Advantages: A great insight

...I am reviewing Private Peaceful by Michael Morpurgo. I read this novel in my English class at school and I am going to explain what happens in the novel, who the characters are, what I think are the best and worst bits and why, and what I would do personally to the novel to make it a better book. The main character in this novel by Michael Morpurgo is Thomas Peaceful because the book is written in the first person as if he is telling the novel. You get an in-sight into what he is thinking (sometimes almost like a monologue) and the book follows him around. Everything is seen from his perspective. Another character who is a real centre of attention in this novel is Tommo's brother - Charlie. ...If want to escape from the stresses and strains of modern life, you will find a haven of peace, tranquillity and beauty in Milton Keynes at the Peace Pagoda on Willen Lake (north shore). To appreciate the view, you should leave your car in the north carpark and then take the steps up to the top of the hill. The climb up is somewhat challenging to the uninitiated, but there is excellent wheelchair access too, via a series of sloping paths. There is a bench at the top for those wishing to catch their breath! At the top of the hill, take the path to the left - this leads round to the Pagoda. The Peace Pagoda is an elegant white structure, adorned around its centre with delicate, intricate and stunning gold carvings of buddhas, religious icons and scenes from ancient life. It was produced by BBC Northern Ireland and jokes about the political Parties, Paramilitary groups and the secterian Divide in Northern Ireland! ...One of the best 'hard' science fiction novels of the 1970's was surely Joe Haldeman's 'The Forever War.' This is not strictly speaking a sequel to this novel, but it is a 'companion peace' in as far as the attitude to war and politics is the same. Haldeman, it is clear, has little faith in the American political system, believing it to be wide open to incompetency and corruption. An act of incompetence unknowingly sets in motion the events of Forever War, and much of the danger in Forever Peace stems from mad 'endists', believers in the imminent Armageddon, who invade the political system. These madmen want to provoke war and destruction in order to bring about the end of the world, and much of Forever Peace is concerned with trying to prevent just that. ...As I travel a reasonable amount I spend more than my fair share of time in duty free shops and so LegendaryMrsDude and I have amassed a fair collection of perfumes. Over the coming weeks/months I will try and share with you my thoughts on the various bottles that we have acquired over the years. And I will begin with one of my favourites - Kenzo: Time For Peace Pour Lui Originally produced in 1999 as a limited edition to celebrate the year 2000, Kenzo Time for Peace was created in both womens and mens versions; this review is of the mens version. Packaged in a box that looks like it has been wrapped in brown paper and stamped with the words "Kenzo Time For Peace", one word on each of the long sides of the box, it's a fairly unassuming package. Advantages: Use of repetition, well illustrated, strong family feel.
Disadvantages: Not a particularly strong moral.

...The bear family are tired and decide to go to bed. Mr Bear cannot sleep. It does not help when Mrs Bear starts snoring, he goes to Baby Bear's room and he is not asleep either. He is playing aeroplane noises in bed. Mr Bear goes from room to room trying to find somewhere quiet to sleep. Will he ever get any rest? "Peace at Last" by Jill Murphy is a simplistically told story of one poor bears futile attempts to get a decent nights rest. As we follow him from room to room we are treated and he is forced to endure a variety of sounds from snoring to dripping taps. Jill Murphy has written a repetitive tale that will be popular with all pre-schoolers as it certainly is with my three year old. Murphy's repetitive language are coupled with pages that slowly increase in length, indicating the increasing frustrations of Mr Bear. This allows my... Read review

Disadvantages: Some tracks very technical, not easy listening

...of the encounter, the leftovers of life, the mourning of the lost comrades. A lone trumpeter and a solitary bell, provides the ambience of devastation. Torches Similar to Angry Flames, a scene of searching for the dead, and moving off elsewhere. The grim reality of mortality. Agnus Dei Asking for divine peace, the choir sing in latin. This beautiful peace was also in the most requested on a certain classical music radio station. This peace has a lilting quality using the traditional invocations of a latin mass. The melody is simple beautiful and shows Jenkin's big talent for writing ecclesiastical choral music. Now the Guns have stopped A weary battle survivor and his lonliness and despair. Benedictus Another latin mass, purely instrumental in the outset, with the choir joining halfway through. A quiet start for what blossoms... Read review

...The story is based around a young family of elephants. Mrs Large has three children Lester, Laura and Baby and all the poor Mother wants as the title suggests is “Five Minutes Peace”. Mrs Large makes herself a lovely breakfast and tries to sneak off upstairs and have a little time for herself. The children however are already eating their breakfast and the kitchen now looks like a bomb has hit it. There are cornflakes over the floor, spilt drinks and toys everywhere. Sounds familiar unfortunately it does to me and I expect most parents with young children. Mealtimes in my house must be similar to feeding time at the local zoo! Anyway back to the story, Mrs Large gets caught sneaking off and is hastily followed up the stairs by her three little children asking her where she is going and that all to frequently...
