Advantages: CHEAP.
Disadvantages: NOT MUCH FEATURES.

Disadvantages: Could be hard to follow for younger children.

...Philip Ridley was my favourite author when i was small. MY sister read me 'Mercedes Ice' when i was about 5 and I fell in love with it. I'm now 18 and that battered much-loved book is still on my bookshelf... Except now it is accompanied by every other Philip Ridley book, Including Mighty Fizz Chilla. The story is about a young boy called Milo Kick. Something happened to Milo (that nobody knows about but him) that cause him to transform from the perfect son to a difficult little monster practically overnight. His despairing mother sends him away to stay with a family friend. While there Milo becomes obsessed with the story of the mysterious Captain Jellicoe. Great author who can write up a storm...

Advantages: Adventure, Intruige and Fantasy in his books.
Disadvantages: Not all his books are of a high standard.

Advantages: Interesting and unique, superb writing and characters
Disadvantages: Not for you if you prefer plot to character-driven stories

...Philip Larkin is best-known for his poetry, although he wrote two novels: A Girl In Winter and Jill, both written in his mid-twenties. He was an interesting character, said to be obsessed with pornography and racist, although Martin Amis (Larkin was a close friend of Kingsley Amis) denies this.
