Possibly the best vacuum i've owned!
Review of electrolux velocity 1700w pet lover, vacuum by
littlemisslynz
Advantages: Picks up brilliantly, even on wood and tile flooring, good value for money, easy to use.
Disadvantages: A little heavy, hose is too short for stairs
...I always buy very cheap vacuum cleaners, so its no surprise really that they seem to give up after about 6 months! I bought this vacuum from a discount website, and it was still less than £90 with postage!
It came to me with very simple instructions, and I had it together within 15 minutes. I had been without a vacuum for about 4 days (a long time in the world of pets and children!) so tried it out immediately. Being 1700w, I had expected it to be quite loud, but was pleasantly surprised to find it was no louder than my old cleaner, which was only about 1400w!
It picked up everything effortlessly, and the crevice nozzle took care of the skirtings, under the sofa and between the cushions with no problems at all. I found it to be a little less effective on ceramic tiles, but not terribly so, and it was still much better than other...

A Pet Vacuum that fails the test for pet owners
Review of Proaction VC356-6 PETS by
AngelaC99
Advantages: Reasonably good when used upright
Disadvantages: Hard to empty, turbobrush gets clogged with fur, poor suction
...Did the people who designed this hopeless product test it with pet owners? Within just two uses, the turbo brush became so clogged with cat hair that it hasn't worked since - and what's more, there is no way of opening up to get the hair out. The attachments have little suction. The hose fits into the main body but the attachments get in the way, making it very hard to screw in and even harder to get out. The attachments also fall off their fittings regularly during vacuuming and I spend half my time searching for them. Although the top is supposed to come off somehow for emptying, I haven't managed to get it off yet, and neither has anyone else I've asked for help. This means that I empty it via the bottom dust trap. However, the cat hair wraps round the filter at the top of the tube and I spend ages trying to drag it out...

Vacuuming sucks: How to buy a vacuum cleaner
Review of Member Advice on Vacuum Cleaners by
DaisyRose
Advantages: Consideration of all features will make the search easier.
Disadvantages: Vacuuming is still a useless and horrible task, regardless of what you buy.
...in a clean bag.
• Depending on how many kids and pets you have, and how often you clean, a bag will hold the pick-up from several whole-house cleanings.
• Attaching and detaching them can be easy or messy, depending on how well-designed the machine is. But most modern machines use bags that are designed to fully contain the mess, so there’s no spillage when you detach them.
• High-end vacuums have some sort of indicator light that tells you when it’s time to dump and replace the bag. It’s important to pay attention to it, because the fuller the bag gets, the less power the machine has to suck up more dirt. That’s because on most bag machines, the dirt is deposited into the bag from the bottom, which means that the resident dirt has to be kept airborne. In newer styles, the dirt is detoured up to the top of the bag, where it falls...

Vax V006 turboforce upright vacuum cleaner
Review of Vax V-066 TurboForce Power Bagless Upright Vacuum Cleaner by
leversidgem
Advantages: bagless, long flexible pipe attached, very long lead, good at getting up pet hairs
Disadvantages: cleaning filter, noisy, overheats
...This cleaner arrived in a box in three pieces, the instructions were not very clear but the pieces were simple enouch to work out how they should be assembled. On first use the main thing noticed was the noise, this is not a quiet vacuum for when the children are in bed. The turboforce and rotating brushes were brilliant at lifting the pile and picking up the pet hairs, fantastic i thought, but shame abouth the sound.
The cable is very long so from one room to the next it is very easy to move without having to relocate the power supply. All was well although with such good pick up the waste container was soon ready for emptying. This can be a messy task as the filter needs taking out and manually tapping until it is clear of debris. Don't do this in the house or all your hard work is wasted.
Unfortunately after what seemed...
