Sony DEJ955 CD Walkman
Advantages: Small, light, long battery life
Disadvantages: cr***y headphones, price
...Quick Review : dead light and small, bloody good sound, long battery life, and easy to use. Shame about the supplied phones.
Full Review :-
I've just picked up my new DEJ955, after sending a DEJ925 back with a
problem - HED.CO.UK sorted the problem in only 8 days - I'd recommend them.
Anyway, back to the CD player. It plays CDs. It plays them very well.
According to the blurb (advertising info), it will handle CDRs and CDRWs. I've just tried these, and there is no problem at all, which is handy, as I'm slowly transferring my collection of vinyls onto CD, so the CDR playing is important to me. I’ve tried with both ‘Audio CDRs’ and the standard computer data CDRs. So long as there’s music on them, they play perfectly. Ah, the subtle sound of hiss and click from vinyl, faithfully playing on a CD! JOYJ...

DEJ955 - So far, Sony good
Advantages: Stylish, excellent quality, good features
Disadvantages: Easy to scratch, expensive
...If you want style and have the money to pay out then the Sony DEJ955 is the thing to get. Sony has made this portable CD player the smallest and lightest around. It is made out of Aluminium, which makes it look stylish and very light. I have mine in silver but you can also get it in a purple colour. I pick silver as I found out that it can scratch easily which isn?t good when your paying out about £150 for it (the price has dropped slightly since I bought it, if interested then you should look at paying about £130 give or take some). The sound quality is amazing, as you would expect form Sony.
When I bought it and opened up the box it came with everything, a funky charging cradle, the CD player itself, power adaptor, two Sony batteries, external AA battery holder, a case to put the CD player in, a set of earphones, a controller...

Nikon D90 - My Next 'Last' Camera
Advantages: Movies, LiveView, 12.3 mpixels, build quality, excellent lens range
Disadvantages: Still quite bulky for casual use. Expensive if that's all you want it for
...There?s been a legion of digital cameras that have passed through my hands since they started to become a serious contender for 35mm?s domination of the amateur market. Going from memory, they?ve included Philips, Casio, Canon, Nikon and errr?..Nikon. Of course the last one, my first DSLR, a Nikon D70 was going to be the last; but then we all say that don?t we, lads?
What I really meant was ?the last for quite a while?.
LOOKS LIKE THE ?QUITE A WHILE? HAS EXPIRED
Then my daughter started making noises about a night-school class in photography, where the minimum kit requirement just so happened to be a DSLR, and I got to thinking about letting her have the D70 for a ?song?, whilst good ol? Dad treats himself to the later and much higher-specified D90.
Since I bought the D70 four or five years back, things have moved on apace...

Pentium D, Just do It!!
Advantages: Dual Core, Fast Clock Speed, Overclocking, 4mb cach
Disadvantages: slower than the newer core 2 duo range
...I have had this processor for almost a year now, the price i paid at purchase was around £99. I have had no problems with the processor and it has worked well for me.
I have this processor installed in the following rig and it has worked great for both gaming and work based activity.
Rig:
Processor: Intel Pentium D 945 / 3.4 GHz processor (This one)
MotherBoard: Asus P5N32-SLI SE Deluxe
Ram: 3GB (3x1GB Sticks)
Graphics: Nvidia 7600GT 256mb
HDD: 2x250GB and a 160gb (all SATAII)
Disk Drives: DVD-RW (Dual Layer)
I use this system for gaming and the processor has done a very good job of playing games, Ripping and Burning music and movies and a lot of Compression and De-Compression.
Processor Specs:
Processor Type: Intel Pentium D 945
Clock Speed: 3.4 GHz
Bus Speed...

Extreme Repairs
Advantages: smells nice, works
Disadvantages: pricey
...Interbond Conditioning System gives a unique 3D Repair Complex of proteins, ceramides and liquids to help give strength, cuticle reinforcement and protective resurfacing. It aims to make the hair look healthy again, shiny and manageable. This is a lot of promises which I did hope that my shampoo would aim to do but it was a matter of putting it to the test. Before using the shampoo I had been using the Redken fuel treatments in the Extreme range which are small tubes you break open and leave in your hair for up to 10 minutes to let it take effect and they did leave my hair more manageable.
The shampoo is quite a thick one which is different from most I have used it has a thicker consistency and smells just like a salon with that lightly fruity scent to it which I love as it reminds me of being at the hairdresser. If you lift up the lid...

pentium d 935. extreamly good and very cheap
Advantages: very fast, capable processor, very cheap
Disadvantages: faster fan needed for overclocking
...This is an extremely capable mid range processor.
If you are looking to upgrade your computer to a very good standard without having to pay hundreds of pounds then this is the processor for you. I have had this processor for just over a week now and it has proved to be very good. The 3.20 GHz clock speed is extremely fast and is capable of running most applications to a very good speed. Also the fact that it is dual core has really impressed me. All this for such a cheap price. There is a 2x2mb cache on this which is very good, you would get better with the £300+ processors but for this price it is very good. I have this set up with an as rock motherboard and 1 GB of ddr2 667 MHz memory. This runs very well and is very smooth for intensive applications such as video editing.
This processor is a socket 775 one which you need to be...

My experience of the Nikon D90 as an amateur photographer.
Advantages: Excellent picture quality, lots of useful features, well designed controls, great kit lens
Disadvantages: More expensive than some other DSLRs, quite big and heavy, limited movie mode
... How I made my choice
I recently bought the D90 to upgrade from my Olympus 560UZ bridge camera, so this is my first foray into DSLR photography. Most people starting in DSLR photography will opt for the cheaper D40, or the D60, D70 and D80. I am not particularly rich, and in the end chose the D90 because I didn't want to grow out of the smaller DSLR and have to buy a new body quickly. I have found that the prices of Nikon DSLRs haven't decreased significantly over the last 3 years, so I decided (maybe wrongly) that this option would save me money in the long run. I found that it is very important to go into a shop and hold the camera in your hands before making a choice. All the photography shop assistants said that the Canon series was just as good as the Nikons, but I discounted them because I didn't get on with the feel...

Logitech Wingman Extreme Digital 3D
Advantages: Comfortable to use, sturdy, and offering a good range of controls
Disadvantages: none
...I have been looking to replace my joystick, ever since my Thrustmaster F16 replica finally bit the dust. I wanted to get a quality controller, but I couldn't afford to stretch my budget to accomodate force feedback. It was after a little investigating that I stumbled upon Logitech's excellent Wingman Extreme Digital 3D.
>Overview and Value for money<
---------------------------------------
The Wingman Extreme Digital 3D is no doubt Logitech's mainstream joystick. It offers a good balance of functionality/comfort at a reasonable price. The joystick does not have force feedback, which adds a sense of vibrational realism to your games - but at this price it is to be expected. As far as I remember the joystick typically retails around £25. I feel that this is a very reasonable price, given the quality of this controller...

Intel Pentium D E5200 Overclockers budget king and luck tester
Advantages: fast and cheap
Disadvantages: low L2 cache and overclocking relies on luck
...keep the power saving settings on you Mobo. overclocking it to 3Ghz I put my electricity bill up by £100 and that is something to be worrying about. remember this CPU is good for value but for true value you want to be avoiding major power consumption.
for Gaming this CPU does incredibly well. for general home usage this CPU on stock will be more than enough. for demanding applications and HD encoding / decoding it does get a bit of lag and that was with a good 512MB Nvidia Geforce 9600 GT OCX (max overclock) . so I'd recommend this to any one who's low on money and needs performance but for anyone willing to spend a little more try going for a higher range CPU to avoid getting a bad chip....

Logitech Extreme-ly annoying
Advantages: Twist stick, lots of buttons, POV hat
Disadvantages: Twist now constantly pulls to the left, only suitable for right-handed users
...Generally speaking, anyone who dabbles in the world of flight simulators, be it of the civil or military variety, needs a good joystick with enough buttons to cover the basics (Gear up/down, flaps, change weapons, shoot, trim control surfaces, etc.) and some form of rudder and throttle control. The Logitech Extreme 3D Pro Twist meets these criteria and so seems like a good buy, but all is not as it seems...
Yes, it offers a total of twelve buttons. One trigger, four on the top, one thumb switch on the stick and six on the base. That is more than enough to cover the functions needed to get any budding pilot flying without too many moves to the keyboard. The last thing anyone needs it to have to look down at the keyboard when on final approach just to adjust the flaps so the Logitech scores full points there. The POV hat switch is...
