New model Peugeot 307 much better than old one!

Advantages: great performance and fuel economy
Disadvantages: haven't found too many disadvantages yet!

...I have had a new look model Peugeot 307 since Noember 2005 having previously had one of the orginal 307s. I have had the car from new but did not buy it as it is a company car leased from Peugeot Contract Hire. It is a three door hatchback diesel HDi 90bhp with manual transmission. Personally I don't like having just the three doors which I find is very inconvenient but I am not on a high enough grade to merit 5 - not the cars fault, this! My first 307 had a 1997cc engine and I was only allowed to have this one which is the new engine 1560cc/4 cylinder. This worried me as I thought it would be underpowered so I checked it out with several garages who all said this new engine was even better and when I drove it I thought it was a lot better too. I have found it to be very fast and economical. I do a high mileage with a lot...

Review of Peugeot 307 1.6 HDi

Peugeot 307 Rapier 2.0HDi (90bhp)

Advantages: great looks, fuel economy and performance
Disadvantages: had lots of problems especially with the electrics

...I had this car from new but did not buy it myself as it was a company car and rented from Peugeot. It was a 52 (October 2002) registration and I had it the full 3 years of the lease and I was the main driver with my partner driving it occasionally. This review is based on the fact that I did 20,000 plus miles a year and quite a bit of motorway driving. The car was: 5 door hatchback 90bhp 1997cc 4 cylinders 8 valves Insurance group 6 Road tax band C Manual transmission I'll start with the good bits about it. ! I loved it's looks and colour - aegean blue. It was roomy and comfortable and the performance was superb as far as I'm concerned. It's supposed to do 111mph but I doubt it would but it would happily go along at 90mph - which, of course, I never tried! Very few similar spec cars used to pass it on the motorway...

Peugeot 307 HDI (90) GLX 2002

Advantages: Good Looking, Plenty of space in the front
Disadvantages: Poor quality interior, Poor engine performance

...Over the last few weeks we've been considering changing our main car from a 406 to a 307. The reason being we need the easier to use boot space of a hatchback. As such, we went to test drive a Peugeot 307 HDI (90) GLX over the last weekend. Having owned a 406 for a couple of years we expected to find the same good quality interior and engine performace as we were used to. However, the interior of the 307, despite being a reasonably high spec model was clearly inferior to that of the 406 and was badly worn even though this car had covered a similar mileage to our own. The engine was equally disapointing and although being exactly the same as that in the 406 lacked any real acceleration and was very noisy for a modern diesel. Seating space in the front was good and well laid out although the back was cramped for adults. Boot...

Flywheel woes with Peugeot 307 HDI

Advantages: Roomy
Disadvantages: Expensive when goes wrong

...Hi all, I have an '02 plate Peugeot 307 110 HDI with 48,000 miles on the clock. We are the second owners of the vehicle which has always been serviced at the main dealers. I took my car in last week as it was squeaking and guess what? - Thats right the flywheel is on its way out. The cost of a repair will be over £1000, OUCH. I emailed Peugeot UK about this and got the following reply from their customer services manager: "May I first of all say how sorry we were to learn of the problems you have had and we do offer our sincere apologies. We would not use the terminology ?inherent problem? or ?obvious fault? and although the flywheel is often thought of as a key component or structure of the engine it is in fact part of the clutch system and a wear type item. The flywheel contains a shock absorber type element as well as...

Peugeot 307 SW 1.6 HDi SE

Advantages: Versatile seating, economy, comfort, noise levels, low ved, low insurance
Disadvantages: middle seat 2nd row 3rd row cramped, don't buy if you carry larger kids!

...We foster 3 youngsters, have a grandson and stepgrandson, we decided we needed an occasional 7 seater, eventually settling on the 307. Used as a 5-seat estate, it's pretty roomy. Bit cramped with 7. The rear 2 seats are ok for little people, or for a lift to the pub, but I wouldn't want to drive down to the south of France, or even the south coast, in the third row. It's versatile with the seating, the rear 5 can be configured many ways. Stowage is limited, there are drawers under the (fully adjustable) driver and front passenger seats, "map" pockets on the backs of the seats, and reasonable door pockets. There's nowhere to stow your road map properly though. The "glovebox" is a bit small, but it's air conditioned (for keeping drinks cool apparently). I was surprised how quiet it is, and taken aback by the performance of a 1...

Review of Peugeot 307 SW 1.6 HDi

Peugeot 307 1.6 HDi

Advantages: Looks good, great interior, well equipped, good mpg
Disadvantages: cold chrome gearstick

...I purchased this car 2 months ago having traded in my 2003 SEAT Ibiza TDi Sport which was giving me trouble. Because I had been used to the 130bhp and almost 50mpg the Ibiza gave me I wanted something different, but still with these attributes. So, I opted for the 1.6 HDi version of the 307. This gives 110bhp, and although its 20 bhp less than the Ibiza the power delivery is much smooth and more progressive. The 307 HDI is a full blown turbo, so it doesn't suffer nearly as badly from "turbo lag", meaning it pulls well in all gears from as low down as 1000-1200 rpm. It is also incredible quiet when stood as it ticks over at less than 800 rpm (meaning you don't sound quite so much like a tractor as other diesels) The 307 is a mid-sized family car and will easily seat 5 people (even the 3-door version I have - its very easy to get in...

Peugeot 307 SW HDI90

Advantages: It has excellent fuel consumption 50.4mpg in short trips
Disadvantages: storing the seats when not in use

...Brilliant I can't say anything more! We part ex our old 306 estate for this 307sw with extra seats it accomodates all 5 of us a double pram and our dog brilliant. It has excellent fuel consumption we can do 50.4mpg in short trips which round cornwall is brilliant. It comes with air conditioning and the panoramic roof is excellent for inquisitive children We also like the design of the seats as they can be moved around for optimum space for all passengers, unlike other people carriers the seats are removeable instead of folding into the floor space. Although this comes with disadvantages of storing the seats when not in use. The inboard computer lets you know the oputside temperature and if it gets below 3 degrees will give an ice alert warning. All in all this is an excellent car...

2004 (54) Peugeot 307 1.6

Advantages: Very spacious, great family car with Air Con as standard!
Disadvantages: Electrical problems, plasticky finish and high biting point on the clutch

...I bought this car second hand. It was a year old with only 8500 miles on the clock when I purchased it. The reason for going for the 307 was really based on space and ease of driving. The 307 gives great headroom and storage space - we can easily fit in a pushchair, travel cot, 2 suitcases and all sorts of other stuf in the boot while still being able to see out the back. Also, the standard features, suc as Air Con are a great bonus. My wife is only 5'2" and can find problems with visibility with some vehicles. However, with the 307, they have built in extra windows near the wing mirrors which, when combined with the ability to move the driver seat anywhere you want it, virtually eliminates this problem. I do have a couple of bug-bears though: 1. Electrics - this has been well documented. We have had the internal fans...

Problematic Peugeots 307 2.0 Xsi

Advantages: Stunning looks (Especially in Aegean Blue)
Disadvantages: Poor build quality

...Lovely looking car and being top of the range has all the goodies, sadly let down by poor build quality.Overall ride of the car is good if somewhat "heavy" due to the sports suspension.Power could do with a tweak as the 2 litre engine does not set the heather on fire in terms of performance. Some dodgy build quality with door handle mountings falling off along with trim on drivers door and rear boot.Fuel gauge AND computer not reliable as my car will run out of fuel with 68 miles still showing on the computer and the fuel gauge still above red. When fuel level does get low there is a smell of fuel in the cabin which is not nice. Peugeot dealer couldnt find anything wrong and suggested "Well if you smell fuel, just top up your tank" ........errr...yes, great idea! Economy is poor around town (20-23mpg) although on distance runs good...

Review of Peugeot 307 2.0

307 SW 2.0 HDI

Advantages: Lots of toys, the SW version I have has a nice sun roof
Disadvantages: economy, falling to bits

...snaps off Car locks itself if you slam the doors ( even with the keys in the ignition) in summary this is the WORST car i have ever had the misfortune of choosing as a company car. Last week I got made redundant so the PUG is on its way back, and although I am sad to be unemployed the fact that I dont ever have to drive the piece of crap, falling apart clowns car of the 307 has made me a little happier. Peugeot say in there latest adds that "playtime is over" maybe if the 3rd year primary class had built this car, rather than playing with fuzzy felts it would have turned out a little better than the unreliable, nailed together faulty french piece of scrap metal i am about to wave goodbye to....
