My birthday pressie a Peugeot 406

Advantages: loads of additional extras
Disadvantages: I don't really like it

...Two weeks ago my husband and me were looking for a new car. My old Vauxhall Vectra had died on me, when the gearbox dropped out of the bottom on the way to my friend's house....Soooooooo embarrassing, especially when it was lunchtime outside a high school. Anyway enough about that embarrassing moment. So we were looking for a car, I had always liked the Audi A4 but they are very expensive. My husband told me about the Peugeot 406, I had a look at one and thought there quite a nice shape. So we started searching on-line and in the auto trader for one. Peugot 406lx - addendum to prev. op

Advantages: comfy, attractive, good ride
Disadvantages: no major

...I drive a lease vehicle, which I keep for 3 years. Having been given the choice of around ten "rep" type motors I opted for the Peugot 406lx petrol this time around. I drove a Mondeo for the last term. I have nothing bad to say about the Mondeo, but after renting a 406 on an overseas trip I was hooked. French cars in general ten to have a "softer" ride and comfort level. Having a bad back this was one of my considerations. After almost 12 months of driving the 406 and some 35000 miles later, heres my view. A comfortable ride over long distances, i.e 850 miles from Zeebrugge to Trieste in around 11 hours, sometime wellying along the Autobahn, others just plodding. I felt quite comfortable throughout. If I am not in too much of a hurry I can acheive 40 mpg plus at 80 mph-ish, by monitoring the mpg reading on the digital display...

A Worthy Estate car

Advantages: reliable spacious, good performance
Disadvantages: build quality could be a little better

...I now have experience of three Peugeot 406s , two have been saloons and now I have a 2.0litre Hdi estate. In total I have probably done around 100,000 miles in the 406 models. After two petrol models I now have a diesel with the 110 bhp common-rail diesel engine. The 406 has always been an attractive well-proportioned car and recent changes to the lights front and rear have given it a more aggressive posture. It is a comfortable car with seats neither too firm nor too soft and an adjustable steering column to help get the right driving position and importantly for the best view of the instruments. The interior trim is of a satisfactory standard and well equipped including passengers air-bag as well as a drivers air-bag. I have a minor criticism in that the body does not resist knocks and creases well so after a year the car looks...

Practical, fast and sexy? Surely not.

Advantages: Head turning looks, practical,comfortable,good build quality,genuine all rounder

Fell upon this car by accident and like most, never intended to buy a Peugeot. But let me introduce you to the Peugeot 406 SE 3.0 V6 Coupe. My BEST car ever by far! The look; It's sleek looks designed by Pininfarina himself (most noted for designing Ferrari's) turn heads wherever you go. As you would expect from this designer, every asthetic detail has been thought about giving the coupe the look of a car twice its price. The power; The 3.0 litre V6 engine gives you power whenever you need it and just keeps on pulling through the gears. Superb family car

Advantages: Very spacious, very comfortable car. Reasonable performance, and good fuel economy.
Disadvantages: Nothing significant.

...I bought a Peugeot 406 two weeks ago, and I am absolutely delighted with it. It is an excellent value-for-money family car. The interior is very spacious, with plenty of room for 3 large adults in the rear (also 3 full seat belts, not lap-straps). Even with the front seats fully back, there is bags of leg room in the rear. The front seats have enormous leg-room, and the interior height is very generous - I am 6'1" and I have headroom clearance of over 5 inches! The seating is VERY comfortable both front and back. The drivers seat has foreward/back adjustment, seat height adjustment, and back sloping adjustment. The rear view throught the window is adequate, but the wing-mirrors give a superb view astern, and of vehicles alongside. ...What's in a name you may ask? Well the Peugeot 406 Coupe hardly conjures up the same images as Ferrari, Porsche or even BMW. Images of a dull saloon car are associated with the 406 marque, however if cars were bought on looks alone then the 406 Coupe would perhaps have been up there with the great. Aesthetically this car is very pleasing to the eye the Pinifarina lines remind the observer of Ferrari, and even after 5 years on the market it still looks fresh and modern.
