Great for £50
Review of Intel Pentium Dual Core E2140 / 1.6 GHz processor by
k800ifan07
Advantages: 2 Cores, Quite
Disadvantages: -
...I got This Product in decemeber in replace my old Altlon 64 setup. The Great thing about this CPU is that the vaule is Very Good. I have played Hellgate London and MOH Airborne without any problems whatsoever. The CPU is Clocked at 1.6Ghz X 2 (3.2Ghz). The CPU perforamce on windows Vista is Very Good. People say to me That this CPU is more for Office. But i fell It has the power to run Games which need around 2.8Ghz to run. also this CPU & Fan is a lot more quite than my old CPU.
Also the CPU can Cope to be overclocked to around 2.0Ghz. But it is not recommand to run over 1.6Ghz. The CPU At times run at 2 Different Speeds Such as 1.1Ghz when the computer is not being used.
This CPU is Ideal if you have a low budget but want to get the best out of your games....

Cheap core duo based processor
Review of Intel Pentium Dual Core E2140 / 1.6 GHz processor by
neo1983
Advantages: Price, price, stability, can be overclocked, did I noticed price
Disadvantages: average performer
...This is the last based core duo processor, used for the low end market. But this doesn't mean that the processor is weak. I personally use now it's brother E2160 that is a few faster. As a difference from their brothers, the E4000 and the E 6000 family this processor has a smaller L2 cache of only 1 Mb, instead of 2Mb or 4Mb. The performance hit varies from almost 0% (rendering programs, 3dmax) to a full 35% games at the same frequency, but the price is astonishing. 100% RECOMMENDED
Speed: lowest dual core core speed, but enough for all modern aplications, but the processor can be really overclocked...50-90 % with great speed bonuses. Not really recommended for games.
Stability: greatest as all new lintel processors
Power consumption: best power consumption for years. draws about 45-50w at full speed and 12w idle (L2 great stepping...

Pentium E2140
Review of Intel Pentium Dual Core E2140 / 1.6 GHz processor by
leeglf
Advantages: High Performance, Dual Core at a cheap price
Disadvantages: none as of yet
...I purchased this processor as a cheap temporary cpu for my htpc (home theatre pc).
And i have to say it is alot better than i first hoped, although this has quite a slow speed rating (1.6GHz) compared to some of the cpu's available today. this more than outperforms nearly every previous generation processors that came before it!
i managed to speed this processor up to 2.4GHz just by raising the FSB in my computers BIOS making it exceptional value for money!
Highly advised if you know your way around a computer BIOS.
This cpu also runs at some very low temps i am using this in my HTPC passively cooled (no fan) using a third party heatsink and it is only producing temps in the low 30s. And because it is being run with no fan it is 100% quiet.
I would recommend this processor to anyone planning on building a budget pc or a quiet HTPC....

Lenovo 3000 N200 - well worth it
Review of Lenovo 3000 N200 0769 - Pentium Dual Core T2330 1.6 GHz - 15.4" TFT by
myfanwy3105
Advantages: Dual Core Processor, Fingerprint sensor
Disadvantages: Weight, size
...I bought this laptop about 4 months ago, and it was so worth it! It may be bigger than some laptops but feels a lot more substantial. So far Vista has not caused any problems - fingers crossed - however I have not installed many new programs so have not had to search for patches. The lenovo maintenance and security options have proved useful. Bit slow to start up, but that could be due to the fact that i havnt taken as much care with it as it should. Also, the battery life is not the best, but the use of power saver option improves this greatly in my opinion. Dual core processor has made this a lot quicker than my old laptop. Overall I have found this a very worthwhile purchase....

E2140 - Awesome Budget Chip!
Review of Intel Pentium Dual Core E2140 / 1.6 GHz processor by
LRDMan
Advantages: Cheap, powerful, awesome overclocking
Disadvantages: Fairly small cache
...I was looking for a low budget chip for a new computer, with decent overclockability, and after looking around, chose the E2140.
The E2140 really is a great chip, whether its for a basic computer or powerful gaming machine, it can suit most peoples needs!
At stock speeds, there is plenty of power for most daily tasks, which is great from a CPU that costs just £45, considering you can pay in excess of £500 for a processor.
As well as performing well at stock, the E2140 overclocks very well - I managed to reach 3Ghz, on standard volts and cooling. This is an awesome overclocker, and very easy too.
Overall, I would recommend this to just about anyone looking to build a fairly low budget PC. It offers great value for money, and with a little tweaking, it's power can nearly be doubled!...

Good value for money
Review of Intel Pentium Dual Core E2180 / 2 GHz processor by
zero2007
Advantages: Cheap, silent, easy to overclock
Disadvantages: Heatsink can be a bit fiddlly to install
...With the right motherboard this cpu can be overclocked to 3 GHZ with no problem.
Even on a cheap motherboard (abit ip95)i have overclocked to 2.2GHz just by raising the fsb by 10%
The processor is excellent for anyone building a cheap HTPC teamed up with 1GB DDR/DDR2 ram and a cheap pci graphics card this will run windows vista ultimate with ease.
The dual core enables you to run multi applications without any slow down of the pc.
It is nearly silent with the supplied fan and heatsink and even overclocked it run cooler than my previous cpu (pentuim 4 2.8)
I have benchmarked this processor against a E4300 and can see no difference in performance in everyday use.
Installation couldn't be easier altought the clips on the the heatsink can be a bit fiddly....

Need for speed
Review of AMD Athlon XP 3000+ processor by
q_trik1
Advantages: Fast and cheap
Disadvantages: Slower than Pentium 4
...I wanted to build a gaming PC. I was torn apart of buying an expensive Pentium 4 3.0 GHZ and an Athlon Xp 3000+. If I buy the Pentium processor I will have very little room in choosing a quality video card, so I opted to buy the less expensive processor. Going for Athlon XP 3000+ is really a tough one,I really have to sacrifice the processor speed to be able to buy a more expensive video card.
The Athlon XP 3000+ is a very nice processor, This processor we is based upon the core codename Barton. This new core is made on a new 0.13-micron process fabrication process It has a 333 mhz front side bus and a 512kb L2 cache while the thorougbred core has a 266 front side bus and a 512kb L2 cache. This new core is based on a 0.13 micron technology. The term “3000+” does not mean that it is running on a 3.0 GHZ, it just means that it...

AMD turion tl-58:- a great prcessor all round
Review of AMD Turion 64 X2 mobile technology TL-58 processor ( mobile ) by
DC-DanielColeflax
Advantages: speed, perormance, no dodgy intel media graphics
Disadvantages: none really
...I have a nice little Acer Aspire 5520G laptop with this processor, that I bought last December from Tesco Direct. One of my major worries when I bought the laptop was that it had an AMD processor as apposed to an intel processor. In the past I have used intel Pentium D, Intel Pentium Dual Core, Intel Celeron M, Intel Celeron D, Intel Core 2 Duo, Intel Pentium 3 and well you get the idea, lots and lots of Intel processors. Having never used AMD before I sought advice from an IT expert at college and asked whether there were any major differences or problems with AMD. He told me that although AMD had had some bad press in the past they had been getting better and that he had a computer that used an AMD Duron that was fine. After this I opted to buy the computer regardless of the AMD processor, and I am very glad I did.
SPEED...
