Peugeot 307 Rapier 2.0HDi (90bhp)
Advantages: great looks, fuel economy and performance
Disadvantages: had lots of problems especially with the electrics
...I had this car from new but did not buy it myself as it was a company car and rented from Peugeot. It was a 52 (October 2002) registration and I had it the full 3 years of the lease and I was the main driver with my partner driving it occasionally. This review is based on the fact that I did 20,000 plus miles a year and quite a bit of motorway driving.
The car was:
5 door hatchback
90bhp
1997cc
4 cylinders
8 valves
Insurance group 6
Road tax band C
Manual transmission
I'll start with the good bits about it. ! I loved it's looks and colour - aegean blue. It was roomy and comfortable and the performance was superb as far as I'm concerned. It's supposed to do 111mph but I doubt it would but it would happily go along at 90mph - which, of course, I never tried! Very few similar spec cars used to pass it on the motorway...

Peugeot 207 1.4 8v 75bhp M:Play Special Edition
Advantages: Sports Styling, Sports Seats, Spacious, Bigger Boot Than 206
Disadvantages: Sluggish on Motorways, Dont expect to leave a lot of cars behind at the Lights.
...I have a M:Play 2008 Model Peugeot 207. From new these cars are very nice to drive. Nice and spacious, Smooth acceleration, Smooth gearbox. Air Con is standard, White Dials (same as on GT Model) as standard
The Price was good as with some haggling you can get one for £9500 brand new.
Nice, fun drive around town. Motorways bit boring as not enough power to accelerate from 60-70+ in 5th gear quickly.
Fuel economy is very good. Ive done 5000 miles mostly town driving and my avg MPG is 35.2MPG.
Approx £45 will fill this car up with 95 Unleaded and will do good for 300+ Miles.
Advantages: Sports looks, Sport Seats, Spacious, Feels like a bigger car.
Disadvantages: 1.4 8V 75BHP Engine is pretty weak on pulling although 0-60 in about 15secs is good enough. No options for additional parts or products available at factory...

Practical Peugeot.
Advantages: Reliable, economic, practical.
Disadvantages: None
...A nice plain English op on a car.
I purchased my Peugeot 406Hdi rapier Saloon in December 2001. Only the second brand new car I had ever purchased. The first being a Peugeot 305 a few years ago.
That car had given me many trouble free miles so I thought I would stick with them. I suppose it?s a bit like the devil you know.
As a cab driver in London it had to be a diesel car. Economy is the Number one rule as saving money these days is so important.
There was a company in Scotland offering the best deal so I phoned, and arranged delivery.
A week later my shiny metallic China blue Peugeot 406 car arrived.
I like a largish car that?s comfortable. I like reliability and economy fuel consumption. Speed is not that important, I suppose functional is the best description.
The Peugeot 406 fitted my needs on description, but...

My Peugeot!
Advantages: Great Looking, Agile, Fun.
Disadvantages: Diesel, Horrible seating position!
...frequently goes off when letting people in on your side, which can be annoying at times, especially at night or when trying to make a quiet exit!
*Interior and seating*
Peugeot are not known for their brilliant interiors, and as you would expect, this is not any different, the seating is pretty average until you go to use it. The way the seats are positioned is ridiculous, and getting the drivers seat in the correct position for you can be a chore at times, especially if you share the car like I do. The method of moving the seat forward to let people into the back seat of the 3 door version is very awkward nd fragile, as we have discovered many times previously, when it has broken or ceased to function correctly. Other than this it is pretty average inside for a car of its type, the back seats fold down quite well, ad you get the dashboard...

Pete the Peugeot
Advantages: Looks, comfort, price
Disadvantages: None in particular
...~~**~~ Peugeot 206 S 1.1. 3DR~~**~~
First of all let me explain something - I've not got a clue about cars and the lingo that is unfortunately synonymous with them, however, I do feel I'm qualified enough to talk about comfort, driveabilityness and whether the free mats were worth arguing for.
In the beginning I had a mini (a real mini) that was my pride and joy. A hand-me-down from granny who unfortunately decided to purchase it unbelievably in diarrhoea colour hence it was known as the Poomobile and the whole of the county recognised her - it was great. Regrettably, her floor fell through and she went to the great scrapheap in the sky. After a period of mourning, I had a number of small cars after that - fiesta (fell apart), 106 (brother drove it into a tree), yaris (god I hated that car) and another mini that was the death...

Peugeot 207 - taking you for a pleasurable drive!
Advantages: Smooth and safe ride, pleasurable to drive, good economy
Disadvantages: None really - see review for minor "niggles"
...the second from the bottom. As the lowest range spec car didn't come with an option of having air conditioning in it at all and as this was on my list of "wants", I had to go for the next model up - the "S" in order so that it would come with air con. The "Urban" is the lowest spec car, the "m:play" being the next one up from the "S" and finally there is the "Sport".
I was fussy back then you see! I bought my car in September 2006 - just when the new "56" registration plates came out. I bought my car new from a Peugeot dealer in North Wales. Amazed at being offered £4000 part ex for my little (much missed!) 1.0 litre Corsa, I simply had to go with them!!
My Peugeot obviously comes equipped with a 1.4 litre engine (petrol in my case) and has 75bhp so is ample able to nip about. (Which is exactly what I wanted!) Being used to my little...

Peugeot 205
Advantages: Good handling and nippy.
Disadvantages: Realiability
...I owned a 205 GT H reg 1991 85bhp which had a 1.4 TU3S engine and a twin choke carb for 3 years.
This was my second car after owning a 1.0 fiesta i remember going for my first drive in it, it seemed so fast because i was not used to a 1.4.
It handled like a go-kart and was quite a nippy little car because it was so light, good fun to drive especially down the lanes. The engine was totally reliable but the same could not be said for the rest of the car although it was a very easy to maintain and all the parts were cheap for it from GSF. I always managed to get home though so it never really failed on me.
Fuel econemy was quite good getting 40mpg when fully maintained and driving sensibly one good thing was you could put your foot down and it would never really drop below 30mpg anyway.
The Gear box was good and clutch was nice...

peugeot 306 xsi
Advantages: great looks, performance, reliability and value for money
Disadvantages: cheap, looking interior
...i have been a peugeot owner for over 5 years now and have to say how happy i am with the car itself. I own a peugeot 306 xsi, it has a 2 litre 16 valve engine, which is pretty much exactly the same engine as in the renault megane 2.0 16 valve sport cars. (which incidentally is not as fast on a track from personnal experience). When searching for the ideal car for me, i narrowed it down to two in the same catagory of small sporty hachbacks, the volkswagen golf gti and the peugeot 306 xsi, (roughly the same insurance, price etc etc...). Obviously in the end i decided upon the peugeot, admittedly it was based on looks alone! this is a fantastic looking car as im sure anyone would agree, well after the 1997 facelift anyway, but when you start to drive the car itself you will be glad you bought one. great ride comfort in seats that hold you...

My first car: A Peugeot 309.
Advantages: Reliable, Spacious, easy to drive, cheap.
Disadvantages: Not a looker, becoming a rarity in the UK.
...that was a bit much but it seemed worth it. And the next day. We took her home.
******ENGINE******
As I mentioned earlier on my 309 has the 1.9 Diesel engine. A bit risky for a first car but I've always been a risk taker. As any car bore would know these engines are the best diesels around. Not fast but very durable. It only has about 80bhp but she pulls well, doesn't struggle on hills. Performance wise she aint quick. She mostly being driving around foot to the floor to get her going. But she can easily keep up on motorways.
******FEATURES******
She has the Zest trim level. One of Peugeot's many themed trim levels. And to be honest, it doesn't offer much. She has a push up sunroof, a casette stereo, immobaliser and 'Zest' themed interior. And thats it. But other models can have power steering, electric windows, electric mirrors...

Peugeot Dealership Leeds
Advantages: None
Disadvantages: Too many to describe
...After reading the awful experience of Peugeot dealerships by a previous contributer I just had to share my own experience of my problems with the Peugeot Dealership of Evans Halshaw on Roseville Road in Leeds. I have been a customer for nearly 10 years initially due to having Company Cars that required service and then latterly with privately owned vehicles. I traded my trustly 406 in for a 407 in May 2007 and that is where all my problems started. This site is not big enough to record ALL my grievances suffice to say that I had tremendous problems in the first three-six months of ownership ranging from false promises to not even receiving the spec of car I thought I had purchased!! Every time I rang to speak to the person who had previously dealt with me I found that they had 'left the company'. This happened at least FOUR times...
