Review of Peugeot 306 1.6LX

Advantages: Comfortable seats, quite nippy, nice styling,
Disadvantages: Thirsty Engine, Small at the back, Electronics failure, mechanical problems

...for the diesel because its far more economical on the long run and its got an adequete boost of performance. Comfort: The car for its age and comparing it with newer cars in the market is quite comfy, the seats are soft when you sit on them, and got right position, can adjust for height and recline back and forward also slide as standard. Steering wheel can be adjusted for height but not reach a possible down point for some drivers. All round view is quite good unless the car is fully laden, but i advise the 306 is only meant to be a 4 seater even with 4 people its a squeaze especially for the rear passengers because the roof is quite low, you can have five people but at a very tight squeaze. My car whilst driving is comfortable for an auto just be cruising, but i do take it around corners a little fast which makes the rear of the car slide out...

Peugeot 306 HDi Meridian

Advantages: Looks; Chassis; Reliability; Drivabilty
Disadvantages: Can be a bit heavy on front tyres

...I bought our 306 HDi for my wife. I wanted her to have a safe, reliable car, which is also easy for her to drive. I knew my wife liked the 306 (I used to own several as company cars) and the 306 Meridian is the best of the range. In the 2 years we've owned it, I have had the car regulary serviced. Apart from new tyre and brake pads all round, the only non service item the car has required is a radiator as the coolant level was dropping very slightly. It only cost for £100 to renew the part, so this hardly broke the bank Equipment levels are good. Electric windows, remote central locking, automatic wipers, air con, c.d. player, alloy wheels, 1/2 leather seats - everything that is needed in a car. I've upgraded the ICE to included a 10 stack CD player, which sits nicely in the boot. To drive the car is a delight - I don't Peugeot...

Review of Peugeot 306 2.0 HDi

Everyone should have one, Peugeot 306

Advantages: Economical, Cheap Insurance, Cheap to buy 2nd hand
Disadvantages: A Little dated now, but not much

...I have had my Peugeot 306 for almost a year now, and have had absolutely no complaints, apart from the fact that the windscreen got chipped on the first day (Thank you Mr. Micra, wherever you may be), and it now has a crack across 1/3 the screen on the passenger side mind you, and also a nasty knock a month into driving it. (Courtesy of Mr. Anglian Water, thank you too!) So apart from a frantic and painful first month of new ownership I have had no problems at all, with it and mine is 9 years old, and 3rd hand! My Peugeot was one of the first 306’s to be made, so just missed out on the standard sunroof and electric windows, but I am not in the slightest bit bothered, as I got mine for a very reasonable price of £2100, with a mere 56,000 miles on the clock, a CD player thrown in for free, perfect service history, and a funky...

Peugeot 306 1.6 Meridian

Advantages: Reliable
Disadvantages: As with most cars dealership repairs and servicing are pricey

...My 306 meridian has been in the family since its birth in 1996. It was an ex demonstrator and I can honestly say it has been the most reliable car any one of us has owned. It has never broken down (touch wood). The exhaust has only been replaced once in its life. Having said that my local peugeot garage is excellent (more than I can say for Vauxhall) and the car has been regularly serviced. By this I mean a full service at least once a year. The only fault it has had ,that has been a niggle, rather than an annoyance, is the pin which prevents the drivers door swinging back has popped out twice. The central locking has recently stopped working on the drivers door, but due to the age of the car I'm not surprised. It has over 114000 miles on the clock and still manages over 35 to the gallon (1.6 cc). Unfortunately due to...

Peugeot 306 best car on the road

Advantages: Large interior, Economic, Quick off the mark
Disadvantages: Doesn't like the cold

...The Peugeot 306 is the predecessor to the new 307. I currently own a Peugeot 306 1.9 Turbo Diesel. I have had this car for the past 4 years and have had no problems with it during that time. When anyone mentions the word diesel, the first things that come to mind are noisey, smelly cars that are really sluggish. I would usually agree, but this car is the exception. When you first sit in this car you would be suprised that a hatchback can be so spacious, but it is. Another suprise will be when you start the engine and hear it purr.....although it isn't as quiet as a petrol it has been padded enough under the bonnet to reduce the engine noise a great deal. Now take it for a drive, the seating and view through all the mirrors is perfect, and you pass through the gears with ease. It's not until you hit the motorway that realise...

Peugeot 306 XRDT - reliable but not the best

Advantages: Very, very reliable and fast
Disadvantages: Smokey!!! Plagued by electrical faults.

...I've just parted with the 306 XRDT (L-reg) which I'd had for just over 2 years. I loved it to bits, but in the end the expense to maintain it and certain faults outweighed the positive aspects, so it had to go. When I got my car it had done loads of miles - when I sold it, it had 147500 on the clock! Despite that, it started every time - and never broke down once. The driving position was quite comfortable, it had a really good stereo for it's age, and it had a lovely big boot. And I really loved the fact that once it had hit that turbo you were OFF!!!! Cheap insurance was another plus. As were electric windows, roomy cabin and the fact that I could do about 400 miles to a tank. Now for the downfalls..... The power steering only worked sporadically - ie it ALWAYS worked when you took it to the garage, but as you were parallel...

peugeot 306 xsi

Advantages: great looks, performance, reliability and value for money
Disadvantages: cheap, looking interior

...i have been a peugeot owner for over 5 years now and have to say how happy i am with the car itself. I own a peugeot 306 xsi, it has a 2 litre 16 valve engine, which is pretty much exactly the same engine as in the renault megane 2.0 16 valve sport cars. (which incidentally is not as fast on a track from personnal experience). When searching for the ideal car for me, i narrowed it down to two in the same catagory of small sporty hachbacks, the volkswagen golf gti and the peugeot 306 xsi, (roughly the same insurance, price etc etc...). Obviously in the end i decided upon the peugeot, admittedly it was based on looks alone! this is a fantastic looking car as im sure anyone would agree, well after the 1997 facelift anyway, but when you start to drive the car itself you will be glad you bought one. great ride comfort in seats that hold you...

306 GiT?

Advantages: Comfort, Extras, Performance
Disadvantages: Insurance, Reliability, Build Quality, Servicing

...Having driven a 15 year old Mark 2 Astra for the 5 years following the passing of my driving test and a change of job meaning I had a bit more money, I wanted a change of motor. Something sporty, somthing with a bit of oomph but with the convenience of a hatchback. I also wanted something no older than 3 years and preferably with average (or lower) mileage of around 36,000. Colour was no problem as long as it wasn't white. Add to this the upper limit of my budget (£8,000) and I was ready to hit the streets. Armed with nothing more than a Parkers used car guide and a couple of car magazines with reviews of sporty hatchbacks, I started to trawl the internet to see what was out there. Quick scans of the Autotrader and Exchange-and-Mart websites were encouraging. Peugeot 306s, Volkswagon Golfs, Renault Meganes and cars of a similar class...

306 Gti-6 - Buyers Guide and Facts!

Advantages: Great looks, performance and fun factor
Disadvantages: Reliability

...a lightweight, stripped out Gti-6, using the same mechanical underpinnings but losing luxuries such as electric windows, sun roof, leather seats, air conditioning and fog lights to name a few. This makes the Rallye 52Kg lighter than the 6, giving it a slightly faster 0-60 time. History: During the Gti-6s lifetime (1997 - 2002) Peugeot have made several revamps. The Phase 1 Gti-6 (01/02/1996 - 01/02/1998) was introduced with, ABS, air con, part leather seats, drivers airbag, 15" Peugeot Cyclone alloys, side skirts and spoiler. The phase 2 (01/02/1998 - 01/06/1999) has the addition of passenger and side airbags, leather/alcantara sports seats and a CD autochanger as well as receiving the facelighted 306 headlights, grille, front bumper, rear bumper, boot hatch and rear lights. The Phase 3 (the latest revision) includes crystal clear headlights...

Peugeot 306 1.8i XS 16v (1998 - Phase 2)

Advantages: Cheap to insure, Quick, Sporty, Fun to drive, Good Handling
Disadvantages: Expensive parts, Uses quite a lot of fuel

...insurance group (5 or 6) which is great, and its still very quick. The acceleration is pretty good, so is the top speed, and the handling is great. The stereo is very good for a standard factory fitted one. The speakers go quite loud without distorting. There is a little stalk on the steering column (just under the wiper arm) which can be used to change tracks/change station which is very handy. Before i got the car i didn't like the idea of having a 6 CD changer in the boot of the car, as you couldnt change the cd while driving. But to be honest it hasn't really been a problem (since 6 CD's is enough really). The interior is very nice (even though some people have reviewed it as being terrible and old fashioned). But i think it looks ok and is all laid out very well. Some 306's have very horrible patterns however, but mine is okay (black...
