...I purchased a 37" Philips plasma TV after looking for a wall mountable TV that wouldn't dwarf my living room but also wouldn't look too small. In the end my decision was made after getting a good deal at my local Co-op which enabled me to get a price match plus an extra 10% any high street price. The TV was advertised for £2300 in Comet and I took the brochure to the Co-op who incidentally had the same TV advertised for £2800. After the price match and obviously 10% off the TV cost me £2070, they then asked if I wanted a Philips DVD recorder for £69 which retailed at £269, I jumped at the chance. To make the deal even sweeter they also did 2 years interest free credit which I gladly accepted and left my cash in the bank making interest. Advantages: Good picture quality, good looks, easy to set up
Disadvantages: lacks integrated freeview, picture could be better

.... I feel the 17PF9946 perfoms very well in these two catagories. Picture quality , while not as good as conventional CRT, is very good. I was very impressed with the picture quality of the 17PF9946 and still am. There is pixellation usually but from a good distance back, it is not noticable. The colours of the television are natural and I have experienced no ghost images to date. Some competiting products have very poor picture. The other feature that helped me choose to buy this product was the sound quality. With the television build naturally being flat, sound with LCD televisions can be light, lacking bass. The sound quality of the 17PF9946 is good for a television, but I still perfer to connect it to my hifi for top range audio. For use in a bedroom, or small living room, the audio is very acceptable. ...I have a 15" widescreen LCD Philips TV, it was about £270 a couple of summers ago. I have had absolutely no problems with it. It has good picture quality, good sound and is rather stylish. he speakers are on each side of the screen and there are a couple of small lights at the bottom left speaker. The buttons are hidden along the top of the TV and are easy to distinguish and press. The connections are all hidden on the back under the TV tube, they are rather awkward to get to but easy enough to set up. It could do with another scart connection though. The picture is a bit fuzzy now and then, but I think that's the signal we get. Also, I do have a dead pixel and a small scratch on the screen that was picked up during transport. It also shows lines across the screen every now and then....

Advantages: Compact, Stylish, Sound.
Disadvantages: Small screen.

..., if you are at the wrong angle to watch it, it seems darker/lighter than it actually is. But overall the screen is good for watching most things soaps/general tele/sport/films. Although obviously its better to watch films on a bigger screen. The sound is very good quality. The inbuilt loudspeakers make much better sound that your normal/average television. However, i feel they are put to waste when you are just watching normal tele. I can think of better uses than Peggy Mitchell from Eastenders with loudspeakers. Its better for usage on things like Match of the Day or films. (Which the screen doesn't really facilitate.) It goes quite loud, but i never really go past 25 and have it on around 15 on average. ...Well after weeks of researching for a new tv, the worry of wether or not LCD or Plasma was a better choice. I decided to ask the advice of my friend whom is a tv engineer. he Told me to go for the plasma although there is nothing wrong with LCD he told me the bigger screens are better with Plasma. He told me for a good value for money TV which has lots of great features and superb picture and sound quality to go for this Phillips model. I cannot say much more that he was absolutely right it was a fantastic choice. The picture is breathtaking compared to my mums 42 phillips with ambilight and pixel plus2 technology. and unlike some plsma/lcd tv's the sound is great. most of these tv's have a very tinny sound. Advantages: Good choice of connections, great sound and picture
Disadvantages: Niggly scart and coax sockets

...I received this TV almost a year ago as a Birthday present. I can honestly say, you would be hard pushed to get a better 42" plasma TV for the price. As you would expect with a Philips TV you get all the features and more. There's 2 scart sockets and a DVI-I connection. I have had my laptop connected on this and the quality is amazing. Tip for you on this, buy a long lead of at least 2 metres! You are bound to need it unless you fancy squatting in front of the TV. The stereo speakers on either side of the unit are almost invisible and yet push out the volume very nicely. There's a lack of bass there but I'm no expert on that and its fine in my book. I have a 2.1 DVD player and a Sky box attached although I tend to use the inbuilt Freeview much more. I bet that if you hooked up a decent surround sound to this TV you would have...

The built in Memory Card Reader is a great feature too, to share photies on a large screen with family / friends I don't use the standby feature on this TV as I have found it to switch itself on all by itself - this may not be a common problem but I haven't got round to reporting it - yet therefore would be interesting to hear from anyone who has experienced the same issue. 42PF7621D/10 - Excellent Philips TV

Advantages: Great picure quality, ease of set-up and connectivity.
Disadvantages: Minor sound issue with certain bass frequencies.

...and the pictures are crisp, with very little motion blur. The pixel plus works very well and makes a big difference depending on the channel you are watching. There is also various digital noise reductions filters, I tend to have them all on maximum as it really does clean up the signal and improve picture quality. Connectivity wise it has everything, I am currently using a Philips upscaling dvd connected to the HDMI port and a HD freesat box connected to the other HDMI port. I also have a sky box connected through the SCART, and a Wii console via YPBC (480P). It handles my pc using a DVI-YPBC connection and camcorder through the phono connections on the side of the tv. Would there be anyone using this unless their signal strength is insufficient to enable a digital reception. DIGITAL TV: Very good picture reproduction. Comparable to more expensive models. SLEEP: Not straight forward. You have to go through atleast 5 keystrokes on the remote for the sleep function.
