Ready? Not Steady, GoGear

...Since my Creative FX200 died (never buying another Creative product again after my disappointment too with a 7-speaker set), I had been after an MP3 player which would make use of the rechargeable (AAA) batteries. The Philips GoGear SA2620 is a no-frills and no-radio MP3 player, and comes with a USB Cable stickered, "IMPORTANT - Install software first", but I doubt whether it's necessary to do so - surely you can just drag and drop without installation. The cap protecting the USB plug felt too loose a fit and comes off easy leaving this end exposed. The interface is quick and easy (I never needed to refer to the manual), however, following a battery change, the SA2620 is sometimes shown to be 'Updating' which can take a while. (It can't be a Windows update via Satellite can it?) 2GB memory is more than sufficient for me, but 16MB...

The "Philips GoGear SA1942 4 GB" is a good, cheap alternative.

Advantages: Easy Charging via USB, good sound quality and value for money.
Disadvantages: Headphones are easily breakable.

Ipod Shuffle 2GB

Advantages: Small, yet stores a lot of songs, does what you want it to
Disadvantages: Occasionally cuts off the end of songs

...Snazzy little device, very lightweight and does'nt take up much space wherever you put it, as it has a clip on the back you can attatch it to almost anything, so you wont have to worry about it taking up space in your pocket, the clip also comes in handy for people who like listening to music while jogging, cycling etc. as you wont have to worry about it falling out your pocket. The Ipod Shuffle 2GB is known to hold around 500 songs, depending on how large each track is obviously, i can fit roughly 480 tracks on mine. Its very streight forward and simple to use. You have two choices of how you want your Ipod Shuffle to play your music, either loop or shuffle, so it can either play each track in alphabetical order, or it will shuffle them about and play tracks....

...I originally had a Logik 3.3gb mp3 player which I thought was the bee's knees until it broke, although having such a huge amount of tracks on it could often cause me to spend about 20mins deciding what to have on! So when the on/off switch broke off leaving it absolutely useless I decided to take it back to the shop and exchange it for another Logik player... which they didnt have. Whilst in the shop I saw one of those teeny weeny Q-be mp3 players that are about the size of a dice and loved it, but again they didnt have any of those either.
