...A nice plain English op on a car. I purchased my Peugeot 406Hdi rapier Saloon in December 2001. Only the second brand new car I had ever purchased. The first being a Peugeot 305 a few years ago. That car had given me many trouble free miles so I thought I would stick with them. I suppose it?s a bit like the devil you know. As a cab driver in London it had to be a diesel car. Economy is the Number one rule as saving money these days is so important. There was a company in Scotland offering the best deal so I phoned, and arranged delivery. My Peugeot!

Advantages: Great Looking, Agile, Fun.
Disadvantages: Diesel, Horrible seating position!

...frequently goes off when letting people in on your side, which can be annoying at times, especially at night or when trying to make a quiet exit! *Interior and seating* Peugeot are not known for their brilliant interiors, and as you would expect, this is not any different, the seating is pretty average until you go to use it. The way the seats are positioned is ridiculous, and getting the drivers seat in the correct position for you can be a chore at times, especially if you share the car like I do. The method of moving the seat forward to let people into the back seat of the 3 door version is very awkward nd fragile, as we have discovered many times previously, when it has broken or ceased to function correctly. Other than this it is pretty average inside for a car of its type, the back seats fold down quite well, ad you get the dashboard...

...i have been a peugeot owner for over 5 years now and have to say how happy i am with the car itself. I own a peugeot 306 xsi, it has a 2 litre 16 valve engine, which is pretty much exactly the same engine as in the renault megane 2.0 16 valve sport cars. (which incidentally is not as fast on a track from personnal experience). When searching for the ideal car for me, i narrowed it down to two in the same catagory of small sporty hachbacks, the volkswagen golf gti and the peugeot 306 xsi, (roughly the same insurance, price etc etc...). Obviously in the end i decided upon the peugeot, admittedly it was based on looks alone! this is a fantastic looking car as im sure anyone would agree, well after the 1997 facelift anyway, but when you start to drive the car itself you will be glad you bought one. great ride comfort in seats that hold you...

...After reading the awful experience of Peugeot dealerships by a previous contributer I just had to share my own experience of my problems with the Peugeot Dealership of Evans Halshaw on Roseville Road in Leeds. I have been a customer for nearly 10 years initially due to having Company Cars that required service and then latterly with privately owned vehicles. I traded my trustly 406 in for a 407 in May 2007 and that is where all my problems started. This site is not big enough to record ALL my grievances suffice to say that I had tremendous problems in the first three-six months of ownership ranging from false promises to not even receiving the spec of car I thought I had purchased!! Every time I rang to speak to the person who had previously dealt with me I found that they had 'left the company'. This happened at least FOUR times...

My Peugeot 205 GT

Advantages: Retro, Vintage, easy to drive

...I am a new driver of only 1 and 1/2 months, 17 years old. I passed my test on the first attempt, which surprised the hell out of me. Fortunately, my dad had already bought me a car for my birthday about 3 months before. This car was my very own Peugeot 205 GT (G reg). It's a sort of slivery blue, 5 door. I have to say that I whole heartedly love this car, it is actually my favourite posession, so I thought I would write a review to reflect how it does from a first car point of view. Firstly, safety: I have to admit that the fact that it doesn't have any airbags does bother me. I also get worried about the alarm, as it doesnt have one, but that could easily be fixed by getting one fitted. PEUGEOT 106 INDEPENDENCE, IT REALLY IS A SUPERMINI

Advantages: Cheap 2nd car/easy on fuel/cheapish tax!
Disadvantages: Bit cramped in the back on long journeys

..., but then again that is what this car is all about. Boot space is reasonable as well, with plenty space for your weekly shop. What's more, Peugeot's retain their value - so you wont lose too much when it's time to part company with it (aawww...) Interesting points to note are that it's insurance group 3, co2 emissions 145 AND 6 months tax is only a piddly £57.75. A full tank of fuel costs me between £25 - £30 and for this I average about 350 miles! (loud gasps from the readers..), 60 brake horse and 0-62 in a mere 14.9 seconds (o.k. not lightning I know, but reasonable for the engine size). The colour choice for the Independence is fairly decent ... Sahara Yellow (goldish yellow) Moonstone (silver/blue) Firedance (burnt orange) Cypress green (racing green - this was my choice!) Funky Little Peugeot

...After many happy years with the Renault Megane coupe (see previous op!) it was time to trade in and get something a bit newer. After looking at many, many cars, we finally chose the Peugeot 206 1.4 LX (although Ciao call it a 1.3?) okay, it's a 1360cc engined car. Let's not split hairs eh? We opted for a 2000 W reg automatic 3 door in metallic blue, and picked one up from our local Peugeot dealership for a bargain £6,495, with 26,000 miles on the odometer (wow, what a great word!). True, you can pick them up a little cheaper, but finding an automatic can be difficult at the best of times, unless you're buying a Jaguar of course, and finding one in as good a condition as ours is even trickier. My previous car, a VW polo, nearly as old as I was at the time (19) had just given up on life and I decided to buy a secondhand C reg Peugeot 205 diesel which was ideal to get me from Dorset to Bath, where I was at university, and back again. With plenty of room in the back to carry all my gear up to the halls of residence and plenty of room for bringing my dirty washing back home to my parents.
