...a couple of blocks away so is a very short walk, and some major shopping can be done just round the corner where the world-famous Macys is. There are better hotels and the facilities were fairly basic so if you are looking for something special (e.g. honeymoon) then I would suggest you look elsewhere and spend more on a hotel that doesn't fall into the budget category. Hotel Pennsylvania suited our requirements perfectly - central location, clean and comfortable, and a place to sleep. Overall, I would recommend this hotel to those looking for budget accommodation. Perhaps the biggest indicator of how I feel about this hotel is the fact that I would stay there again if I was to go back to New York....

New York, Pennsylvania and New Jersey

Advantages: Great variety with much to explore
Disadvantages: Many industrial areas

...This is an opinion on the area of New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. I felt it was more useful to cover the three areas in one opinion as each are close to each other. Pennsylvania ------------- Penssylvania is a state full of beauty. It has some of the most beautiful mountains in the world, dotted with forests that make a trip through them pleasant and awe inspiring. If the beauty is not satisfying enough there are several major cities and other attractions all around the state. Philadelphia is perhaps the most famous city, with a history that stems back to the foundation of the United States. The architecture is beautiful, and the atmosphere is quiet and unassuming. Philadelphia Pennsylvania

Advantages: Great City/No homeless/ Interesting sites
Disadvantages: broken public phones /shops closed early

...of a wait at the restaurant. The servers were very polite and very professional, [something that I didn?t expect since their ?uniforms? were black t shirts with pictures of Mo on them. This was a very nice restaurant with reasonable prices and I would visit there again. I must be honest and silly, I have no clue what the name of the restaurant was, but I?m sure it?s online here somewhere. There are a few landmarks or things to commemorate the Three Stooges in Philadelphia because seems one of them was born here in Pennsylvania. Along the same route there was a nice Pizza store also, all the comforts of home. The Amish Experience.

Advantages: A relaxing break that envigorates and restores you.
Disadvantages: You do need transport ie a hired car to be able to see what you want when you want.

...flight was with US Airways, equally as good if not better with extra leg room to boot which was essential on a longhall flight. I arrived once more at Philadelphia International Airport, bags in tow and a hired car waiting for me. I needed my passport and my drivers license and a deposit which was my credit card number. No problem, I picked the car up and loaded my bags and off I went to meet my friend. The very next day we drove down to The Dutch Country, not too far into Pennsylvania, a journey of around an hour and half from where we were in New Jersey. Location, Location, Location

Advantages: Great Location and Price
Disadvantages: Needed modernising (and now has been)

...I have been to New York City twice (I love it) the first time I went was with friends and I did not have a lot to do with the arrangements and bookings, we stayed in a hotel quite far away from mid town. The second time I visited I went with my mum, who had never been and I'd decided we needed somewhere central, although Manhattan isn't massive you want to be near all the touristy bits and pieces. So after looking around I decided being in the thick of it probably wasn't an option as it was all quite expensive. Then I found the Pennsylvania, opposite Madison Square Garden's and Penn Station, 2 blocks from Macy's, 2 blocks west of the Empire State Building, I thought it was great and had many more attractions around the corner. It's actual location is west 32nd and 7th. I love the way they say it, sounds all New York like...

Home Of The Amish

Advantages: It's so fascinating learning about the Amish people and their ways. The lifestyle situation is amazing too.
Disadvantages: If you dont have a car it's a bit hard to get around all the villages, but still quite possible without. Also, souvenirs etc. are quite expensive.

...If your going to Pennsylvania, be sure to visit the Pennsylvania Dutch Country - It's the most fascinating place I've ever visited! I went in March 2001, and it's definately something! Lancaster, Intercourse & Stasburg I found were the best places within this area. It's the home of the Amish people. For those of you who arent familiar with this, the Amish are a religion that dont believe in modern day things such as electricity, cars, full schooling, and even buttons.on their clothes!!! It's their religion, and it's fascinating seeing their way of life. They travel around in horse drawn buggies, and wear only dark clothing. The World Will Little Note...

Advantages: As beautifully moving experience
Disadvantages: One day is not enough

...During the summer months the price of airfare raises significantly. This is due to families going on vacations thus limiting the amounts of seats available. This puts a pinch on the business traveler who is looking to save money on airfare. In order to keep prices down I usually connect through cities instead of taking direct flights. The worst case scenario for me is when I have to fly out on Saturday as Saturday night stays significantly reduce the airfare. When I am faced with this situation I usually try to take along my wife or incorporate a side trip into the package. I had some business to attend to in New Jersey early this week and since my wife and family were already visiting friends in Mobile, I decided that I would fly into Philadelphia and make the short drive out to Gettysburg, Pennsylvania.
