Creative labs have been around now for years and always seem to top the market with well priced software and hardware that you can trust. Not only do they supply everything in the software bundles but they offer full support via their web site with tons of downloads and upgrades and with one on one tech help if required.
When I bought my sound blaster PCI64 it was quite a recent product and much sought after by those who love quality music and good sound reproduction. It came complete with a CD that contained drivers for just about every model of computer operating system and loads of extra utility stuff like Creative Audio software, Wave Lab, Creative CD, sound lab for microphone use and more.

...I've only had this PCI128 Creative Sound Card for a few days, and wow!!! It was so easy to install, and the software that came with it is excellent. The software can play anything that can be played. For example, if you have a DVD Rom, it can play movies, regular audio CD's, MP3's and loads more.
For something that is so cheap, you wouldn't expect a lot from the soundcard, but in my opinion, it should be priced a lot higher than it is.
I purchased this soundcard, as I needed a full-duplex card, as the one built-in to my motherboard wasn't really any good for video conferencing.
Anyone who needs a soundcard, but is on a low budget should purchase one of these cards.
I'd recommend the Creative Soundblaster PCI128 to anyone who need excellent quality sound, but doesn't want to spend a fortune....

Reason: I have got a MSI K7T266Pro2 motherboard that only offer USB1.1 ports (1.5Mbytes/s maximum transfer rate).
Since I have got devices that uses USB2.0 and without breaking my piggy bank to upgrade my computer, the most economical way is to install a PCI card that offers USB2.0 connections (up to 480Mbits/s or 60Mbytes/s, 40X faster than USB1.1) for 1 internal port and 4 external ports.
Before you buy a USB2.0 PCI card, make sure that your motherboard got version 2.2 PCI slots which are USB2.0 compatible.
If your motherboard hasn't got version 2.2 PCI slots or higher, don't bother. You need a motherboard upgrade.
Also, your operating system needs to be windows 2000 service pack 4 or windows XP which provides appropriate drivers to support USB2.0. For the other operation systems...
Advantages: Easy to install...all my needs fufilled! Disadvantages: Becoming outdated.

This card fufills all my needs and I couldn't ask for anything more! It was a cinch to install...took me the best part of 20 mins.......goes up to a great resolution, was cheap......a cool £50 from Gameplay! There i really nothing more I could ask for a card with my current system..........sure, if i upgrade I might be inclined to go with nVidia....but we'll cross that bridge when we come to it!...

Network equipment using 802.11g is compatible with equipment using 802.11b as they both use the same protocol (802.11) at the same transmission frequency, although 802.11b is approximately a fifth of the speed of 802.11g.
At just over £50, I have to say that it's not cheap, and is priced at the expensive end of the spectrum (I had seen other cards priced from £30 upwards), but at least postage was free from Amazon.
Installation was a breeze, thanks to the clear instructions. For once, I decided to read them through before installation, and this proved to be lucky as Netgear instruct you to install the software first before physically inserting the card into an available PCI slot in your PC. I`ve since bought a new motherboard, but I decided to keep the PCI card because I`m very impressed with it`s performance.
The card itself is massive, and it has two fans on it. It actually requires power from the power supply through the leads that you usually use to power your hard drive. Something I`m not used to, and made me panic when I forgot to plug the thing in and it didn`t work. Doh :-)
The huge size means that people with smaller cases may not be able to fit it in - I have a full tower case, and, because of the arrangement of my motherboard, there is only one PCI slot that it would actually fit in to. This is a little...

Well, a lot do, but you can buy a PCI modem that doesn't. It's called a hardware modem. If you have a very powerful PC, then a modem that uses the PC's CPU is fine, but with an older PC you will really need a hardware modem.
They aren't expensive and I have used several with good results. I would recommend an ESS/Retail Plus model for example. You should be able to be one for around £25.
To be honest, most users won't notice any difference between a hardware and modem that borrows the CPU to work. Very cheap systems will nearly always have the latter....
Advantages: Fast, reliable card from reputable company Disadvantages: Quite big! Check it will fit your machine!
...The reason I bought one of these boards was because I wanted the most powerful board I could get but one which was made in PCI specification as my computer has no AGP slot. The Voodoo4 4500 uses a single 32Mb 3dfx VSA-100 chip capable of 333 Megapixels per second and running at 350Mhx, 2.5 times quicker than my old Voodoo3 2000. And it is certainly noticeable! I won?t go into all the technical stuff, cos you can read that at http://www.3dfx.com/prod/voodoo/v4-overv.html, but I will end by saying that games certainly fly with this card, and is a big improvement over my old one. Although this card is not as fast as a GEFORCE2 or similar, it will match a TNT Ultra, and if you have to have a PCI card (like me) it?s a great card at a cost of £150....
