...I received the Philips 14PT 1556 for my birthday a couple of years ago, so I don?t know exactly how much my parents paid for it, but I believe you can pick one up for about £100. The TV itself has a 14 inch CRT colour screen, weighs 9kg, has mono sound output, an infrared remote control, and a one year warranty. This has proved more than adequate for the use in my bedroom, although because of the lack of stereo and small size I wouldn?t recommend using it as the primary TV in the house. The TV is modelled in metallic anthracite, has a modern curved design, with large functional buttons on the front. It can be tuned either automatically or manually using the supplied remote control or the buttons on the TV itself. The TV of my dreams

...Before I bought this television I had a cheapo Beko 21" television. Guess what? Yep. It broke. So I bought the snappily named 'Philips 21PT4457 Television'. I bought it because I wanted a 21" TV with the highest spec I could find for the least amount of money, but not so cheap as the previous Beko TV. Since buying the television I have found that I use it for more than watching television. It is not only my TV but it is my alarm clock and also my radio. Yes - radio. The radio was one of my main reasons for buying it. I do actually have a hi-fi but I thought the convenience of having a radio on my TV would be worth the extra tenner or so that this TV costs relative to other 21" TVs. 21 - Counting cards pays off.

Advantages: An interesting story, more so because it is based upon fact.
Disadvantages: A bit predictable towards the end.

Even more so because the film is based upon fact. 21 is based on the book 'Bringing Down The House' by Ben Mezrich. What's it all about? The film is centres on the character of Ben Campbell played by Jim Sturgess. He is a student at MIT in Boston, who desperately wants to get into Harvard Medical School to become a doctor. Philips 14 inches of pure joy!

Advantages: Relatively cheap, easy to set up / install, great pic and sound quality
Disadvantages: No individual sound control apart from vol

  Self-hypnosis for beginners

...- The case of the TV is plastic. Plastic! It feels a bit tacky, although I suppose it's light to carry. The CRT itself is fine, as are the connectors and controls - it's just the surrounds that irritate. It's also worth noting that this is not the usually visible surround of the TV, but the rear section - the screen frame is much nicer :) * Unclear remote buttons - random symbols do not make me a happy boy! - Experiences I have really enjoyed using the Philips 14PT2666. I have a DVD player and a video, so while there's multi-connectivity issues, the TV is the simplest part of the setup. The picture is sharp, especially with high quality DVDs pumping through it, and the sound is superb. The TV itself allows you to tweak the sound to your liking, so that is fun. The ease of use of the TV has made for a headache-less viewing experience...

Panasonic PT AX 100 E

Advantages: Works in relatively bright conditions, quiet

...Updated review. I have been using the Panasonic PT AX 100E as my main TV, in conjunction with a freeview box and a DVD player, for just over a year now. I paid £900 for it then, but the price has dropped and even the improved PT AX200 can now be bought for about £700. The reason for the low rating is because of it's unreliability and Panasonic's inability to fix it when it went wrong, as described below. In all other respects it is a very good projector. The picture quality is extremely good in a dark room and quite watchable during the day even with the curtains open for all but the darkest movies. In bright conditions the colours can become a little washed-out although there are various viewing options on the remote control to compensate a little. For some very dark films however you should wait until the room can be blacked out...

Philips SoundMachine AZ102N - The Soundmaster!

Advantages: Good quality chassis, good sound quality, does everything for the price, looks nice.
Disadvantages: Inbuilt handle could have been better, silver version better than white -preference.

...I needed something to listen to while I worked at home, in the garden and in the office and I needed it quick. Paying a quick visit to my local Bennets I picked up the AZ102N, a CD/Radio by Dutch manfacturers Philips. Because I wanted something cheap and cheerful that would be subject to a few knocks I picked up Bennet's own brand £19.99 stereo which had unfortunately sold out, this was the next cheapest thing but I am glad I picked a reputable brand because it fulfills all of my needs as a radio and CD player. It was very well packaged with a power cable, instruction manual and cardboard packaging (very environmentally conscious there). The picture for this review is silver, mine is light blue and white which does not help with dust or grime. I feel the silver version would have hidden day to day scratches and dust better.
