Storage For The Masses

Advantages: A decent capacity, pretty cheap, vertically mounted
Disadvantages: Not really all that portable, can be a bit noisy for a bedroom, it's grey!

..., there was a total refusal to write to it. So, do I recommend it? In a word - Yes! Whether it's for an extension of your current storage capabilities or as a back-up device it definitely does the job. If you're looking for a slim and sleek portable device then I can't recommend it, but as part of a stationary computer set-up then I definitely can. Oh, and it's also finally got my various files organised :)...

...I love this idea, whoever thought this up is a genius. A lot of families have storage problems my main pain in the backside is lack of room for excess bedding that i keep spare for guests and what not, So this is magnificent, how the air can be sucked out of the bag with any pipe vacuum cleaner and reduce the size of package to less than a quarter of the size. Brilliant for duvets and pillows i might add and to top it all off it keeps all those bugs away and when you do unpack them they smell as good as the day you washed them and put the items in there. Excellent I would rate these to anybody you can even use them for going abroad and storing your much loved items and reducing space which we all know must happen when traveling on a plane think of the goodies you can bring back !! Maxtor the ideal storage system, simple to use.

Advantages: Could hold up to 300 GB of storage
Disadvantages: The only one is standing it somewhere, not maxtors fault

...I bought this storage device as a backup for my computer files, as I work from home my computer is used by the rest of the family for personal and internet usage. So I was worried that my work which pays some of the wages towards the house could get corrupted by mutiple users of the same machine. I found that I needed to keep my work files backed up, but quickly, simply and efficiently. I have an 250 GB hard drive so in theory I can back up the whole of the drive onto my maxtors' drive it has a 300 GB capacity. Maxtor 3100 external hard disk is getting too old

Advantages: useful for backups

...The Maxtor Personal Storage 3100 is a line of external hard disks produced by Maxtor but eventually taken over by Seagate (which I suppose ATE Maxtor finally!). The fact that Seagate deals with the former Maxtor products is good because they have a very good customer service. I'm reviewing the 80GB one because it's the one I have in my hands right now. I bought it years ago for a fair price, nowadays I doubt they would even sell you one with so little capacity. The HD inside is an 80GB IDE (also known as P-ATA). Smaller capacity also means a smaller buffer, the 80GB has an 8MB buffer which is quite enough for its 80GB. Anyway I'll tell you what's in the box and then a list of good and bad features of this hard disk but first... ...
