...I received the Philips 14PT 1556 for my birthday a couple of years ago, so I don?t know exactly how much my parents paid for it, but I believe you can pick one up for about £100. The TV itself has a 14 inch CRT colour screen, weighs 9kg, has mono sound output, an infrared remote control, and a one year warranty. This has proved more than adequate for the use in my bedroom, although because of the lack of stereo and small size I wouldn?t recommend using it as the primary TV in the house. The TV is modelled in metallic anthracite, has a modern curved design, with large functional buttons on the front. It can be tuned either automatically or manually using the supplied remote control or the buttons on the TV itself. ...nice. My Dad doesn't share the same opinion commenting that it is, 'Too arty-farty'. I'm not sure what he means by that, but that must just be his way of saying he doesn't like it. It is made using a bluey/silver coloured plastic, which gives it a modern look and feel. It goes well with our chrome fittings and modern decorative style in the kitchen. The actual television set itself, measures roughly 40 cm in height by around 40 cm in width. It is also just below 40cm in depth, so it is virtually a cube shape. It fits in well in the kitchen as it isn't too deep, the last one we had nearly touched the edge of the worktop and was very dangerous. The screen size is 14 inches diagonally accross. Philips 14 inches of pure joy!

Advantages: Relatively cheap, easy to set up / install, great pic and sound quality
Disadvantages: No individual sound control apart from vol

...Having just got rid of the old television I had to purchase a new one and ended up searching for endless hours on the internet and getting hopelessly confused and bogged down with information... Dyson DC14 Animal - A Good Buy

Advantages: Power, Specific for Dog hair and Allergies, mini turbine

...I have owned a DC 14 Animal with Hepa filter for 3 years now and bought it for around £300. I have had very little to complain about. We have a west highland white terrier and a small child so wanted to purchse the animal because of its specific performace on animal hair and the lifetime Hepa+ filter for allergies. This product does exactly what it says on the tin, powerfull and no loss of suction. In fact it still amazes me today to see how much dirt and dog hair the vaccum collects. This product has never broken and has been used three times a week over the last 3 years. It is a fairly quiet machine but has become more noisy over time. The product comes with a 14 stair long reach telscopic pole and mini vaccum turbine head. This is an excellent tool for use on stairs as the mini turbine head has its own built in rollers and brushes...

Dyson DC14 Allergy

Advantages: Powerful, doesn't lose suction and a wide range of optional extras
Disadvantages: I can't get on with the angled crevice tool

...I started out with the original Dyson DC01 but I was always convinced mine wasn't as powerful as my mums and didn't remove dog hair very well. After buying a new carpet I bought the DC14 Allergy at a special offer price a couple of weeks ago and I wouldn't be without it now. It almost takes the carpet up with it!! And it loves dog hair. It really does make vaccuuming easy. When using the pipe, it almost takes off but I guess you need to actually be holding it to believe it. The only thing I can't get on with is the angled crevice tool. I much preferred the straight one on my original Dyson. You can also buy a mini turbine head to attatch to the pipe (which I will invest in) which makes cleaning stairs even easier. The pipe is long enough to reach to the top of the stairs in one go. All in all, a fantastic cleaner....

...I bought this trimmer around a month ago after the battery in my old trimmer (also Philips) gave up. As I'd been happy with Philips previously I looked around and found that the choice was basically QT4020 or QT4045. At first I was somewhat skeptical about the idea of having a vacuum trimmer, but based on positive reviews I thought I'd give it a try. The idea also appealed to my other half who for some reason isn't a fan of finding the toilet seat covered in beard trimmings so I ordered from Amazon for £27.14. First impression is that unit is noticeably larger than my previous model, perhaps due to the added vacuum unit, but it's still perfectly manueverable. ...and colours. The feel of it is very comfortable on the hand and is easy to grip, due to slight ridges around the back of the shaver. This also makes it very comfortable and easy to hold, which i would say is one of the most important factors in something that is to be used daily. Also, obviously, it must be good at its job. Which this shaver is. It did a very good job, and was the closest shave i have ever had. I was previously using a gillette mach 3 razor and shaving foam. The Philips shaver eliminates the need for shaving foam, which i always found an annoyance. I think that the reason for the closeness is the fact that each of the heads vibrates/girates and moves independantly, meaning that they can move accordingly to each person's individual features. Moving around the jaw bone and cheek bones, means that it gets alot closer to the skin...
