Delightful Dudley

Advantages: Witty, funny, and brilliantly performed
Disadvantages: Too short and maybe a touch TOO funny

...almost, but not quite, border on what I would call 'lift music'. If honest, I would have to wonder out loud whether I like them because it's Dudley Moore, and out of appreciation for the skill involved rather than their musical content. Next we have a track entitled 'Lillian Lust, the Babe With the bust'. Good title - I was crying laughing before it started. Very good for putting the listener on your side! Disappointingly, this is more 'lift music' than the others, but has a very obvious sleazy element - strikes me this may have gained its title one drunken night at the piano.... was Peter Cook in the room?! The last three tracks all came from the Bedazzled soundtrack which Dudley wrote. Track 7 introduces track 8 'Legend', known by the Orchestra as 'leg end' as Dudley tells us. Gary Moore plays Peter Green

Advantages: Peter Greens skill is rediscovered in the form of Gary Moore
Disadvantages: None

...I saw Peter Green & Fleetwood Mac in the late sixties and Gary Moore is the first guitarist that I have heard play his songs, where you could shut your eyes, and be transported back to that concert. This is my experience of Peter Green and also Gary Moore whom I saw play "I loved another woman" at the MEN Manchester. If you love good music albeit the Blues and want to hear it played by actual musicians then "Blues for Greeny" is for you. Lots to do at Dudley Zoo!

...Dudley Zoo first opened in 1937, and now stretches over 40 acres. The zoo is located a short walk from Dudley town centre (located in the West Midlands), and is not far at all from the bus station. There is no train station in Dudley but there are buses that run to and from many different places in the West Midlands located near by, including Birmingham and Wolverhampton. There is also a small car park next door to the zoo. Located on a hill, the castle is the remains of what was once a great building. The zoo is built around the castle and you automatically get free access to the castle upon entering the zoo. As it is located on a hill, there are some steep ramps and climbs in places which will make it difficult for wheelchair users to access. I have long been a fan of Irish music, and a fan of protest songs, from John Lennon to The Clash, so it is fair to say that I have a fair collection of Irish protest music, some of which has a distinctly anti-British feel. Before anyone slates me for writing a review of well known IRA sympathisers' songs, many of which are very supportive of the IRA cause, let me say this. Like it or not, there has been a conflict between the British and Irish for hundreds of years, and the troubles of the 70's and 80's were not new. ...The latest book to head my way is none other than 'RSPV', written by author Tara Moore. Now when I first saw the book I had no idea what it was going to be like. I had never heard of Tara Moore before so her style was going to be completely new to me. However, the cover of the book itself is incredibly attractive. All we see is the neck and lower face of a woman, with a large glittering necklace around her neck. Now for ages I thought this read 'RSUP', and it wasn't until I went to find out more about the author before reading did I realise that this necklace actually read 'RSVP'. Peter Kaye : volume 1?

Advantages: Funny family chap
Disadvantages: No celeb stuff

...The book, like the retro comic in question, is a simple and honest read. No long words or pretentious reasoning, just one man telling his story. They say you should only write what you know, and that is exactly what Peter has done here, quite literally! Everything he ever did, however mundane, seems to have ended up in this book, and for that reason alone I don?t think this will appeal to all, especially as he doesn?t include his rise to fame and celebrity, the reason why most people would spend a preposterous £18.95 on it, the autobiography abruptly coming to halt just as we get going. Maybe its part one of his autobiography. Who knows? Maybe he feels guilty about his fame and fortune and by telling more funny stories on his homely normal life is enough for the Jolly Bolton boy for now, working class guilt getting the better of him...

Advantages: Easy watching, some good acting and great vocal performances

...This is one of those films that nobody else seems to have heard of and - up until a few years ago - neither had I. Indeed, I have my passion for 1980s pop music to thank for my knowledge that this film even exists. For reasons I don't even remember, I came across a website listing the lyrics to Tears For Fears' mid-eighties hit Everybody Wants To Rule The World and whichever page I viewed mentioned a variety of films, TV programmes and albums that the song featured in. One of these was Peter's Friends . . . so I admit it, I first watched this film because one of my favourite songs was part of the soundtrack! He actually was not initially going to try out for the television talent show, he was at the auditions to support his brother but, after some pushing from his brother, decided to audition too. A good decision, because he became the winner of the seventh season of American Idol in 2008. David Cook is classified as a Rock, singer-songwriter. His sound is definitely very rocky, but in my opinion quite soft rock. He has a very deep, raspy voice that lends itself very well to this type of music.
