HP 530 - Core Duo T2050 1.6 GHz - 15.4" TFT
Review of HP 530 - Core Duo T2050 1.6 GHz - 15.4" TFT by
sunderlandcomputers
Advantages: Cost, Reliability, Battery Life, WIFI Range
Disadvantages: Display not best, memory - not enough
...So what's it got and is it worth it.
My 530 come with Vista Home Basic 32 pre-installed with the option of the Business 32 version for a little extra. It's powered by an IntelCore Due T2050 processor at 1.6GHz with 2MB level 2 cache and 533MHz FSB. The memory let's it down at only 512Mb, which struggles to keep up woth the demand of Vista.
The good news is that the memory can be upgraded to up to 2Gb, however we opted to trash Vista in favour of our ol favourite Windows XP Home.
Storage is a reasonable 80Gb SATA Hard Disk Drive and a combi DVD/CD RW drive wth double layer capability allows for essential backups, and writing speeds that won't keep you waiting.
The screen is 15.4 inches with WXGA Brightview technology.
There is a wired network adaptor as well as a wireless connection via a Broadcom 802.11 b/g, allowing...

Pentium E2140
Review of Intel Pentium Dual Core E2140 / 1.6 GHz processor by
leeglf
Advantages: High Performance, Dual Core at a cheap price
Disadvantages: none as of yet
...I purchased this processor as a cheap temporary cpu for my htpc (home theatre pc).
And i have to say it is alot better than i first hoped, although this has quite a slow speed rating (1.6GHz) compared to some of the cpu's available today. this more than outperforms nearly every previous generation processors that came before it!
i managed to speed this processor up to 2.4GHz just by raising the FSB in my computers BIOS making it exceptional value for money!
Highly advised if you know your way around a computer BIOS.
This cpu also runs at some very low temps i am using this in my HTPC passively cooled (no fan) using a third party heatsink and it is only producing temps in the low 30s. And because it is being run with no fan it is 100% quiet.
I would recommend this processor to anyone planning on building a budget pc...

Cheap core duo based processor
Review of Intel Pentium Dual Core E2140 / 1.6 GHz processor by
neo1983
Advantages: Price, price, stability, can be overclocked, did I noticed price
Disadvantages: average performer
...This is the last based core duo processor, used for the low end market. But this doesn't mean that the processor is weak. I personally use now it's brother E2160 that is a few faster. As a difference from their brothers, the E4000 and the E 6000 family this processor has a smaller L2 cache of only 1 Mb, instead of 2Mb or 4Mb. The performance hit varies from almost 0% (rendering programs, 3dmax) to a full 35% games at the same frequency, but the price is astonishing. 100% RECOMMENDED
Speed: lowest dual core core speed, but enough for all modern aplications, but the processor can be really overclocked...50-90 % with great speed bonuses. Not really recommended for games.
Stability: greatest as all new lintel processors
Power consumption: best power consumption for years. draws about 45-50w at full speed and 12w idle (L2 great...

Introducing core 2 duo at the lowest price
Review of Intel Pentium Dual Core E2160 / 1.8 GHz processor by
neo1983
Advantages: Greatest value and performance at the lowest price, highly overclockable
Disadvantages: Only 1MB L2 shared cache, performance hit in games
.... ◄ ◄ ◄
As I noted before the main differences excepting the name E2000(and also the fact that E2000 family are not called Core 2 duo but Pentium dual, despite the fact that are based on the same core 2 architecture) is the L2 cache size: 1MB while E4000 has 2MB and E6000 has mainly 4MB (some have also 2MB). Also a small difference is the FSB (front size bus), while E6000 has a 1066 FSB (1333 FSB the latest processors), E4000 and E2000 have only 800 Mhz FSB.
► ► ►The testing platform ◄ ◄ ◄
The testing platform is composed from a cheap but powerful and highly overclockable GIGABYTE GA-965P-S3 motherboard based on Intel 965 chipset, a Spire silent 500 W power supply source, 2 x1GB Dual Chanel DDR2 800 Adata Vitesta, an WD AAKS 500 GB hard disk drive and a MSI Radeon x1950 Pro 256 Mb...

E2180 pentium dual core CPU
Review of Intel Pentium Dual Core E2180 / 2 GHz processor by
dav1d_gogs73
Advantages: Cheap, Powerfull
Disadvantages: Small L2 cache
...This is brilliant processor for its small price. In fact i like it so much, im writing this review using it right now.
It is really easily over clocked using the right mother board. Personally, i have overclocked to 2.5Ghz using a cheap Gigabyte motherboard and an arctic cooling freezer 7 pro heat-sink fan unit. I have found that it is brilliant for multi-tasking. Even the programs that heavily use CPU power are done with ease on this powerful little processor, all down to its 2 cores. As for heat, obviously depending on case cooling and heat-sink fan, its not too bad. In my computer i have 3 additional 80cm fans for cooling as well as the heat-sink fan and im peaking at 45 degrees Celsius.
The only disadvantage i can see with the CPU would be the L2 cache size. At only 1GB its not as fast as the Core 2 Duo CPU's but at this price its...

Good all rounder good value
Review of ASUS X51RL AP030C - Pentium Dual Core T2330 1.6 GHz - 15.4" TFT by
staceyarcher
Advantages: Fast and efficient
Disadvantages: Memory upgrades limited.
...solidly built and fairly light weight to carry around. My only criticism with regards to build quality is the all too familiar lightweight flimsy plastic lid cover. I must say however that this is not something unique to Asus. As the screen is just about the most expensive part to replace on a laptop, it always amazes me why manufacturers offer it so little protection.
Although this is down to personal choice, I do think the keyboard design looks a little bit IBM Thinkpad in it's design and dated.

The laptop is fitted with the newer type Dual Core processor, in the form of an Intel T2330 rated at 1.67 GHz. As this is dual core, it gives you the equivalent of a 3.2 GHz single core CPU. I must say that compared to my old Dell using a 1.8 GHz single core, there is a very noticeable...

Review of Dell Inspiron 530 - Pentium Dual Core E2140 1.6 GHz - 17" TFT by
Stanislav69
Advantages: double proccessor, never overheats, very quiet, selection of grpahics cards, enclosed in silver casing
Disadvantages: none
...The Dell Inspiron 530 was a birthday present for me and is a very stylish and new computer.
This computer is very stylish because of the silver casing which covers the actual black computer box its self. Bothe DVD and optional blue ray disc drives are hidden making it look plain which also makes it look very neat and tidy. The Dual Core processor is capable of much more than it seems. All though Core 2 duo would be much better, the PC is able to stay on 24/7 without over heating. This processor also means that the 1.4Ghz is doubled meaning that the total output is actually a big 2.8Ghz! (reliable source - My dad who works for an IT buisness as a programer). There is also a selection of graphics cards to choose with this proccessor if bought online from dell. This computer makes little noise and is very quiet compared with my mums...

SONY VAIO NR21J/S - Budget Laptop from Sony
Review of Sony VAIO NR21J/S - Pentium Dual Core T2330 1.6 GHz - 15.4" TFT by
mascall84
Advantages: Price, Features, Battery Life.
Disadvantages: No standalone Graphics card .
...A fully featured VAIO notebook for under £500. This has to be worth looking into. Sony VAIO Notebooks are famous for being industry leaders but also for being overpriced. Now this Laptop has the quality and stylish look as do all VAIO's but not the price tag. With a 15.4" X-Black LCD you are garunteed to have a great picture whatever applications you may be using. However it only has on-board graphics and not a standalone card like most other VAIO's this obviously helps bring down the price but does affect the overall functionality of the product. But it is nice to see Sony bring out a notebook at an affordable price that does everything the majority of laptop users require. With a standard 2 GB RAM and a Dual Core T2330 1.6Ghz Processor This is definitely not a low end machine.
Capable of running the most intensive programs available...

Sony VAIO
Review of Sony VAIO NR21J/S - Pentium Dual Core T2330 1.6 GHz - 15.4" TFT by
packerlist
Advantages: LONG BATTERY LIFE AND GOOD VALUE FOR MONEY.
Disadvantages: : NO GRAPHIC CARD.
...in the machine is that of all the laptops that I have seen, this is the most long lasting machine I have come across in terms of battery life duration.
While moving with it, I rely so much on because of the long battery life and It really serves me well unlike the other few laptops that I have used that has very short battery life. It also has a USB socket where external hard drives like flash and other memory device could be sloughed in.
The Sony notebook is regarded as the leaders in notebooks and computer accessories makers.
So with all these features, the device is a masterpiece and to me, it is the best I have used.
It has standard 2GB RAM and dual core 1.6Ghz processor.
It also runs windows premium and with office 2007ready and that is 90-day trial.
It also comes with a year warranty.
Great value for money...
