Peugeut 206cc 2.0 - The drive of your life??

...I have owned my Peugeot 206cc 2.0 for eighteen months and so i've had plenty of time to get to know my car. Before i had a 1litre Volkswagen Polo, so i wanted something a bit more stylish and with a bit of a kick. The Peugeot 206cc has delivered that. I started looking for a new car, knowing i wanted a convertable and so i was looking for something attractive and modern but at a decent price. After looking at cars matching my criteria, i found the Peugeot 206cc was a step ahead of the rest of the field. So i now had to pick my model. I got the 2.0 litre model as i wanted to experience a new form of power. This i got. The car does 0-60 in just over 9 seconds, which is quick enough for any normal day to day driver. My 2.0litre model had the full works; air con, leather seats, power steering, c.d. player etc... and i'd recomend...

...My first surprise was a dealer let a 17 year old that passed his test 2 weeks ago, drive an 05 plate 2.0 litre Peugeot 206cc. Given I look older, and he didn't check the date of birth on my license, but I am glad as it really was a delight to drive. Room in the back is hugely limited, although for short journeys it would be acceptable, especially considering the type of car. The 2.0litre engine provides a nice amount of power and its a nice nippy car, comfortably leather seats, the roof reclines easily (although I will admit this is the first convertible I have ever been in so it may have been easy or hard compared to others). The one disappointment with the car with regards to the roof, is, in the boot there is a wire mesh which needs to be pulled across the boot (obviously to protect luggage) but if this is not pulled across...

My PUG 206 2.0 L HDI

Advantages: Good engine and good looks
Disadvantages: Plastic interior

The model I have has 5 spoke Peugeot alloy wheels. These give the PUG a sporty look and add to the overall appeal of the car. Other PUG's that don't have the alloys don't compare in terms of aesthetics in my opinion. I think that all 2.0 L versions come with spot lights at the front of the car which is a good thing as they certainly help to widen the beam of light on the road during foggy conditions. ...I have had the exact experience in Perth, Western Australia. I purchased a 206cc 2L in Dec 05 and it has been towed back to the dealer 3 times, the most recent being yesterday (11 Sep 2008). The 3 faults on the display are "Catalytic converter fault, ESP/ASR Not Functioning/Anti Pollution Fault and the engine and ESP indicator symbols are lit on the dash. The warranty ends in 3 months and the dealer has given me assurances every time that it has been fixed, only to fail again 6 months or so later. This time they replaced the battery and expect me to beleive that it's going to be ok. Ha! Do a search on the internet, there are countless threads relating to this exact same problem. What will it take to prompt Peugeot into acknowledging there is a real problem? I paid $45,000 AUD for a new, reliable car and all I've had is problems. It...

Disadvantages: Body roll which makes it feel like you are driving on top of a giant flan

...make up in (I am a 31 year old male). The ride is good but I feel they could have tightened the suspension a little as it has a lot of body roll when cornering and feels like the suspension is made of jam (driving anywhere feels like you are driving on top of a giant flan). Mine has a 2.0 litre engine and I found the 1.6 to be too sluggish and not quite powerful enough for the car. My only real complaints are ? 1 The visibility through the rear window when the roof is up is quite poor which makes reversing nerve racking experience. 2 The car is annoyingly noisy with the roof up. 3 Peugeot themselves are a nightmare to deal with. My heater broke and when I took the car in to my local dealership they fixed it but then the heater was stuck on full blast plus the indicators had stopped working as had the remote locking. ...ive owned a peugeot 206 gti Sp for 9 months on a t registration Good points Super engine, pulls very strongly from low revs with a noticeable boost above 4000 rpm, very strong but smooth acceleration right up to redline. Overtaking is no problem in any gear, changing down is not required unless showing off. Throttle response is instant both on and off. Around town the engine pulls very smoothly, and its all to easy to find yourself breaking the local speed limits. The gearbox has well spaced ratio's. Although fifth is a little to tall for town work, it is a very usable gear on the open road and not just an overdrive. The action of the gear stick is not the smoothest I have used, and I personally like a heavier spring feel through the gate, but the positive notch into position is handy when trying hard so you don't make a fool...

...I purchased a secondhand stationwagon (52 plate) from a dealer after weeks of searching. I must say that it's the best car i've ever had. The handling is excellent , you can feel the feedback straight away, and it's not deducted by being the estate version either. The car has remote central locking and an alarm, which isn't standard on all models, so check that yours has. Performance: The 2 litre diesel engine is another boon, lots of low down power and you wouldn't really believe the car only has 90bhp. Acceleration from standing is good and when the turbo kicks in it flies along. 0-60 is around 13 seconds and top speed 113 but it's between 35-80 where the car excels. If you thought that diesels were sluggish think again. Diesel rattle is there at standstill but with the car moving,the noise is nothing that you wouldn't get in...

Advantages: great looks, fuel economy and performance
Disadvantages: had lots of problems especially with the electrics

...down to me but I have never had this problem before in many years of driving different cars Despite all this I still liked the car's performance and opted for a new 307 rather than a 206 when the lease was up (these were the 2 I had to chose between). However if I had bought the car myself I would not have been happy with the number of problems and recalls. I was lucky that if there was a problem I was just given another car until it was fixed, I had no bills to pay and a fleet manager to fight my battles. I don't know whether this was just a rogue car or not but I do know that the electrics on the column were a problem in the first chround of 307s. When we bought a second hand car just before Christmas there was a 307 in with the same problems and I shared my experiences with the garage. I wouldn't like to suggest anyone does not...

...I was forced into a purchase of another car as I had wrote off my previous one (Peugeot 106). As I had liked my old car I decided to get another Peugeot. Originally, I had wanted a second hand 307 but was lured by the free insurance and looks of the new 206 Sport. I really like the look of the 206 Sport. The interior is very nice also, with the red and black trim. The one damper though, is the istrument panel with the stereo and air conditioning controls. It just looks out of place against the rest of the interior. It's as if they did a great job with the rest of the car and then suddenly they only had half an hour left to design the instrument panel!
