Two Worlds

Advantages: Flexible character development and vast exploration area
Disadvantages: Mounted ride control is horrible

...The story (taken from the official website) : The world changed when Aziraal, the god of war, was slain in the huge battle long ago. The hordes of Orcs lost their divine leader and were forced to withdraw to the southern wastelands. Now, thousands of years later, the location of Aziraal's tomb is still unknown, well hidden by other gods who did not dare to entrust the secret to mere mortals. However, now, a fragile peace between the civilized races and the hordes is at stake. When the dwarven mining expedition discovered an ancient temple dedicated to an unnamed deity - all of the world's most powerful factions saw it as a possible clue to the place of Azriaal's burial ground. A silent war has now begun and it will soon ignite the fires that will lead to the holy crusade of the Orcs. However, the real danger lies somewhere else...

PC world...an Employees view!

Advantages: Huge amount of choice, competitive prices, friendly staff
Disadvantages: Lack of communication with head office, still sales culture.

...I have been looking at a number of reviews on PC world on this website and other websites and am inclined to agree with many of the points raised. I am an employee at a PC World store in the Midlands and hope that I can give an unbiased review on some of the good and bad points about PC world and How to respond to any problems you may encounter while you are shopping there. I accept no responsibility for any actions resulting from reading this material and my only aim it to argue the complaints raised on the Internet. This review does not reflect the opinion of DSG international! None of the information here is legally binding as procedures in the stores may differ from store to store. It is ultimately best to take up any grievances with the store managers. THE STORE The shop floor is split into easily to navigate isles...

Lose yourself in the World of Warcraft

Advantages: Huge player base, fantastic graphics and atmosphere, tons to do
Disadvantages: Plenty of 'idiots' in the community, not a unique game by any stretch

...With over 11 million subscribers, World of Warcraft (or 'WoW') clearly has done something right within the MMO world. Anyone who has already played Everquest 2 will recognise the game from the start; the interface, levelling system and quest system is pretty much exactly the same. The Characters World of Warcraft plays very much like a typical MMO. You create your character from 8 races (10 if you own Burning Crusade) and choose one of 9 (10 if you own Wrath of the Lich King) classes. You can customise your looks and choose your name, then you're ready to set off on your adventure. Depending on your race you will belong to either The Alliance or The Horde. These are two opposing player factions that cannot talk to each other. Each class has set skills and spells that they will learn as they level up. When you level, you need to...

PC World ---- Poor Customer Service World

Advantages: They aren't too expensive
Disadvantages: They have appalling customer service

...My husband brought a computer from PC World just over a year ago now. It cost £399 which seemed like quite a good deal. It came with everything we needed and even had free Norton Spyware thrown in for a year. It was on Windows Vista and had all the latest software on it. We also bought a lot of accessories for it, the printer costing £200, a wireless mouse and keybour, a scanner/photocopier. I'd like to say everything was perfect, we never had any problems and we all lived happilly ever after... but I can't. The day after we installed everything I went to use word for my uni work and found it wouldn't open, in fact none of the microsoft software would open. I used the library instead, not very convienient but oh well and we just used the computer for going on the internet which we did quite a lot seeing as my husbands work requires...

pc world basingstoke

Advantages: none
Disadvantages: too many to list.... dont bother go to dell

...I would not suggest a trip to pc world in basingstoke. Its the worse customer service i have ever known, and think they only make money with first time buyers as you get put off straight after if to use this store. my experience was i went to buy a pc at my local pc world in reading, they didnt have the one i wanted in stock but the chap was helpful and rang a local ish branch to see if they had it as it whoed on the screen they did. he rang them and asked them to get it ready as will be there in 30 mins to buy the pc in basingstoke. so i get there, no one on the shop floor i see the one i want and just want to buy it and get going as whole mission taking a long time and it was getting late. eventually found a staff member who had the stench of cannot be bothered and realy made me feel like i was infringing on her time and being...

Mercenaries 2: World in Flames (PC)

Advantages: Massive world, loads of freedom, interesting plot, fun hijack vehicle minigame
Disadvantages: Difficult and boring side missions, encountered performance issues

...Mercenaries 2 is an open-world action game set in a massive war torn world. A power hungry tyrant messes with Venezuela's oil supply, sparking an invasion that turns the country into a war zone. You are a mercenary and can carry out work for whoever you choose. I enjoyed this game, however I never completed it. To begin with it was fantastic and there is so much freedom you have no idea what to do next. The story line is interesting and varied but as with most games like this the real fun begins when you go on a rampage!! There is nothing quite like grappling up to a helicopter gunship, wrestling its pilot out of the cockpit and then unleashing its firepower on the unsuspecting people below! You must carry out missions for different factions so you can buy more equipment from them and these missions are often tedious, difficult...

PC World Staff Not Of This World

Advantages: None Whatsoever
Disadvantages: Treated Like A Criminal

...PC World sprung to mind when I decided to move my computer further away from my cable modem. To do that I would need a much longer Ethernet cable and as PC World were only a mile or so down the road I decided to go see what they had to offer. I was greeted at the door by a rather bored looking young man who shoved a free magazine under my nose which I duly took... something to browse through later. After no luck finding what i was after I asked an assistant who explained that Ethernet cables were called 'snagless' cables and pointed me in the right direction, from then on in it was only a matter of choosing the right length, paying for it and getting back home to get on with the job. The actual act of inserting one end of an Ethernet cable into a cable modem and the other into the back of my computer took only seconds, it was...

PC World Norwich. The world of staff rudeness

Advantages: Most requirements under one roof
Disadvantages: Poor customer service and aftersales care

...I write this opinion based on my own personal experiences with an individual branch of PC World. I recently made a trip to PC World in Norwich, Norfolk, to purchase some home networking cards. It was the first time that I had visited the store. When I arrived, I was quite impressed with the organisation aspects of the store and the quantity and vastness of products available. As I had had a fairly long journey, I was in desperate need of a wee and promptly asked the nearest sales assistant as to the location of the customer toilets. He proudly stated to me that "because we are on a retail park, we do not legally have to provide customers with toilet facilities and it is company policy" Oh the look of glee that filled the young bloke's face when he told me this. It surely made his job worthwhile!! I turned on heel and wandered away...

Why in the world PC World?

Advantages: Cheap computer supplies, allegedly
Disadvantages: You get what you pay for, they keep prices low by employing ignorant staff to whom customer service is a foreign concept

...I was made redundant last year and after a little time off to enjoy not doing ANYTHING AT ALL I decided it was time to start looking for a job. After landing some consultancy work I decided that since my husband worked from home if I couldn't beat 'em I may as well join 'em and set up my own business. In order to do so, I needed a printer, enter PC world.... Now to be honest, I should point out that this one star review is based on my and my husbands experiences of one out of town branch, which, perhaps, is unfair. Certainly our local branch of Dixons is great, so long as you don't go in on a Saturday, but even though they're happy to demonstrate things or even let customers try them out they don't carry much stock so seldom have the exact item you requie or they don't have enough different examples for you to be able to make...

No knowledge at PC World

Advantages: Wide range of products
Disadvantages: Ill informed staff, Lack of knowledge, prices a bit high

...PC WORLD staff are a disgrace. My own experience has on sevreral ocassions led me to believe that the staff at PC World are sadly lacking of any in depth knowledge regarding the products they sell. They either do not know or, more likely, they are inadequatly trained. I recently wanted to expand the number of USB ports on my system and asked an assistant how I should go about it. She asked me what a USB was then said that she didn't think they sold them. I then asked to speak with one of their service engineers who was bustling about in their service department. He told me I needed an internal USB Card at a cost of £40 plus cables at £10 for each device I wanted to connect. In total I was offered a solution for £ 80. I declined and was then informed by a waiting customer that I could buy an external 4 port hub off the shelf for just...
