The fan controller fits into one of your spare PCI slots and consists of a simple dial that you turn clockwise or anticlockwise for speed control. Efficiency - If you have been thinking about buying a new heatsink then i would presume you too are also intrested in the cooling side of computers. The heatsink is brilliant for AMD processors and pentiums alike up to about 2ghz i would say. I have a 1.4 and at high power it kept the temperature 8 degrees lower than my older processor. At lower speed i was seeing a 3 degree drop in temperature which is still good. Further Additions - For all the hardcore computer modders i would recommend you pay around £7 for a silver compound paste.
