...I often advise cat owners on their pets' behavioural problems and one of the many things that I see pet owners complaining about frequently is about how expensive vets' bills can be today. Often medication along with vaccines or even blood and other tests, dental care and not to mention the vet's fee on its own, can cost a fortune (with many medical cases not always covered by all pet insurances). I guess pet owners wouldn't complain that much if a visit to the vet could solve the problem once and for all but quite often now I see pet carers questioning the necessity and the effectiveness of the medication prescribed by their vet. Are all these visits and medication prescribed by the vets in all cases justified? Do they really help our pets or do they do more damage? Some believe that cats don't really need so many vaccines...

These puzzles are suitable for children aged 18 months and over. I use them with older special needs pupils. Although the pictures of the pets are cute and big eyed they are not over babyish. Included in this set of 6 puzzles is a budgie, a dog, a cat, a goldfish, a hamster and rabbit all animals that children may be familiar with. They are good realistic colours. These puzzles are made of a thick durable recycled board. The surface is a wipe clean one. These individual 2 piece puzzles are shaped around the outline of the pictured animal no straight edges. There were a couple of pages giving tips on how to improve your cat?s IQ which amounted to telling you to play with your pet. They had some dodgy looking statistical tables showing the predicted distribution of cat IQ scores, note nobody has actually tested cat?s IQs on a large scale so they have just copied a bell curve data into the book! The book costs around £4 from Amazon and supermarkets but really it is not worth the money. I know non cat people buy these books for cat owners as a lazy no thought gift but I really wish the would stop, I?m sick of getting cat related tat for presents! Ok, the book will bring a few minutes of fun and put a small smile on your face but the book will soon end up in the charity shop if you buy...

Pet Voyageur - used for cats

...We bought this pet carrier when we adopted a rather large cat from a rescue centre and they were selling these at the rescue place. The Pet Voyageur is very sturdy and roomy enough for our 6kg cat, so should also be room enough for small dogs to be comfortable too. The door opens at one side and is locked by stout latches at one side and unlike many other pet carriers the door does not come off completely when the ?body? is in one piece. The Voyageur does separate into two pieces (three if you include the door) and unlike the clips that most pet carriers have, this has easy-lock screws, which make the carrier feel much more robust than some of its other counterparts.
