Sacla Sun-Dried Tomato Pesto Sauce
Advantages: Tastes like real Italian Pesto, strong
Disadvantages: A little oily
...I am a big pasta fan as it's quick and easy to make in the evening but recently got bored with the usual tomato sauce such as Dolmio that I usually put over my pasta so set out to Sainsburys to find a new sauce when I came across these great pesto sauces from Sacla. They were only £1.39 a jar so I decided to try the sundried tomato one to begin with although they do come in ten other flavours:
Classic Pesto
Organic Green Pesto
Organic Tomato Pesto
Roasted Red pepper Pesto
Wild rocket pesto
Pesto Alla Genovese
Italian Fennel Pesto
Creamy vine ripened
Char-grilled aubergine
Coriander Pesto
Basically you cook your pasta and then spoon the Sacla pesto sauce over the pesto until it is covered in the sauce and the sauce is clinging to the pasta. I find for one person I generally use a third of a 190g jar and if you have four...

Pesto for Pasta
Advantages: Flavour, Aroma, Colour
Disadvantages: None
...Filippo Berio Classic Pesto
Pasta is such a wholesome and versatile ingredient to make a meal with. Go into any supermarket and you will see rows upon rows of various pasta sauces from various companies and most of these will make you a delicious meal in a relatively short time period. However something that is often overlooked as a pasta sauce is Pesto. It comes in many varieties although the variety that I am reviewing here is the "standard" green pesto, this one from Filippo Berio.
The 190Gr glass jar that I am reviewing contains: Fresh Ligurian Basil (32%), olive oil composed of refined oils and virgin olive oils (23%), peanut oil, grana padano cheese, cashew nuts, potatoes, salt, sugar, pecorino cheese, pine kernels, extra virgin olive oil, garlic and acidity regulator E575. another thing to mention is that the website lists...

Perk up your pasta and ciabatta with this pesto
Advantages: A taste of Italy from the jar
Disadvantages: It is finished so quickly
...This product is something I always like to keep a jar of handy in the fridge or cupboard "just in case". It has a good taste of sun-dried tomatoes with that little extra something from the pinenuts. Quite a reasonable proportion of olive oil present, though of course if one was Nigella enough to make one's own, you'd probably use all olive oil and no plain old vegetable oil!
But who cares really?
It is so great for adding a couple of spoons to a steaming bowl of cooked pasta for a quick and tasty meal and also for one of my little indulgences, which is to get some of these half-baked ciabatta bread squares from Tesco, or cut a couple of generous slices of a whole one, heat in oven til ready, take out, split in half, spread some Sacla Sundried tomato pesto on each slice, sprinkle over grated cheese (parmesan, cheddar, red...

The Besto Pesto
Advantages: Great taste, good value for money, versatile, reliable brand
Disadvantages: contains nuts not good if your allergic, small jars!
...the fridge for a couple of weeks after opening.
Serving suggestions:
The jar tells you to use 3 tablespoons (30g) which i'd say is about right as it has a stong distinctive flavour.
Packaging
190g glass jar (great as it can be recycled) packaged using the sacla logo on an orange label
Cost: £1.79 (sounds a lot but is well worth it)
Location in your average shop
You will normally find this alongside the other pasta sauces near the olive oil section of the supermarket
The Brand:
A well known trusted brand name, known for quality and diverse product range.
The Taste:
You open the jar and are hit by its smell. It smells fresh and full of flavours. It has a stong distincitve taste of red peppers and basil, it definately tiggles your taste buds.
Product range:
Green pesto, red pesto, wild rocket pesto, sweet pepper pesto...

SAUCY, PERKY PESTO
Advantages: Delicious, easy to use
Disadvantages: Contains nuts so may be unsuitable for those with allergies
...If you loved pasta like I loved pasta??mmmm!! I could live off pasta ? simply plain and unaccompanied or smothered with sauce and other goodies.
One of my favourites to go with pasta of any sort is the classic Pesto sauce. This one, by Sacla, is called Red Pesto despite the fact that it is green. Confusing, because they used to make a Green Pesto (now discontinued?) which seemed identical but this seems to have become red pesto (yes and its still green) Are you still with me?!
Anyway, I buy mine from Tescos in a 190g glass jar for £1.55. There are other varieties available ? black olive and sun-dried tomato among them but I prefer this one. It looks expensive but I think the price is good for what it is.
This is produced in Italy and contains chiefly basil, pine kernels, tomato, cheese and sunflower oil. I do like the black...

Hey Pesto , a quick easy pasta meal
Advantages: tasty
Disadvantages: none
...Sacla red pesto .Hubby came in yesterday morning after we had done the shopping thought he was a long time coming in as we had got out of the car together. Been talking to "John our" opposite neighbour he said invited him for a meal tonight that ok sound of me squealing YOU'VE DONE WHAT .
Muttering I went into the kitchen said ok it will have to be pasta and saccla red pesto sauce, I have lots of salad plenty of and lettuce. I can make a desert from the plums we picked from daughters tree.
Sacla make a variety of 9 pesto sauces a coriander one, a rocket one a red pepper one and others I can not remember tomato pesto sauce comes in a small squat jar weighing 190g. I usually have a jar or two of a pesto sauce of one kind or another in my store cupboard. I usually buy mine in Tesco for £1.65p.

RED TOMATO PESTO Buon Appetito
Advantages: tasty, tasty and taty
Disadvantages: not enough, I need MORE!
...So being half Italian I have to say I do love my pasta dishes. I don't eat them morning, noon and night as some stereotypical people may think but I do have pasta atleast 4 times a week. My favourite sauces are bolognese, tomato and ofcourse pesto. I like classic pesto which is green and also the more recently tried tomato pesto. I was out at an Italian restaurant when I had a pasta that tasted like pesto but was red then I was at the supermarket the other day and looked at the Sacla sauces and saw the other available options.
So, the pesto I picked was the Tomato Pesto by Sacla. I usually go for the Bertolli pesto but this time it had to be Sacla just because they have such catchy adverts at the moment with the sa, sa, sa advert and the guy painting the wall. Sacla is made in Italy, Asti to be precise and is then shipped over to...

Presto Pesto!!!
Advantages: Quick to cook tasty & versatile
Disadvantages: If you like pesto there aren't any
...Pesto is Italian for 'to pound' and when Monday has pounded all trace of the weekend out of us, and physical and mental energy levels are too low to prepare even the least ambitious fare (must be a winter thing), the evening meal we choose is spaghetti with Sacla char-grilled aubergine pesto. We've tried the other flavours but this variety ticks all the taste bud boxes at the moment. It's a stir-in sauce but what I do is heat a dollop in the saucepan from which I've removed the pasta to drain; add thin strips of cooked sliced pork and heat through till the first sizzle. Then the spaghetti goes back in and I stir till there's as even a coating as I can manage. I then transfer the mixture to a couple of bowls and serve with grated cheese, freshly ground black pepper and salt. Oh, and by the way, we use Asda's own 'spaghetti egg pasta...

Now this is what pasta was made for!!
Advantages: Great tasting quality product.
Disadvantages: None
...Bored with your pasta? Fancy something different? Well I may well have found it, a different type of pesto sauce. We have probably all had a traditional pesto, made from basil and pine nuts, well this is a variation on that. I?m sure that some of you creative type will quickly knock up your own sauce, but for us mere kitchen mortals this is the thing!
** What is it? **
This is a type of pesto sauce, to mix in with pasta, or add to potatoes. This pesto is made from rocket leaves and hazelnuts. The great thing about this sauce, is that once the pasta is ready, you just spoon some in, stir it up, then serve it up. Now I should be in for a real treat, as I love rocket leaves, I really like the peppery taste that there is to them.
** What?s the jar like? **
The jar is a really nice hexagonal shape, and weighs in at 165g...

Sauce With An Edge
Advantages: great tastes, goes with most things
Disadvantages: -
...If ever there's an offer to be had I will usually use it as a way to try out new products. I have a bit of a thing for trying out new sauces on my chips; I love Sweet and Sour or Sweet Chilli. However, I still love the originals like Tomato Ketchup and Brown sauce but if there's one thing I love for things like chicken dippers or nuggets then it has to be barbecue sauce! I love it but you can get so many variations, you just have to get it right and that is exactly where the product of HP's Wood smoke BBQ sauce comes in as it was my first time trying it.
The sauce, the packaging is nothing which is particularly eye catching. I was in Tesco at the time one of the larger stores, so they had a bigger range of barbecue sauces. They all were quite expensive though; well over £1 so I guess this must be a richer sauce. I looked at some but...
