WEST FIELD SHOPPING CENTRE DERBY

Advantages: COSTLY
Disadvantages: OUT PRICING SMALLER OUTLETS

...Recent talks on cutting spending and new shopping centres are not well-matched with each other. Yes we love these new shopping centres and plush surroundings, tempting everyone to spend all their well earned money. But are we tempted? This is the multimillion dollar question. I love to shop like everybody else and buy new things like any other normal person would, also to have a good choice. So my idea of shopping is the traditional high street. Traditional high street shopping is where you will find the best choice and a variety of shops to suit everyone, Building huge shopping centres takes up space of any town or city and is becoming really outdated and boring. Today another shopping centre opens its doors and it is mammoth like those of Gates Head in...

Inspiring Capital,Inspiring Shopping Centre?

Advantages: Very Clean, Easy to get around, Lots of Space
Disadvantages: Too few shops, not on two levels, not that easy to get to

...The Gyle Shopping Centre in Edinburgh which opened in October 1993 is one of 4 main shopping centres in Edinburgh. The others are Cameron Toll, St James Centre, Waverley Market(Princes Mall) and Ocean Terminal. There is also Westside Plaza but this isn't exactly what you call a main shopping centre and Straiton park,Craigleith(The Quarry) and Fort Kinnaird are all Retail parks. The Gyle is a approx a 10 minute drive from Edinburgh International Airport by car/taxi. It is approx a 30 minute drive from the City Centre depending on the time of day and the route you take to get there as it is often very congested nearby due to it being directly opposite Edinburgh Park(Home to the RBOS headquarters and a whole host of big companies) .The area round the Gyle is mostly businesses and there is are many houses nearby within walking distance...

The Centre MK

Advantages: Vast range of stores
Disadvantages: Some duplicate stores

...This Review is for the Centre M.K which is a huge shopping centre in Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire. The shopping centre is managed in two parts, the first being the Centre MK and the second a place named Midsummer Place. The actual opening date for the shopping centre was September 25th 1979 and has over 260 stores inside. This might have changed quite a lot since the current recession and stores shutting down. This will be an insight to what the centre has to offer and what you can find there. Opening Hours Monday - Wednesday 09:30am -- 06:00pm Thursday - Friday 09:30am -- 08:00pm Saturday 09:00am -- 06:00pm Sunday and Bank Holidays 11:00am -- 05:00pm Layout The centre is laid out extremely well. You walk in through a door which is numbered. This door is the way back to your car. Every so often you find...

De Bradlei Wharf Shopping Centre

Advantages: Discount goods, nicely laid out
Disadvantages: None

...Location The De Bradelei Wharf in Dover, is located in Cambridge Road which is just off the main A20 dual carriageway. It is only a ten inute walk from the train station and a fifteen minute walk from the main bus station. It is about a five minute walk from Dover Town Centre market square. De Bradelei Wharf This shopping outlet is built in the historic Wellington Dock area of the town which is just behind the sea front with ample pay and display parking. If you buy something in store, the cost of your parking will be refunded. The cost of the pay and display is £2.50. There are plenty of disabled parking bays too. The entrance is constructed on decking which runs the full length of the complex on one side. Here you can sit outside and enjoy the hanging baskets which are put out in the summer months. The De Bradelei Wharf...

Easy Shopping

Advantages: All undercover and easy to navigate.
Disadvantages: Plan ahead if you need the toilet!

...Unlike a lot of women I am really not that keen on shopping. I like to go every now and again and have a really good shop; I do not like popping to the shops every week like a lot of my friends. For this reason when I do decide a serious dose of retail therapy is required I like to go somewhere where I will have lots of choice and that I can be pretty sure will yield everything I need. I actually live between Oxford and Aylesbury, I rarely shop in Oxford as I have to use a bus because of extortionate parking and it is always too busy. Aylesbury is ok but the selection of shops is small. This means when I need a substantial shopping centre I hop in my car and drive an hour to get to Milton Keynes in Buckinghamshire. Getting There Getting to Milton Keynes is quite straightforward from most directions by car and it is well...

Review of MK Shopping Centre (Milton Keynes)

One of the first out of town shopping centres and still popular

Advantages: Indoors, warm, wide variety of shops
Disadvantages: A little dated after over 20 years

...The metro centre is a very large out of town shopping centre, and was one of the first out of town shopping centres in the UK. It is all indoors, with individual shops accessed from galleried walkways. It is quite complicated to navigate due to the size, but there are maps on every corner. Since then the site has expanded and there are now many separate shops such as IKEA, ILVA, ASDA, furniture shops, Pizza Hut, etc. These are all located outside the main metro centre complex, there is a shuttle bus between the different stores, as once outside the main metro centre you are faced with a fairly baffling car-led road system. Within the metro centre there is a cinema, lots of restaurants and bars, the shops (of course!) and a big indoor theme park to keep the kids amused while you do your shopping. There is a huge variety of shops, great...

Good shopping centre

Advantages: city centre location
Disadvantages: somewhat dirty

...The Victoria Centre in Nottingham has the better shops than the Broadmarsh (its rival just down the road). It is however only a small part of the nottingham shopping experience. There is a wide range of well known shops in the Victoria Centre and a small indoor market selling meat, fish and other goods. It is a shame that smaller, independant shops have moved out to make way for the bigger fish. The Victoria Centre has 120 shops and stores, including John Lewis and House of Fraser. There is also a wide selection of cafes and restaurants. The Victoria Centre typically attracts over 450,000 visitors a week, and can get very busy on a saturday. As well as opening 7 days a week, with late night shopping on a Wednesday, Victoria Centre has 2,700 covered parking (although parking isnt cheap). I like the Victoria Centre as it has some...

In and around Peterborough

Advantages: its easy to get the train into london
Disadvantages: flat countryside

.... The population of Peterborough is about 160,000 and expanding with new homes and businesses. There are several venues for business conferences. The river Nene flows through Peterborough When I was 18 my second date with my bfriend now husband was rowing on the Nene. There is a rowing club based at Ferry meadows for serious rowers but we just hired ours for an hour we were not members of a rowing club. There are a couple of swimming pools in Peterborough and some sports centres.A ten pin bowling club and a roller skating rink There are a few wildlife conservation areas Ferry meadows is good. Peterborough has a central library and there are branch libraries in some areas of town There is a museum and an art gallery the museum supposed to be haunted by an Australian First World War soldier. There are guided Ghost walks through the town...

Review of Peterborough in General

Maybe it's time I stopped knocking Peterborough!

Advantages: Beautiful building packed with historical significance
Disadvantages: It's in Peterborough - enough said

...I grew up just outside Salisbury and like most others in that location, I was successfully indoctrinated in the belief that there is no better architectural splendour on God's good earth than Salisbury Cathedral. My childhood was punctuated with afternoon field trips filling out work sheets, annual school carol concerts playing my clarinet very badly in the school orchestra and even two weeks of so-called post O'level 'work experience' playing in the cathedral shop. All these and more conspired to fill me with a sense of my home city's superiority in the cathedral stakes. By contrast Peterborough took on something of a bogey-man city status. As a student I would endure awful minibus journeys across the country to play ice-hockey at the Peterborough Ice Rink in the wee-small hours of the night. It seemed to be a place riddled...

Marriott Hotel Peterborough

Advantages: Clean & very comfortable, good location, nice food
Disadvantages: None

...We stayed at this Marriott Hotel in Peterborough for the night about a month ago now because we had been invited to a friends wedding there at the hotel. This hotel has 162 rooms and it is a 3 star hotel. The location is really tranquil and the hotel is surrounded by really nice pretty gardens and large green fields. We paid £90 for a double room and we got a discount for being guests at the wedding, i think breakfast is at a small extra cost but im not 100% sure so you would need to chack this. Its set within 11 acres or so of grounds adjacent to Peterborough's Main Business Park, we found this hotel really easy to find and very well signposted. We found the staff to be really friendly but extremely professional and helpful at all times. We got checked in really quickly and within 5 minuites we were in our room...
