Boursin Soft Cheese - Yes Please !

Advantages: Versatile, tastes delicious
Disadvantages: Price, high in fat (except Light variety), moreish !

...I'd choose savoury over sweet any day of the week and Boursin is one of the products I almost always have in the fridge - it's so versatileand can be eaten hot or cold at any time of the day - it's pure heaven. (".) What is Boursin ? (".) Boursin is a soft cheese like no other; I can't stand Philadelphia for example but this is something different. It is smooth and creamy but not in a sickly way, almost fluffy in texture but it will also spread quite easily onto a cracker. Boursin is available in three flavours; Garlic & Fine Herbs - the traditional flavour and my personal favourite, Light Garlic & Herbs (no less stingy on the added ingredients but made with 70% less fat and 60% less calories than the original variety) and Pepper. (".) What is it made from and who is it suitable for ? (".) Boursin is made from the finest...

Review of Boursin Soft Cheese

Creamy cheese, gorgeous garlic but not one to ward off vampires

Advantages: Mild garlic taste but lovely creamy flavours and thick texture
Disadvantages: Price

...Whenever I hear 'Philadelphia' I always thick of the TV advertising of the 2 angels in heaven eating this soft cheese with crackers. I suppose that's the marking of good advertising. I have never actually tried the original Philadelphia but it is basically a creamy soft cheese manufactured by Kraft (a massive manufacturer of a whole array of food brands). I like flavoursome cheese and seeing as I love soft cheese with flavouring like garlic, chives, herbs etc...this looked really appealing - Kraft Philadelphian Light Garlic and Herbs.' By 'Light' they actually mean, less fat and calories than the original. It's not 'low fat' and the product even details it to be - 'a medium fat soft cheese with garlic and herbs.' There is still 47kcal, 3.5g of fat and 2.3g of saturated fat per 30g serving. I don't know how much a 30g serving rquates...

A Fresh and Light Soft Cheese from France

Advantages: Creamy Rich, sweet flavour Nice table cheese
Disadvantages: Very Few

...Boursin soft cheese really is one of the great French cheeses. It is best described as a modern, creamery, fresh cheese of cylindrical shape and it comes without a rind. It was initially introduced in 1957 in the Normandy region by one Monsier Boursin, hence its name. This delicate soft cheese has a distinctive fresh and light taste with a rich, sweet, flavour and there is a rather subtle hint of acidity about it. It is normally flavoured with the likes of garlic, herbs and pepper. It is used as a table cheese for spreading and bakery and features in a lot of recipes. For breakfast you could try it on a Mini Grilled Toast (Pain Grille) ,with a slice of Raisin Bread, a Croissant or with some Water Biscuits. For your midday meal how about Boursin Baked Potatoes or in evening a Stuffed Jacket Potato with Leeks,Cheddar and Boursin cheese...

Review of Boursin Soft Cheese

A Purely Subjective View of Cheese

Advantages: It says it's cheese and it is cheese, so 100% CUSTOMER SATISFACTION
Disadvantages: It's not very tasty cheese IN MY SUBJECTIVE OPINION

...Kraft Philadelphia is a high fat cream cheese that has been around forever. If you've never tried it, you'll know of it from the old extremely annoying adverts with those two dippy girls, and the current extremely annoying crop of ads with Caroline Quentin dressed up as an angel and making lascicious faces as the enjoys the supposedly semi-orgasmic experience that is eating Philadelphia. But back to the 'cheese': Philadelphia is sold just about everywhere and comes in a silver wrapper. It is thick, pure white in colour and extremely creamy in texture. It is popularly spread on crackers, crispbreads and digestives. The texture in the mouth is very creamy and nicely cool. However, it has NO TASTE WHATSOEVER. It does not even taste of milk. At least that's my opinion. To you, however, Philadelphia might taste like...

On the streets of Philadelphia

Advantages: Excellent performances, story and sound track
Disadvantages: None

...making to have challenged so many people to confront their own prejudices and ignorance. Dealing with the highly provocative subject of homosexuality and AIDS, Philadelphia does an excellent job of disbanding many of the myths surrounding both of the subjects. Not only does Philadelphia tell a powerful story of injustice, it is also a beautifully shot film, which has many scenes which will tug at your heart strings. It also allowed Tom Hanks to demonstrate that he was more than capable of performing serious roles as he had previously been better known for his comedy roles. There were some critics who suggested that Hanks was not convincing as a homosexual, what did they expect a bloke wearing lipstick, lycra and high heals. Part of the beauty of the film was that it attempted to destroy society's stereotypes of how homosexuals looked and acted...

Review of Philadelphia (DVD)

Less sinful than the full fat version

Advantages: -
Disadvantages: -

...Philadelphia is probably one of the better known cheese spread brands, and apparently its got good cause to be - as a brand name its been around since 1880, when the cream cheese was named 'Philadelphia' after the american city that was, at the time, thought to be the heart of fine dining and fine foods . Well, fine dining Philadelphia is not - but it is yummy . Coming in rectangular plastic containers, this creamy, thick, soft white cheese has a lovely mild flavour that tastes wonderful on toast, smoothed down the middle of a celery stick, or spread on top of a hot beefburger. Taste wise, its creamy and nice, but maybe a little bland . With this being a light version , it perhaps feels a little less sinful than the full fat version but theres no noticeable taste difference . However, its this blandness that makes Philadelphia so...

Review of Kraft Philadelphia Cheese, Light

kraft philadelphia xtra light

Advantages: Low Fat
Disadvantages: Negligible fiber content.

...is best used within five day's of opening the packaging. The product has a expiry date usually six month's to one year. The product is available in supermarkets and prices range from Tesco for a four pack of thirty five gram's, cheese and costs one Pound and thirty four pence. There is also a Original philadelphia version along with a Soft cheese, and garlic product available on Tesco supermarket shelves. I am aware that other supermarkets will stock these products and therefore Asda, Morrissons, Sainsbury's and lets not forget iceland will sell this product. The product is a fresh cheesy savoury taste very plain and ordinary. Though this is a product that has never left an unpleasant after taste that so many other cheese products I have tried before. The spread is very user friendly as it really does spread to bread, crackers very...

Review of Kraft Philadelphia Extra Light

Kraft Philadelphia Extra Light

Advantages: Just as good as the original and much healthier
Disadvantages: Expensive compared to competitors

...Kraft Philadelphia - A Little Taste of Heaven ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Why I buy Philadelphia ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I am a great fan of all things cheese, from soft cheeses to hard. I have always loved Philadelphia, whether it be the normal version, light or even extra light, I find no difference in quality between them. As I am currently on a diet the extra light version is perfect for me. The same great taste but better for you! And those adverts, although annoying look so tasty and always have me craving Philadelphia and they remind you that you can still have these tasty recipes with Light and Extra Light too. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ What is Philadelphia ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Philadelphia is a soft white cream cheese made mainly from milk. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ About Philadelphia Extra Light...

Review of Kraft Philadelphia Extra Light

A Creamy , tasty cheese for less!

Advantages: Full of taste, really creamy
Disadvantages: 314kcal/100g!

...The one Im reviewing is the ASDA SOFT & CREAMY FULL FAT SOFT CHEESE. 200G. A creamy-melt-in your-mouth-cheese that caught me by surprise. Creamy & pact texture. No water building on the side even if you leave it in the fridge for days. (as long as you keep the lid on tight and consume after 5 days of opening) To be honest, Ive always thought that when you buy the "leading brand" you always get the best taste or best quality. After all, you have to pay extra more. This product proved me wrong! So, if you prefer TASTE and quality rather than counting your calories. I highly recommend this. This has a whooping 314kcal/100g, Fat 30.0g/100g (Compare to Philidelphia Full fat original only 255kcal/100g, Fat 24.0g/100g). And because it's ASDA you expect to pay a little less. The 200g only costs £0.82p. Whilst Philidelphia, 200g is £1...

Review of Asda Soft & Creamy Cheese

Philadelphia Fan!!

Advantages: Taste great, ok for calories, great snack food
Disadvantages: Sometimes the 'dippers' can be too large to dip

...I only came about this product last week when shopping at Tesco's. I only noticed them because they were in special offer and since trying them, they have become one of my favourite snacks. Philadelphia Splendips are very similar to Dairylea dunkers but they also have a sweet variety as well as savoury. Philadelphia Splendips There are four varieties of Philadelphia Splendips. These are Thai Sweet Chilli, Chives, Cheesecake and Nachos. Philadelphia Splendips come in a container similar to Dairylea Dunkers except that they have three compartment rather than two. Half of the container if taken up with the 'dipper' section and the other half is split into two sections, containing cheese and then whatever flavour you have picked. The container has a foil lid which peels off and is easy to remove. The containers themselves are...
