Pentax produces pretty perfect pictures!
Advantages: Great build quality, easy to use and good picture quality.
Disadvantages: No image stabalisation and no wide angle capability in the lens.
...As I am sure most Ciao members will now know, I am a professional photographer but as well as taking pictures I also hold photography seminars at my local camera club and over the last few years I have become somewhat of a target for sales persons asking me to try out their latest digital cameras and give talks and written reviews on them.
I figured a couple of years back if I was going to be testing out all these cameras and doing reviews anyway then I may as well be posting them on Ciao and Dooyoo and making some money for charity which as you well know is what I do now.
The latest camera to be handed to me is the Pentax Optio M60 and as you read on you will find that this little digital camera is a real breath of fresh air. For months now I have been handed very expensive digital point and shoot cameras that claim to be able...

Pentax Optio M20
Advantages: Good range of features.
Disadvantages: None that I have discovered yet.
...I bought this camera about 6months ago at a discounted price. I find it has a lot of features and the quality of the pictures very acceptable.
I particularly like the good sized screen which makes reviewing the pics easy and practical. Comparing this with my last digital camera which was a Konica Revio KD-400z I find the Optio M20 a big step up in terms of functionality. I also like the ability to resize a picture after the shot which means you can effectively increase the zoom capbility. I have used this to snap a ship on the horizon at full zoom and then using the trimming function retake which brought the ship into much closer view. However at this point clarity was compromised as expected. Altogether a very acceptable camera for my needs....

Pentax Optio M20 Quality on a Budget
Advantages: Excellent outdoor picture quality, value for money, ease of use.
Disadvantages: Indoor picture quality, no carry case.
...The Pentax Optio M20 was given to me as a present on christmas 2006. While i am not a passionate photographer, i do enjoy taking pictures and wanted a camera to take pictures of university nights out as well as my travels around the world.
The camara is packed full of features for taking photos such as portrait mode, sports photo mode, pet photo mode, food photo mode plus many many more.
It also has an excellent blur reduction facility which is very good for me as i have quite unsteady hands.
The maximum picture quality setting for the camera is 7 megapixels but this can be lowered to allow for more photographs to be stored on the memory card at the expense of quality, although not a huge quality sacrafice. However i have used it on the 7 megapixel setting and have had ample room for all the photographs i ever need to store...

Pentax Optio S10
Advantages: Large display screen, easy to use
Disadvantages: I haven't found any
...I was given the Pentax Optio S10 as a birthday present 2 months ago to replace my film camera and quite honestly I was convinced I would hate it and thought it was far too small and would be fiddly and not take photos as good as my SLR.
Well I have to say I've been made to eat my words, Firstly the quality of the pictures is totally amazing, very crisp and clear, even when printed at A4 size they don't lose any clarity.
The display screen is much larger than on many small digital cameras and makes it easy to use.
The controls are very easy to use, when you click onto the mode screen there is a clear symbol for each type of operation and when you click on it, it gives a brief description of what it does which saves from having to consult the manual all the time.
The battery life is a real plus as I'd heard that many digital cameras...

Pentax Optio MX digital camera/ camcorder
Advantages: Digital Camera and Camcorder in One!!
Disadvantages: Not many
..., Sharpness, and Saturation adjustments with bracketing.
Multi-Segment, Center-Weighted, and Spot metering modes.
Sensitivity setting with three ISO equivalents (100, 200, and 400) and an Auto setting.
Adjustable autofocus area and available manual focus control.
PictBridge compatibility.
USB cable for connection to a computer (driver software included).
My experience with Pentax Optio MX:
Pros:
Firstly, I'm not an experienced photographer myself, and when we first got the camera I was a bit overwhelmed by all the menus and settings it has (being a woman and all that), but it didn't take long to get used to it, and soon mastered the basics of it.
It is easy enough to use for what I needed it for, which I guess is what the majority of people need a digital camera for, family photos, holiday...

Snap happy with the Pentax Optio E40
Advantages: attractive, light and portable, ease of use, multiple functions, large LCD display window,
Disadvantages: maybe just not as good as the top of the range flashy brands?
...at night or in the dark don't seem to turn out well for the majority. The camera has to be held very still for a period of time longer than that to take a normal photo (but less than 10 secs - I find it to be about 5 or 6 seconds before the photo is taken and the image appears on the screen) to avoid blurry imaging, and if you can master this as well as the flash option, then you might just be lucky. The mode itself recommends using a tripod on this mode to reduce blurGenerally the images on the screen are a good indication of how the photo will turn out, but I usually find they look better when displayed on a computer screen.
Despite all of these modes, I generally take most of my pictures on AUTO PICTURE, which is supposed to choose the most appropriate setting on the camera when taking the picture depending on the conditions. I'm not sure...

Best value and lots of fun
Advantages: Slim, light, Good Quality
Disadvantages: None so far but cant answer for a professional.
...The PENTAX Optio M60 is a slim 10-megapixel, 5x zoom ultra-compact Digital Camera i recently purchased for £100 including VAT. Not being a professional photographer most of the camera's use as been for fun with the occasional attempt at some landscape shooting but never the less even with my amateur hand still gives good quality pictures.
The camera is aluminium and well made adding to the products value for money as it looks alot more expensive than it actually is. Looking more functional than flash it is easy to hold with a finger grip on the front and an area on the back for your thumb. The camera is small, less then 10cm in length and 6cm in depth. The camera's layout is good with the buttons well spaced making it easy to use. With the batteryand memory card its still very light and easy to carry due to its size. Its the kinda...

Pentax Optio S50 is great.
Advantages: compact,well built,full manual control,excellent macro.
Disadvantages: response could be a bit faster
...I spent about 6 hours reading camera reviews in magazines and online before purchasing a Pentax Optio s50. I paid £160 in the summer of 2005, which was a bargain then and it's probably a lot cheaper now.
The Good points:
I would call this camera a professional compact, it is small enough to fit in your pocket but with enough professional touches to make it a tool rather than a toy. For example you can attach it to a tripod, a lot of small silver compacts don't have that ability and show them up as being 'fun snappers' rather than for someone who cares about the photos they take.
Sturdy build; all metal case. Decent weight to it. Not cheap and plastic!
Extensive modes of operation from full auto 'point and click' to full manual control of Focus, light modes, exposure time up to 4 seconds, light sensitivity (ISO...

An Interesting All-Rounder ...
Advantages: Amazing Value - Lots of Menu Options and Playful Extras
Disadvantages: No Case Provided
...-eye yourself on the computer, and you can alter the pixel size before you upload it - the min. being 640 pixels and the maximum 7 mega pixels. The manual explains to you that the 640 is ideal for emailing and placing on websites and due to using larger memory the highest (7mp) is best for printing large photos or sending to companies for printing on larger things like canvas etc.
SUMMARY AT LAST!
Okay, I like this camera and I'm experienced with dig. cameras but not a professional. The menu is simple to use and the mode section even simpler so that's great if you want to buy one for a teenager or for someone that's using a dig. camera for the first time.
It can be as complex or as simple as you like but I recommend reading the manual for tips and visiting the Pentax website for even more advice. They have a club that you can join if you...
