Advantages: Very easy to use
Disadvantages: Needs some sort of protective case

...I originally had a Logik 3.3gb mp3 player which I thought was the bee's knees until it broke, although having such a huge amount of tracks on it could often cause me to spend about 20mins deciding what to have on! So when the on/off switch broke off leaving it absolutely useless I decided to take it back to the shop and exchange it for another Logik player... which they didnt have. Whilst in the shop I saw one of those teeny weeny Q-be mp3 players that are about the size of a dice and loved it, but again they didnt have any of those either. After asking the sales assistant if the one on display was real or a dummy and if I could have it (it was a dummy) he suggested the Philips GoGear to me. I had a look at it and decided to have it, as it was the same price as the one I had previously had and saved me messing about...

Advantages: Fast load up, excellent battery life, good sound quality.
Disadvantages: Fingerprints show on touch pad, can crash, XP only, basic manual.

...I bought this 30GB mp3 player from ebay, not having high expectations for the product. I did some research and got a good price for it. The sound quality is good for any avid music listener. It has variable rates of quality for the mp3 (with variable bit rate and fixed bit rate avaliable from 64 - 320 kbps). It has different sound modes including Rock, jazz, pop etc. You can listen to wav/mp3/wma files, check out the jpeg's from your digital camera, and look at the album covers. There is also a recording mode, I have recorded a few things and have been surprised with the quality of the microphone/sound. The battery life has been exceptional, considering what I've heard of the ipod, I use the player everyday for 2-4hours and only have to recharge it twice a week. The finger control, which is touch sensitive is a really nice...

At the time the mobile phone MP3 players were pointless due to lack of space, being bulky, and basically rubbish quality meant a portable MP3 player for any music listener was a must. Looking around, there's always going to be the cheap gadgets on the market. I try and stay away for them because, even if they do what it says on the box, the actual quality of the amp on them is usually very bad quality, and they usually have poor battery life, which means charging them for longer than you're actually listening to them. ...I like listening to music on the go and have owned the first generation IPod Nano 2GB in black for over two years and have found it to be a brilliant piece of audio equipment that has taken away the need for a bulky stereo in my flat and lots of CDs in my car. I paid only £60 for my second hand Nano and I consider this to be something of a real steal, however the extras such as a protective jacket, docking station and cable for my car stereo really bumped up the outlay. The main point though is that it really was worth it. After installing the iTunes software onto my laptop I have been able to import 500 of my all time favourite songs and disco beats on my Nano. The process of uploading all of the songs did take a number of months as the software does take a while to read, copy and then transfer the data to the Nano but it is time...
