...I was forced into a purchase of another car as I had wrote off my previous one (Peugeot 106). As I had liked my old car I decided to get another Peugeot. Originally, I had wanted a second hand 307 but was lured by the free insurance and looks of the new 206 Sport. I really like the look of the 206 Sport. The interior is very nice also, with the red and black trim. The one damper though, is the istrument panel with the stereo and air conditioning controls. It just looks out of place against the rest of the interior. It's as if they did a great job with the rest of the car and then suddenly they only had half an hour left to design the instrument panel! PEUGEOT 206 1.4 - The Dark Secrets...

Advantages: Good-looking, good flexibility of back seats, user friendly dashboard.
Disadvantages: Safety is negotiable - brakes skid, 1st gear is weak

...PEUGEOT 206 1.4 FEVER 3dr PETROL (REG '04) I was so surprised to see that on my first visit to the Peugeot section of Ciao, the reputation of the Peugeot 206 is so high. Maybe I'm the one unlucky owner of one, or maybe Peugeot have assigned their employees aliases with which to trail the web and sing the car's praises. I'm not going to slate the car, just describe my observations of the vehicle from my experience, so that hopefully, you would reconsider if you like. I bought mine in June '04 from a Warwick Wright Dealership in London, with only 12.1 miles on the clock. New enough, so I was happy, as every car has test miles. Later on I would make my assumptions that maybe the Stig from Top Gear did my road test for me. Peugeot 206 Look (AC) 3DR

Advantages: Nice looking Car - very nippy!
Disadvantages: Awful, awful, awful - would never buy again!

...I wanted a 206 after having two Peugeot 205s which were reliable and fantastic little runners - I thought the 206 would be the perfect upgrade. I choose the Look - a special edition which gave extra features - Air Conditioning, metallic paint, CD player, dual airbags plus more. I also had ABS added on as an extra - which was a must for safety. It is a lovely looking car and when working is a fantastic and nippy drive - I loved it - until things went wrong! Day one - the indicator unit broke - apparently a common fault. First month - leak in passengers footwell - more like a flood - again a common fault. Leak in passengers foot well and under back seats - windscreen resealed. Intermittent electrical faults - hard to prove - but the believed me eventually - faulty interior lights and headlights not turning on/off. Coil...

Peugeot 206cc

Advantages: nippy and a convertalbe
Disadvantages: expensive parts and labour

...i'm not going to give the Specs you can get them of a website, this is what i think of the car. I brought a peugoet 206cc last year for my girlfriend,so far its not been to bad to us The 1.6 has some kick behind. i got 120mph out it with the roof up. the peugeot has a hard ride to it, the roof works well folding back in about 45 second, streering is quite responsive. The rear seat are a waste of time unless your a child under 7, have had 5 adults in the car on the way home from casino but it is one of the most painful things to do in life. The boot space is good with the roof up and there is some with the roof down. Get a warranty its a must, parts for it are expensive, the roof hydrulic pump went on ours and would have cost us £3K to replace...

206 SW - Reasonable enough, but lacking power

Advantages: Midrange estate
Disadvantages: Underpowered

...We recently went on holiday to Cornwall, and rather than face the 12 hour drive from Edinburgh, decided to fly to Exeter, and hire a car. We ended up with a 206 SW 1.4 - which was a little smaller than what we'd originally ordered, but were reasonably happy with it as basic transport. Unlike the photo (I hope to add some of the car I got, shortly) this is a five door model. The car we got had a 1.4 litre fuel injection engine, with power steering and air cnditioning, it wasn't a top priority, but when the temperature climbed to the 30s - that's 90s in old money!, we were more than grateful! The car itself was described as an 'estate' - I think that was perhaps overstating it - my preference would be to describe it as a 'squareback' - having a 'boxy' back end. First impressions were that it was reasonably well equipped...

Peugeot 206CC

Advantages: Affordable convertible with a metal, auto roof
Disadvantages: Unreliable

...I have had the exact experience in Perth, Western Australia. I purchased a 206cc 2L in Dec 05 and it has been towed back to the dealer 3 times, the most recent being yesterday (11 Sep 2008). The 3 faults on the display are "Catalytic converter fault, ESP/ASR Not Functioning/Anti Pollution Fault and the engine and ESP indicator symbols are lit on the dash. The warranty ends in 3 months and the dealer has given me assurances every time that it has been fixed, only to fail again 6 months or so later. This time they replaced the battery and expect me to beleive that it's going to be ok. Ha! Do a search on the internet, there are countless threads relating to this exact same problem. What will it take to prompt Peugeot into acknowledging there is a real problem? I paid $45,000 AUD for a new, reliable car and all I've had is problems. It...

Funky Little Peugeot

...After many happy years with the Renault Megane coupe (see previous op!) it was time to trade in and get something a bit newer. After looking at many, many cars, we finally chose the Peugeot 206 1.4 LX (although Ciao call it a 1.3?) okay, it's a 1360cc engined car. Let's not split hairs eh? We opted for a 2000 W reg automatic 3 door in metallic blue, and picked one up from our local Peugeot dealership for a bargain £6,495, with 26,000 miles on the odometer (wow, what a great word!). True, you can pick them up a little cheaper, but finding an automatic can be difficult at the best of times, unless you're buying a Jaguar of course, and finding one in as good a condition as ours is even trickier. The Peugeot 206 Look... Looks great!

...Well, i am now approaching the end of my first year with my rather wonderful Peugeot 206 and i think i have definately found not only the drive of my life, but the love of my life! I went to my local dealer, being John Pease Peugeot in Braintree in Essex with my heart set on a 206, but it had to have air conditioning and free insurance. After speaking to a extremley helpful and friendly salesman and going for a test drive, i decided on the Look model in metallic agean blue. Not only did i get 2 years free insurance and free metallic paint, the dealer threw in as a bonus free alloy wheels and window tinting, so i was well impressed! So i got a great looking brand new car for only just over £8000. I only had to wait 2 weeks for my car, and was kept well informed by the dealership of everything, right down to the numberplate details...

Problems with peugeot 206 gti

Advantages: superb car you feel safe
Disadvantages: see my bad points

...ive owned a peugeot 206 gti Sp for 9 months on a t registration Good points Super engine, pulls very strongly from low revs with a noticeable boost above 4000 rpm, very strong but smooth acceleration right up to redline. Overtaking is no problem in any gear, changing down is not required unless showing off. Throttle response is instant both on and off. Around town the engine pulls very smoothly, and its all to easy to find yourself breaking the local speed limits. The gearbox has well spaced ratio's. Although fifth is a little to tall for town work, it is a very usable gear on the open road and not just an overdrive. The action of the gear stick is not the smoothest I have used, and I personally like a heavier spring feel through the gate, but the positive notch into position is handy when trying hard so you don't make a fool...

206 good for new drivers

Advantages: Cheap to run and insure, nippy
Disadvantages: Light, pedals too close together

...particularly good for newer drivers like myself. I was quoted £800 from Tesco, which was the cheapest I could find at the time. Although when I bought the car, it came with 2 years free insurance. I am not entirely sure, but I believe that it now comes with 1 years free insurance, road tax and RAC membership, if you buy brand new. Peugeot also offer reasonable finance programmes. The 206 LX comes with AC, power steering, electric windows, metallic paint and CD player as standard. Other good standard features are automatic windscreen wipers and automatic lights. Disadvantages are few and far between. The pedals are very close together, but this doesn?t take very long to get used to. I have heard people say that Peugeot electronics are not that great, however I haven?t encountered any electrical problems as of yet. In conclusion...
