The Philips GoGear is a good mp3 player if you simply want to listen to music.

Not a good Mp3 player
Advantages: Memory is OK for the price
Disadvantages: Interface is awful
...that I did not use the correct software with this device (in turn because I found the software provided to be confusing and awkward), the others are certainly not.
The only real advantage to this Mp3 Player is that, for the price, you do get rather a lot of memory - 2GB should be more than enough for most casual listeners, though those who have large music collections may prefer ones with much larger memories. Another potential advantage is that it is comparatively small for an Mp3 with this much memory.
Overall though, it's definately worth spending a bit more for something a lot better....

Great MP3 Player - Simplicity and Elegance
Advantages: Looks great, airtight integration with iTunes
Disadvantages: Feels too small
...The new iPod nano looks great; you will be stunned when you open its amazingly small retail package. It is very thin, but feels sturdy in the hand. Some may find the iPod nano difficult to hold as I did. You will require a case for the iPod nano, otherwise it will become very scratched. Despite being called the 'chunky' iPod, I think that it looks better then then previous generation iPod nano.
The previous generation of iPod nano were more of a difficult kind of iPod compared to the other iPod. However this 3rd generation feels like a shrunk down version.
Features wise this MP3 player is great. Obviously it plays music, and will hold an average person's music collection. Video looks really sharp, if not small. However it is not suitable for widescreen video (16:9), as most the screen ends up being filled with black letterbox bars...

Philips GoGear MP3 player - go get one !
Advantages: Compact, great sound quality
Disadvantages: You need a PC
...need "drivers" (special files which tell the computer how to communicate with the MP3 player) - just plug it in and away you go.
Older operating systems (Windows 98 or earlier) will need you to install the drivers first but the Philips MP3 player supplies these on disc.
~~ What is in the box ? ~~
The Philips GoGear MP3 player comes with :-
- MP3 player (thankfully)
- plug-in ear phones
- lanyard to carry it around with
- external battery pack
- instruction manual and disc
~~ Features ~~
The MP3 player I bought was a 256mb version which I managed to fit 3 albums onto as some of the songs were quite long, otherwise I could probably have got another 5 songs or more.
The player displays the track that is playing which is handy if you want to skip to your favourite tracks.
The player recharges via your computer's USB...

Ready? Not Steady, GoGear
Advantages: Long battery life
Disadvantages: Playback not smooth, loose USB cap
...Since my Creative FX200 died (never buying another Creative product again after my disappointment too with a 7-speaker set), I had been after an MP3 player which would make use of the rechargeable (AAA) batteries.
The Philips GoGear SA2620 is a no-frills and no-radio MP3 player, and comes with a USB Cable stickered, "IMPORTANT - Install software first", but I doubt whether it's necessary to do so - surely you can just drag and drop without installation.
The cap protecting the USB plug felt too loose a fit and comes off easy leaving this end exposed.
The interface is quick and easy (I never needed to refer to the manual), however, following a battery change, the SA2620 is sometimes shown to be 'Updating' which can take a while. (It can't be a Windows update via Satellite can it?)
2GB memory is more than sufficient for me, but 16MB...

Phillips Gogear 512mb mp3 player
Advantages: charge time, simple to use, nimble.
Disadvantages: 16 hours of play only possible with large and annoying battery pack!
...I really wanted an MP3 player. At the time the mobile phone MP3 players were pointless due to lack of space, being bulky, and basically rubbish quality meant a portable MP3 player for any music listener was a must. Looking around, there's always going to be the cheap gadgets on the market. I try and stay away for them because, even if they do what it says on the box, the actual quality of the amp on them is usually very bad quality, and they usually have poor battery life, which means charging them for longer than you're actually listening to them. However, Philips have a good reputation, so when the Philips GoGear 512MB Player came on at a good price, I thought why not?
And I haven't looked back. At around £40, a 512Mb player was especially good. Good battery (up to 8 hours of play) and charging (takes about 30 minutes for total...

Technika MP-308 4GB MP3 player with FM tuner
Advantages: Wide range of features
Disadvantages: Difficult to navagate menus
...The MP-308 is Tesco?s current top of the range mini MP3 player with FM radio, and at 3p shy of £30 places it firmly in the budget end of the market.
Having very recently ?goosed? my previous player doing a firmware upgrade, I got mine as an impulse purchase.
It?s small ? about the same size as a lighter, and has a rechargeable battery, so running costs are minimal.
You get everything you need; the player, a USB lead, a pair of cheap headphones, and a set of paper instructions and a mini-CD.
In fact if you?ve previously owned an MP3 player, you can probably dispense with the last two items, the player supports traditional ?drag?n?drop? from your ?my music? folder.
The instructions suggest that it?s far better to use the application which comes with the machine, that way you can make playlists, catalogue your albums and so...

Samsung MP3 player, 2GB or 4GB
Advantages: Affordable, reliable, easy to use and transfer songs to
Disadvantages: memory may not be big enough for all people, pictures are slow
...Having had this MP3 player now for nearly 2 years, I have not had any problems with it. It is very reliable, never crashes, freezes etc on me, is really easy to put music on, and is at a very reasonable price, even the 4GB is very affordable and very durable, I have dropped mine countless times without any problems. Something you may not think of is that the screen is very clear and easy to use in all lights(brightness of screen can also be altered) and does not scratch easily. I would recommend this to people who have a large music library, but are often able to change the music on the MP3 player due to the 2GB only holding around 500 songs, and the 4GB holding around 1000 songs. Fits easily into ipod nano(older shape) pouches therefore good for sports etc. one downfall is that the picture viewer can be a bit sluggish, and I found...

SanDisk Clip... a great little mp3 player!
Advantages: Easy to use, reasonably priced
Disadvantages: Bad quality headohones
...I brought the SanDisk Sansa Clip 2gb black about 3 months ago from Amazon for £34.99 including postage and packaging.
Its is very small, just 2 inches long and 1 inch wide. It has a small display screen at the top, with blue and yellow text. The lower half of the device has a dial with play, pause, fast forward, rewind and stop. The volume controls and on/off and hold buttons are on the side.
It came in a box with the mp3 player, headphones, pc connecting cable and instructions.
I shopped around before buying as I wanted a small mp3 player, but didn't want to spend too much money. I considered the i pod shuffle, but decided against it as I didn't like the fact it had no screen. This is what attracted me to the SanDisk, and the fact that it is so easy to use.
It has 2gb memory, I have put quite a lot of music on it...
