Peavey MicroBass Amp

Advantages: A nice little practice amp
Disadvantages: gets a bit fuzzy when you turn up the gain too much

...As you may of guessed, i am a bassist. ive been playing about two years now, and ive never changed my amp! i bought my peavey microbass the day i bought my bass, there like brothers now, a peavey amp and a peavey bass, beautiful *whipes away tear* Anyway, the amp itself is approx 24cm in height, approx 30 cm wide, and approx 22 cm deep. Id say it weights about 20 lbs too. so if you measure it up, its pretty small. Its only a 20W amp, but dont let the size fool you, this baby can get pretty loud with the bass volume and amp gain at full, infact, ive never had it at full volume. a small amount of volume is just fine for me, its only a practise amp after all, it doesnt need to reach 300 decibels, just needs to be loud enough to get the nice bass sound out of it. Peavey Rage 158 Transtube 15 watt practice amp

Advantages: Great for its price. nice clean channel. Loud for 15 watts
Disadvantages: Terrible lead channel. No effects loop. No footswitchable channels.

...I purchased this amp as part of a 'starter package' for £180. That included this amp, a peavey guitar, case, cable, book and tuner. Personally I think the amp was what made the package worth the money, because it sure as hell wasn't the guitar... Anyway, enough of the unneccessary details, I assume you people are reading this to find out how it sounds. I won't put you off by just saying outright what I think of it, but I'll explain my reasonings to give you a better idea of what this amp is good for, and also what it is not good for. It is a practice amp, plain and simple. It's not made for great tone, but for a person just starting out who doesn't want to fork out a lot of money. Peavey Valve King 212

Advantages: Really nice clean tones
Disadvantages: Rather muddy and weak overdrive channel

...analougue sounding reverb it is too. External speaker out which is handy for larger gigs. FX loop which is always nice. Thats about it, nice and simple. Durability: This thing is built like a tank! while i was taking it to a gig in my car it fell over onto a metal bracket in my car boot and luckily missed metal panel with the volume knob on it but hit the wood casing at the top left instead and made a massive dent in the wood! But this thing is built so well that the tubes didn't even break! Very shock absorbant indeed. Advantages: Great value. Awesome tone. Very LOUD!
Disadvantages: Very heavy. Footswitch not included.

...The ValveKing 212 is a 100 watt combo with a beautiful valve tone. It's a twin channel all tube amp with two 12" speakers encased in an open backed cabinet but unlike the "Classic" the valves are protected by a guard. I use this amp live for lead guitar in a blues band. Peavey are renowned for their reliability and it has never let me down. There are two inputs, 1 is for single coil guitars and 2 is for a high output guitar. The clean channel has volume, bass, middle and treble controls. These don't really seem to effect a huge change in the full warm sound of the amp. However, there is a Bright Switch which boosts the treble very significantly. ...When I was investigating which PA speakers to invest in, Peavey were the ones that everyone I know seemed to recommend. I tried out a few pairs (which I will review on here in time) but these are the ones I bought so I will start with these. The Pro-12 is from Peavey's 'Messenger Pro' range of speakers and, as speakers go, they are pretty good to look at. They are not massive and, according to the manual, they are 22.6" high, 16.3" wide and 14" deep. I won't argue with that. They are fairly easy to carry as they have well placed and comfortable handles on both sides of the speaker unit. I wouldn't like to carry them very far as they are quite heavy. Its quite easy to get them mounted onto speakers stands which is something that I think is very very important. The speaker unit is covered in the black carpet material that seems to be...

A truly classic amp

Advantages: Great sound, Very affordable

...I've been using a Peavey Classic 50 410 combo professionally for ten years now, and amidst hundreds of other higher priced amplifiers, I have to say that this may be the best all around tube combo ever built. The classic 50 has a character that is entirely it's own. The sound is clearly inspired by the vintage Fender amps of the late 50's and 60's, with a tonal clarity especially similar to an old blackface deluxe. However, unlike the old Fenders, the Peavey has oodles of clean headroom (single coil pickups will NOT overdrive the clean preamp side without a front end boost) and the overdriven sounds never get that bottom end "floppiness" that old Fenders always seem to have at high volumes. Amped Out!

Advantages: Very Funny, really quirky, very good to pick up and play, value for money ++

...Amped 3 is the third game in a line of snowboarding games from Indie Built/2K Sports and it expands on the previous two games in the fact that again it is a X-Box exclusive. Advantages: loud for 15watts, build quality, value for money

...This was the second practice amp I have purchased, the first one being a Fender Frontman 15G. To be honest this knocks the socks off the Fender amp on all fronts. Styling and build: The look of it is typical Peavey styling, simple but suprisingly attractive. Looks simple and the black and silver/red lines really make it look more expensive and professional. The build quality of it is very impressive, i've knocked this over, dropped it and spilt thing (mainly beer) over it and it still works.
