...A decade and a half having now passed since I first saw David Lynch's masterpiece Twin Peaks, I've decided at last to put pen to paper (in a virtual sense) and write something about this truly exceptional and extraordinary series. "Exceptional" and "Extraordinary" are words that are perhaps overused these days in the English language; however, I remain, fifteen years later, utterly convinced that Twin Peaks deserved to be draped with such superlatives, and more. In a nutshell, this is in my experience the greatest TV drama series ever made. It is also so much more than a drama series, combining elements of the supernatural, of surreal and unfathomable events inextricably linked but in a way that defies explanation. Coronet Peak, skiers crowning glory

Advantages: Scenic, great skiing and snowboarding

...Skiers and snowboarders may be forgiven if the scenery distracts from the days sport at Coronet Peak, in the South Island of New Zealand. A day's snow sport is more than memorable at this North Otago ski area in a province of New Zealand's South Island, known for its stunning mountain scenery. Atop the 5400ft mountain sits an outcrop of rock, in the shape of a crown, hence the name given to it by explorer/surveyor James McKerrow when visiting this virgin area many decades ago. Another, more modern pioneer was Sir William Hamilton who, with typical New Zealand 'Kiwi' ingenuity, put Coronet Peak on the map by manufacturing the first rope tow at what was the country's first commercial ski field in 1947. The Peak of Fitness

Advantages: Good classes, excellent customer service

...I joined Peak Fitness after my not-so-brilliant experiences with the Gloucester Esporta (see other op). Peak Fitness is about 5 minutes from our new house, and had been reccomended to me by several people at work. So, shortly after Christmas I decided i'd better wear off all that turkey and mince pies and join the gym. **Who are they** Peak Fitness is a chain club, but a lot smaller than the likes of Esporta and Fitness First. They have gyms in Cheltenham, Gloucester, Docklands, Palmers Green, Woking, Worcester, Whitley Bay, Tonbridge & 2 in Newcastle. They are also known as Arena in Northern Ireland. You can use any of these gyms as a member for no extra cost. **Facilities** The Gloucester club is situated on the outskirts of the city, in a large open shopping area. The homecoming queen, Laura Palmer, played by Sheryl Lee, is discovered to be far from perfect and was actually a wild teenager. The FBI agent, Dale Cooper, played by Kyle MacLauchlan, realises that no one in the town is perfect and has something to hide. As well as investigating the murder of Laura Palmer, Cooper also investigates the reappearance of his old FBI colleague, Windom Earle, played by Kenneth Walsh. Review of Twin Peaks

EXHILARATION AT ITS PEAK!

Advantages: Great scenery
Disadvantages: Lots of tourists

...Instead of our usual jaunt to the seaside, my husband and I decided that what was really needed was something different. We wanted peace and quiet but we also needed to be able to keep the children occupied and happy too. We were lucky enough to find a cottage, high on the moors of Derbyshire, on the edge of the Peak District. Not only did we get the peace and quiet we craved, we were perfectly positioned to explore the Peak District and all the delights it had to share. I don't think that there are many who could fail to be moved by the beauty of the Peaks. The valleys and the Dales, The Black Peaks and the white, the moors and the forests. 542 miles of perfection. I am trying to find the appropriate words to describe the breathtaking views and the exhilaration of standing on the edge of the Moor, looking out at the valleys...

  When the going is tough, the Peak keeps going

...Cooking outdoors can be more challenging than at first thought. I still remember thinking the only things that made a difference to cooking outdoors was if it was raining or if it was very windy, other than that I thought outdoor cooking is outdoor cooking. I guess that comes from my barbecue cooking days, those wonderful summers days that deteriorate the moment the charcoal is lit. Anyway this is a review about the Coleman Peak One Stove. Why use this instead of other cooking stoves? Well it boils water faster than any other stove I have ever used, see more about that further in the review. When it comes to low temperatures (cold weather and late at night) it still performs well, other stoves can become slower and therefore cook slower. ...Peak Imaging are on of many postal photo developing companies, but are head and shoulders above most. They were established in 1979 and are based in Sheffield. Despite competition they are regarded as one of the top pro-am photo labs and are regularly recommended in print, on newsgroups and now on Ciao ! As a postal service Peak provide you with a small cardboard box (about the size of 2 stacked cigarette cartons (20's) - not that I smoke !), and an order form. You fold up the box and pop your films and the order form into the box - seal the ends with tape and place the postage paid box into the mail. After processing (the number of days varies depending on the service) your prints and negatives or slides are returned in secure packaging to your address. The Crystal Peaks Shopping Complex

Advantages: Lots Of Shops All Undercover
Disadvantages: Not In City Centre

.... Colloquially this sprawl of middle class suburbia began to be referred to as Crystal Peaks. It was inevitable that such a populous area should have its own facilities but to be fair the combined local authorities of Sheffield and Rotherham on whose land these new homes were built were rather slow on the uptake and it was not until 1977 that plans of a huge shopping complex were unveiled. At this time purpose built, out of town shopping complexes were virtually unheard of and the scheme was not without its critics, not least because the proposed site was on an area of pleasant, green arable land, with ancient woodlands. The choice of location however was obvious.
