...Though I'd update this a bit seen as the Genetics department at the John Radcliffe Hospital has finally managed to do a bit more research into both my boys condition. I had never come across this condition before until my eldest son (5) was diagnosed with the condition at birth. He was critically ill at birth and spent the next 10 days in the Special Care Baby Unit, having blood transfusions, and getting a suntan under UV lights. My second child (13 months) was also diagnosed with the same condition at birth, he thank goodness was not as seriously ill as his older brother. I have to add that not every baby born with this condition will react the same way as my children did. Disadvantages: Not P.D. James' best, lacks originality

A Taste for PD James

Advantages: Decent enough characters and good few twists and turns
Disadvantages: Too much emphasis on character's personal lives

...I thought I would give A Taste for Death a go as it has been sitting on my book shelf for a couple of years. I have to say I have a few of PD James' books and have never found them that engrossing, and much prefer Agatha Christie's novels and short stories. As a result I didn't hold out much hope but with little else to read I took the time to start reading. First off I have to say I am glad it was one of the Commander Adam Dalgliesh series, as it is a character I have heard of and enjoyed from the Martin Shaw and Roy Marsden TV series. The basic premise of the book is a double murder in the vestry of St Matthew's Church, one of the victims is a tramp and the other is an government minister, Sir Paul Berowne. Toshiba NB100

Advantages: Nice look, good battery life.
Disadvantages: Too small.

...actually pretty impressive. Function The notebook works quite well with wireless internet and doesn't cut off often as I have found with wi-fi on some other laptops. It also has an impressive battery life, in a recent car journey, I found it lasted about 3 and 3/4 hours, easily enough time for all of the film I was watching as well as some of another. It is available in two versions, Ubuntu Linux and Windows XP Home., but the Linux has 512Mb of RAM and an 80Gb hard disk, the Windows one has 1Gb of RAM and a 120Gb drive. I personally own the windows version, since I know more about the operating system and prefer the high memory levels. The rest of it's specifications are pretty average for a note book and it runs as such. Overall The Toshiba NB100 is great if you're japanese and/or believe things should be made...

Vintage VRS100 - Blue

Advantages: The Wilkinson hardware. The playability. Good value.
Disadvantages: The blue finish hides the flamed maple veneer. Tone+Volume knobs. Serial number format.

...Vintage VRS100 Well first off I paid £150 for this. Ex-demo, so not new, not second hand, think in-between the two. This is a PRS copy and Vintage have pretty much nailed the body shape! It's a Double-cut. Vintage says the VRS means "Vintage Rock Series". The finish I chose for this guitar was the "through blue". A very dark blue finish on the front with a lighter greeny-blue on the back and neck. This finish is semi transparent (you can see the wood). Through blue is now a discontinued colour. For the body 3 pieces of Eastern poplar have been used. A bookmatched flamed maple veneer is glued on top. The top of the guitar is carved while the back is contoured for comfort. The neck is nice and chunky set neck and is made up of 2 pieces of maple with a 1 piece rosewood fingerboard. Upon the fretboard are 24 medium frets...
