Advantages: None Disadvantages: Regular Blood Tests, Blood Transfusions and a long list of things to avoid
...Though I'd update this a bit seen as the Genetics department at the John Radcliffe Hospital has finally managed to do a bit more research into both my boys condition.
I had never come across this condition before until my eldest son (5) was diagnosed with the condition at birth. He was critically ill at birth and spent the next 10 days in the Special Care Baby Unit, having blood transfusions, and getting a suntan under UV lights. My second child (13 months) was also diagnosed with the same condition at birth, he thank goodness was not as seriously ill as his older brother. I have to add that not every baby born with this condition will react the same way as my children did. I now know people who have not been diagnosed with the condition until they were in their 20's.

Review of G6PD Deficiency
Advantages: Intriguing, entertaining, good analysis of human nature Disadvantages: Not P.D. James' best, lacks originality
..."?Dalgliesh's mind obeyed its own compulsions? He was struck, as he had been as a young detective constable on his first murder case, by the absoluteness of death. Once the body was cold and rigor mortis had started its inevitable and predictable progress, it was almost impossible to believe that this stiffening encumbrance of flesh, bone and muscle had ever been alive. No animal was ever as dead as was a man?"
It has been several years since the enigmatic poet and senior Scotland Yard detective Adam Dalgliesh last intrigued us with his crime-solving abilities in "The Murder Room" but now he has returned in a new story, this time set on a lonely island off the coast of Cornwall. The character created by crime writer P.D. James once again applies his mind to solving another seemingly insoluble murder and for fans of P.D. James...
Advantages: Decent enough characters and good few twists and turns Disadvantages: Too much emphasis on character's personal lives
...I thought I would give A Taste for Death a go as it has been sitting on my book shelf for a couple of years. I have to say I have a few of PD James' books and have never found them that engrossing, and much prefer Agatha Christie's novels and short stories. As a result I didn't hold out much hope but with little else to read I took the time to start reading.
First off I have to say I am glad it was one of the Commander Adam Dalgliesh series, as it is a character I have heard of and enjoyed from the Martin Shaw and Roy Marsden TV series.
The basic premise of the book is a double murder in the vestry of St Matthew's Church, one of the victims is a tramp and the other is an government minister, Sir Paul Berowne. This second victim as an added twist was an acquaintance of Dalgleish. So Dalgleish and his team investigate all...
Advantages: Great picture, Sound and connections Disadvantages: Only 1 scart
...I Bought my Hitachi 42PD5200 from www.247electrical.co.uk for £2268.99 (With p+p) as i wanted the pay 12month later option.
I had spent a long time looking around the net on various sites that review Plasma and as it had won a collection of awards i bought the hitachi.
The tv is great looking and the picture is excellent quality when used with Dvd or Sky + though nowhere near as impressive using the standard ariel connected tv channels (Not sure if its as using a ariel extention or not) Sound quality is also brilliant nice crisp sounds and good bass with its srs trubass sound.
The remote is nice looking designed though can get a little confusing as im new to it with all the buttons !
The tv has a built in tuner so all the connections are on the back of the tv there is only 1 Scart ! ,2 Component inputs, 2 Composite, 1 S-video, 4...

Review of Hitachi 42PD5200
Advantages: ease of use, excellent sound, good quality video in good light. Disadvantages: placing of control buttons, menu options, low light performance.
...I have owned the Sharp vl-pd3h camcorder for about a year now, mainly used for family BBQ's and the odd day trip out. (havn't caught any UFO's yet !!)
First impressions of the camera are of a good quality product, fits nicely in the hand. The main off, camera, vcr control button has to be "pressed" then rotated to the position you want.
The menu of options is very comprehensive, if a bit confusing at first. As with most things, "if you dont use it enough you tend to loose it "
Flip out the viewscreen, hit the record with thumb and your away. I've used the camera mostly on full auto mode (as most people will) but there are a range of manual overrides to correct certain lighting conditions, eg backlight compensation, and very bright conditions where the iris size can be reduced / or adjustable shutter speed can be selected. Camera shake...

Review of Sharp Viewcam VL-PD3H
Advantages: Comfort, Stylish, Fuel effiecient Disadvantages: Service Costs
...I have had the 1.9 TDI PD(130) now for 8 months, My first reason for purchasing the vehicle was to pull our family caravan- which it does with great ease. After 8 months the feelings toward sthis car have become a bit more passionate, the ride is so comfortable that the family can rest or even sleep on long journeys, there is no or very little external noise and it is truly a pleasure to drive. I travel 800 miles a week just commuting to and from work, the comfort is a godsend on my delicate back and therefore making driving to work a pleasure, even though my journey is 98% motorway i still managed to atain between 52% and 55% MPG. The downside is the service costs, luckily i have a friend who runs his own registered garage so i can lower my costs a bit, especially on a cam belt change at £560.00. Back to the positives, the interior is...
Advantages: Connectivity options, HD ready, Styling, Price, Picture Disadvantages: Setup
...guessed from the category, we bought a Hitachi 42PD7200, which is a 42" plasma display panel with a few whiz-bang features that, at the price, set it apart from everything else.
Now you already know why we bought a 42" screen. And you know why it was a Plasma rather than an LCD, but there's so much choice in the market these days - why did we buy the Hitachi 7200?
First off, we bought it because it's capable of showing the new standard High Definition (HD) pictures. With a resolution of 1024 x 1024 and support (for those that want to know) for up to 1080i, it has enough pixels to do justice to any of the soon-to-be-broadcast signals. The same holds true for high-definition DVDs (when they finally settle on a standard). So in this regard, the screen is relatively future proof and our investment should last a good few years. Given the cost...

Review of Hitachi 42PD7200
Advantages: A chilling story, menacing atmosphere Disadvantages: Can be a bit slow at times
...P.D. James is a successful British crime fiction writer but having never read her work before, I picked this book up out of interest after vaguely hearing about the film based on it.
"The Children of Men" is not a crime fiction novel but is instead a dystopian novel set in a future England where no-one has been able to have a child for twenty-five years. The novel is all about the consequences of this mass childlessness on society.
I have to say I quite enjoyed it and thought it had a nicely menacing air. It was quite indebted to Orwell's "1984" in some ways but was by no means a replica.
The main character is Theo, who isn't always a sympathetic protagonist as he can be quite irritating and also cold. He is the cousin of the Warden of England who is basically a dictator. The book begins with Theo's diary, in which we find out more...
Advantages: Plays cds Disadvantages: Only plays cds?
...Pioneer. That is just what I did when I was old enough to purchase my very first CD player. I went on a quest to find a quality CD player in pre-MP3 days. Pioneer a Japanese company, which brings video & music into the heart of your living room & or car. The products built by Pioneer are built just for that and they do it very well. Not only do I own the PD-206 but I matched it to the VSX-405RDS MK2 (amplifier). This little set up has to date bought hours of enjoyable listening time to my friends and I.
This is a rackable set up, in other words they sit on top of each other in a neat orderly fashion.
Purchased back in 1996, the PD-206 was one of the main stream CD player on the market. Most shops stocked it and it was priced at around £140.00. I have only had to clean the lens once and that was about two months ago. It is...
