Crate or Cage?

Advantages: Helps toilet training, secure and safe place for your dog
Disadvantages: Could be misused if you leave your dog in it for a long time, takes up quite a bit of space

...When you are preparing to bring a puppy home there are lots of things you need to have a bed, food and water bowls, toys, collar and a lead. Alongside all these items we also bought a Dog-it Animal Crate made by Hagen when we brought our puppy home in July. Why a crate? = Our breeder recommended a crate both for toilet training and also for providing the puppy with a safe area so he wouldn't come to any harm when we weren't there and also so he couldn't damage things when we were out. Rotastak cage, Nice to look at but has a few problems

Disadvantages: Fiddly, Problems with water bottle and wheel and Expensive

...can add to it to make it more exciting. If you have cats which may attack small animals in the generic wire cages this is perfect as it it self-contained and protects the animal. However, there are many disadvantages which outweigh the positives. Setup of the tubes is very complicated and fiddly and it is a bit of a struggle to attach the tubes together. The tubes also leak sawdust when your pet runs through them which leaves a pile of dust on your floor which is quite annoying. The water bottle is quite small but is adequate, however, I have had many problems with the ball getting stuck up inside the bottle which obviously is dangerous if you do not notice it. As the cage is mainly solid plastic it leaves no alternative but to use the Rotastak bottles. The exercise wheel becomes squeaky overtime and no amount of greasing stops...

Advantages: Herman Monster
Disadvantages: The wife of the family was annoying

...The plot revolves around the Creed family just moving into their new home beside a very busy road. Their neighbour meets and greets them. (He is played by the guy who played Herman Monster in the old tv series The Monsters.) He then takes them on a walk to Pet Sematary which is a Pet graveyard behind their house. Habitrail Cage

Advantages: Adequete ventilation, attractive, fun for pet.
Disadvantages: Quite small, additional tubing etc can be expensive.

...I recently brought a habitrail playground although it is basically the same as the safari but in different colours. I purchased it from Pampurred Pets for only £19.99. My first thoughts of this hamster cage were very good, i liked the fact that it came with a wheel, water bottle and food bowl. I also like that although it is a plastic cage, the hamster will still get plenty of ventilation as there are still some bars unlike many other plastic hamster cages. If you are thinking of buying this cage, you would be better off getting soem of the additional tubing as well to make the cage more interesting and to give your pet more to do. A disadvantage of this cage is that it is fairly small. After buying one of these cages i felt that it was too small for my hamster, and therefore bought another one the same and connected the two together...
