Advantages: Looks good, great interior, well equipped, good mpg
Disadvantages: cold chrome gearstick
...I purchased this car 2 months ago having traded in my 2003 SEAT Ibiza TDi Sport which was giving me trouble. Because I had been used to the 130bhp and almost 50mpg the Ibiza gave me I wanted something different, but still with these attributes.
So, I opted for the 1.6 HDi version of the 307. This gives 110bhp, and although its 20 bhp less than the Ibiza the power delivery is much smooth...

2004 (54) Peugeot 307 1.6
Advantages: Very spacious, great family car with Air Con as standard!
Disadvantages: Electrical problems, plasticky finish and high biting point on the clutch
...features, suc as Air Con are a great bonus.
My wife is only 5'2" and can find problems with visibility with some vehicles. However, with the 307, they have built in extra windows near the wing mirrors which, when combined with the ability to move the driver seat anywhere you want it, virtually eliminates this problem.
I do have a couple of bug-bears though:

Peugeot 307 SW 1.6 HDi SE
Advantages: Versatile seating, economy, comfort, noise levels,low ved, low insurance
Disadvantages: middle seat 2nd row 3rd row cramped, don't buy if you carry larger kids!
..., and taken aback by the performance of a 1.6 diesel. Although top speed won't get your pulse racing (about 115), fuel economy around 55-58. 0-60 is supposed to be under 12 seconds, feels about right. Remember, many manufacturers are now using Pug diesel engines, so they must be doing something right with them.
