The GPS receiver is GLOBALSAT BU353 SIRFSTAR III USB GPS RECEIVER, bundle with PC Navigator 8 from Easydevices.co.uk The receiver has its own software (GPSinfo) and after installation the receiver plugged in to the USB port, and soon found the available satallites displayed on the GPSinfo software. Next I installed the PC Navigator 8 software. I was please to find the package easy to use, and was soon on the road testing the setup, which worked seamlessly. All the software and hardware are all very capable. The large 7 inch display of the EEE is more than adequate. The main problem with this attitude is that although you can get everything you want all in one package, the overall quality of the finished products is generally inferior to the quality of individual units. Take the Mitac Mio. I like PDAs - they combine a media player (to play both MP3's and JPEG video), personal organiser, a gaming machine and several other items all in one. However, the sound quality of a PDA is not up to that of an Ipod. The video quality of a PDA is not up to that of a portable DVD player. Point made? That said, if you are on a train it is awkward to carry an Ipod, portable DVD player, personal organiser etc etc. It is all about compromise and whilst the PDA quality is not...

I would like the speed camera feature to warn me of up coming cameras, it changes from white (no cameras) to amber (Camera detected 500 yds) and red with an alarm when you pass the camera. Maybe I need to check the setting again to see if I have set this feature up correctly. Because I am using the EE PC I needed to find a suitable mounting for the PC, and I tested the available mounts...

...When I decided too buy this product, I wasn't specifically looking for a handheld computer, I was after a decent (but inexpensive) GPS satellite navigation system; and the Acer n35 is not only the cheapest GPS-equipped handheld, it's actually cheaper than most dedicated sat-nav systems, so the fact that this device functions as a computer with numerous other facilities is a pure bonus! You can easily pay £400 for a dedicated portable sat-nav system like the Tom Tom Go, and similar amounts for sat-nav equipped handhelds, but the Acer can be had for as little as £240 brand new with full guarantee. You see already the main economic advantage, especially when you compare it to the four-figure sums that car manufacturers charge for built-in sat-nav systems.... The Acer n35 is basically the n30 without BlueTooth capability...

Another problem i found with the system was that the alerts that tell you when to turn to not tell you as near to the turnings as they should. This especially becomes a problem on motorways.
