A Personal Disappointment

HP PSC 1215 All in one printer/scanner/photocopier

Advantages: Its 3 in 1 so you don't have loads of cables everywhere

...and maps. But when I have printed out photgraphs their has been little white lines across the pictures. I have tried cleaning and realigning the catridge heads and it still hasn't made any difference. I have also tried adjusting the quality of the print out, but I still get the same results. I reckon that this is to do with the cartridge and not the actual printer. Scanner Quality ---------------------- The scanner quality is very good and the imaging on the pc is crystal clear, however I feel that the images may be slightly exposed and may need adjusting to get deeper colours. Copier Quality -------------------- I have only used the copier once or twice, but the copies that I done were a little bit patchy, but eligible. ...ink jet printers seem to be the common solution to every home personal computers hard copy situation but buying a cheap printer can work out costlier in the long run. The problem is the cartrages. Even a cheap inkjet printer can be brought for about £40 squid and have quite a decent quality of print but cartrages range from £15 squid to up to £40 and if the whole family are using it on regualar basis they mightent last very long. There are also special paper to buy like glossy for photo's and options to put the printer into a different mode to specialize for photos so these can take up more ink then in draft mode, so its important to look at the whole perspective on what the printer is to be used for and cartridge price before getting one in....

...Ok we bought our computer in 2000 and it was a package deal with printer, scanner etc and the printer was a Lexmark it was a fantastic printer. Then last year it started playing up and not printing correctly but as we never used the printer all that much at that time we really never bothered and it done the trick for my son printing out some of his pictures. One day we were in ASDA and we noticed they had the Lexmark Z23e on sale at £29.99, I had to look twice, as I didn't realise this item could be so cheap I think it was mainly to do with the printer we had was part of a package so I never really gave its price a second thought. The good thing about it is that it doesn't take up much space at all, it is 5.1" high, 8.1" deep and 17.5" wide, although you have to make sure there is plenty of room for the paper to come out at other...

And I do have to say, when buying your top up ink from Dell, it can get a little pricy. I have found a way around this however. Inktek do a Ink refill kit for this printer, it costs about £8, rather than £30 for a new cartridge you can get 1 bottle of each colour or 3 of the same, it comes with instructions and tools etc. The colour that gets used the fastest is the blue, this is due to printing black text. If you are going to attemp to refil your cartridge the computer will continue to tell you that you are out of ink, this is because the cartridge comes with a little chip in it to tell the printer how much ink is left.
