...I was given the Pentax Optio S10 as a birthday present 2 months ago to replace my film camera and quite honestly I was convinced I would hate it and thought it was far too small and would be fiddly and not take photos as good as my SLR. Well I have to say I've been made to eat my words, Firstly the quality of the pictures is totally amazing, very crisp and clear, even when printed at A4 size they don't lose any clarity. The display screen is much larger than on many small digital cameras and makes it easy to use. The controls are very easy to use, when you click onto the mode screen there is a clear symbol for each type of operation and when you click on it, it gives a brief description of what it does which saves from having to consult the manual all the time. The battery life is a real plus as I'd heard that many digital cameras...

Pentax Optio S50 is great.

Advantages: compact,well built,full manual control,excellent macro.
Disadvantages: response could be a bit faster

...I spent about 6 hours reading camera reviews in magazines and online before purchasing a Pentax Optio s50. I paid £160 in the summer of 2005, which was a bargain then and it's probably a lot cheaper now. The Good points: I would call this camera a professional compact, it is small enough to fit in your pocket but with enough professional touches to make it a tool rather than a toy. For example you can attach it to a tripod, a lot of small silver compacts don't have that ability and show them up as being 'fun snappers' rather than for someone who cares about the photos they take. Pentax Optio S5i

Advantages: It has everything you could want and more and it's so easy to use
Disadvantages: Very small for big hands

...A fantastic small camera with every feature you could imagine. The price is very reasonable and many features are included in cameras costing twice as much. It is very easy to ue and has pre-set settings for any type of photo you wish to take, including black and white and sunsets. Make sure you charge the battery in the cradle supplied for a good 5/6 hours before using. The software provided is easy to use and set up on your PC as long as you have a basic PC knowledge (mainly follow the options) Make sure you get a decent size memory card as the 64Mb card that comes with the S5i does not hold too many pictures. If you are going to do any video's then a 512Mb will get you about 30mins worth or 1000 photo's....

  Pentax produces pretty perfect pictures!

Advantages: Great build quality, easy to use and good picture quality.
Disadvantages: No image stabalisation and no wide angle capability in the lens.
