GeiL 512 PC3200 DDR Ram
Advantages: Reliable, Cheap, Ram Heatsinks, Dual Channel friendly
Disadvantages: None - As yet
...I bought two of these sticks at the same time for use in a Dual Channel motherboard.
They have been very reliable and my system has been rock stable.
When buying DDR ram make sure you buy in pairs, make sure it the same rated speed and make sure you buy enough!
The memory is very pleasing on the eye, as it comes intalled with two RAM heatsinks - Useful if you want to overclock or your system runs warm.
The memory I got was rated as 512MB PC3200 DDR400 CL=2.5-6-3-3.
The memory also has a sticker confirming Speed, Cas Latency Rating and Batch number - Useful for getting matched pairs.
All in all cheaper than the "Overclocking" memory brands but as reliable, butnot with the inherent risks of using unbranded memery.

In the words of Prince "Crucial; think I want you"
Advantages: Good price, prompt delivery, and "fairly" easy to install
Disadvantages: No written instructions with product & didn't fit in first slot
...Bit of an intro (bear with me) I have recently (obviously) bought Windows 7 as part of the Ultimate Steal for students (even though I'm only part time student), before you purchase it is recommended that you download and run the upgrade advisor for this product to ensure your system is tickety boo. I did this and the recommendation was I needed more RAM (story of my life). I dusted off the product information I got with this PC and blah blah blah I went to their website where after scrabbling on the floor to look for serial numbers it brought up an option to buy RAM - but said it needed to know lots of things about my PC (even though I'd given the serial number). Feeling abit confused.com I decided to ask about at work.

So the first person I spoke to suggested a website but...

No excuse for not having enough memory!
Advantages: Top Value, good memory
Disadvantages: Can't put any more in this PC! No more room.
...In the memory market there are a few key players. Firstly you take out all of the players like Dell, HP and Compaq as they charge a premium for branded memory. After this you are left with the organisations that just produce memory. These organisations include Kingston, Corair and Crucial. In my experience I have used memory from all of these vendors having had 15 years experience as an I.T Administrator and Developer.
I went looking for some reasonable price memory that would be good in my PC which had 512Mb in at the time. I compared this to Kingston, Corsair and all the usual suspects at Dabs.com and found that Crucial was the cheapest by around 35% at the time. Making sure I had the right memory was a concern but I put the model of my PC into the Crucial Memory tool and hey presto it wold me what I would need.
Once I had bought...

Great stuff
Advantages: Brand you can trust
Disadvantages: None
...Iv had many differnt makes of ram but this has to be my favourite one, Crucial are great.
These come with a genuine life time warrenty, normally i dont belive in such a thing.
example of this: one of my blocks of ram in my computer wasnt working right, So i emailed crucial they told me to do a test. I did this test and it basically said the ram had gone faulty. So emailed them back they said No problem send it us back and we will replace it. next day brand new peice of ram arrived. Amazing. I just wish all manufactures were as nice as them.
New block of ram is now 3 years old and still running.
as for value for money I bought this off crucial them selves and revieced a free game worth at least £20.
Definatly recommend....

GeIL 400 MHz / PC3200 512mb memory
Advantages: Reliable, efficient
Disadvantages: None found yet
...I recently completed my first self build computer project. After having bought a pre-build last time I decided to do it myself this time as I have been inside my old one enough times to know what goes on.
My last computer used unbranded memory, and I feel this caused compatability issues with components I installed. I decided to opt for GEIL memory this time, and have installed two 512mb sticks giving me 1024mb of random access mem. Im running the mem with an AMD 64bit 3000 939Winchester processor and an ABIt AV8 mobo and have had no compatability issues.
The hardware analysis software SISoft Sandra 2005 informs me that its currently running 1gb memory, which is acceptable. Ive run prime95 on it for 24hours including tests such as 2500 lucas Lehmer iterations and the mem is stable. It remains stable when moderatly overclocking...

Mmmmm..... DDR RAM
Advantages: Gives me an extra 512MB
Disadvantages: No manual.
...This review is a little brief, but you can't write too much about a little stick of RAM! No, really you can't.
Even though I had a computer with 1GB of memory I decided I wanted even more from my computer, so I bought this! 512MB is the average amount of RAM a newish computer has, but it really isn't a lot in the long term. But saying I was only upgrading extra!
I never went into a computer before, as I was a software person myself. So I was obviously scared, in case I broke anything. So I spent about ten minutes researching, I thought it would take hours but I was amazed at the simplicity described!
I remember the days of 16MB RAM being loads, so I thought 512MB would cost lots, I was extremely shocked; it only cost around £30, from eBuyer!
Now I'll do a little explaining. Many different types of RAM exist, DDR 400 (PC3200...

512 Megabytes of RAM - as smooth as it gets.
Advantages: Good price, neat design, reliable, excellent capacity and great performance
Disadvantages: None
.... Kingston serves an international network of distributors and OEM customers in the US, Europe, Asia, Africa, Australia, and Latin America, representing more than 3,000 locations worldwide.
-------------------- About the Memory --------------------
As I've already written a similar review regarding the 256 MB, PC3200 DDR - a lower capacity module than this 512 MB PC3200 DDR type. I guess I will have to input some similar information already on my other review - just in case readers don't read my previous 256 MB PC3200 DDR's review.
As some of you may be aware that handling electronic devices without due care can cause damage to the device by electrostatic shock, I suggest new-users (or continuous users) to touch full stainless-steel kitchen taps (or any unpainted, grounded metal object) to drain electrostatic that's already charged around...

Is Kingston a King or a Queen?
Advantages: Good price, neat design, reliable, excellent capacity and great performance.
Disadvantages: You will want to buy more due to its performance and reliability.
...is available from most computer shops.
What is "electrostatic"?
-----------------------------------
Electrostatic is like an electrical current which is charged by the handling of shopping bags, silk, balloons or any material capable of producing electrical currents. I'm not a Physicist, so don't laugh at something I haven't put properly, I'll try not to make those mistakes though. I don't have time being like Albert Einstein who constantly gets shocked by the looks of his messy hairstyle, maybe he plays with balloons?
The PC3200 Memory Module
----------------------------------------
This here module is a 256 MB PC3200, Non-ECC DDR400 DIMM.
Non-ECC stands for "Non-Error Checking and Correction", DDR stands for "Double Data Rate", DIMM stands for "Dual In-Line Memory Module".
It has 184-pin gold-plated contact fingers...

MSI K8N Neo4
Advantages: Durable, easy to use, stacked with features
Disadvantages: Only four memory slots, slow speed with four memory modules
...I currently have this motherboard in my computer system. I have so far had no major technical issues with it and have enjoyed every minute. I am running it with a AMD 64 3800+, 4x512 MB PC3200 Kingston Hyper X memory modules, a Western Digital 10,000 RPM Raptor 69GB Hard drive, a bog standard Samsung DVD drive and a Nvidia 7800 GTX graphics card.
The above components are all quite expensive and I knew I would have to choose a suitable motherboard to fit them into. I first came across the board whilst searching the internet, it seemed a reasonable price for the specs included. Now that I have it working I can tell you it runs just about anything you can find, well game wise anyway. I have never experienced any sort of system crash and the updates from MSI to bios and drivers have always installed without a problem. One of the most...

Crucial to get good memory
Advantages: A quality brand name you can trust
Disadvantages: not the fastest memory timings
...packed, and include instructions on fitting. There is a lifetime warranty, and a 30 day money back compatibility warranty for added piece of mind.
In this case my PC takes PC3200 non-ECC DDR ram. A 512MB stick cost £61 inc delivery.
The CAS latency (another measure of the memory speed) is 3, which isn't at the best end of the scale, but Crucial are introducing a new Ballistix range with faster timings - though with an appropriate price premium (the CAS2 Ballistix ram would have been £88).
The CAS latency is really only important if you intend overclocking your PC memory and forcing it to run at a faster speed than it was really intended to, or if you are going to set aggressive memory timings in your motherboard bios setup. I'm not doing that, so this stick is fine for me
One good thing about Crucial ram is its ease of resale. When...
