A Good TV For A Good Price
Review of Philips 32PFL5522D by
Surj1
Advantages: Affordable, Good Variety of Connections, Simple to Set-Up
Disadvantages: Ineffective Surround Sound Mode
...The Philips 32PFL5522D is a LCD 32" HD ready TV. This TV is not one of Philips top of the range TV's from there new line. Saying that it does have some cool features, pixel plus being one of them and 2 HDMIs (for HD ready devices). You dont get the new Philips pixel perfect HD E-Processing or the new back lighting system which is introduced in the top range in this line. Then again the TV does only cost around £400-£450.
Philips though have produced a good looking TV, which sits on a black glass table top swivel stand. It has a glossy all black face with silver column and buttons to give it that extra touch.
The TV has speakers which are descreetly tucked in under the screen and the silver comumn has a neat built in loop to keep the cables and wires well hidden from view. This gives you an end result of a compact and organised TV...

pfc1010
Advantages: Great price Good picture and sound qualitiy

...If you are after one of the ultimate experience for your home the Philips 32PFL7562D has delivered. This LCD 32" screen with many features including HD ready for the highest quaility, Dynamic contrast enhancer delivering rich black details. The virtual dolby surround for a cinema-like experience. This product is compact and slim also matching stand with elegant design.
I decided on Philips as it seem to be quite good value for money and it had built in freeview which was great.
All the instructions are easy to follow and you can custom set up the television but found the factory settings to be just right. Its great picture quaility is so clear and crisp and the sound is amazing

A flawed offering!
Review of Philips HTS 6510 by
databust
Advantages: Doesn't require separate rear speakers for surround sound.
Disadvantages: No optical sound input. Booming base speaker that can't be toned down.
...quality pseudo-HD picture, but the slowness of operation when changing disks or media type is quite frustrating. The machine also goes through frequent phases of refusing to respond to the remote controller, and has to be switched off and rebooted to get it working again.
Bizarrely, the designers have not fitted an optical sound input, which means that many users will have to go to the trouble and expense of buying an adapter to convert the Dolby digital sound signal from their Sky box if they want to get digital surround sound through the Philips system Philips system. The instruction manual repeatedly implies that the scart socket can be used to input a Dolby Digital surround signal, but this is totally incorrect and misleading, and frankly makes you wonder if anyone at Philips knows what they're talking about. This is a digrace, and many...

PunksNotDead128
Advantages: 50 inch HD, plasma tv, amazing VFM, 2 HDMI, 15000:1 contrast ratio
Disadvantages: Sound not great
...One of Phillips most recent models and for the price it is superb!
The Philips 50PFP5532D is a HD ready plasma screen television and has a choice of a 42 or a 50 inch screen. This TV employs 'Pixel Plus 3 HD' and 'Clear LCD' image improvement technologies for clearer and more precise images than its competitors. Good for the price but...
Review of Philips 26 PF 4310 by
glen23
Advantages: Picture quality, HD ready, PC mode, compact, price
Disadvantages: Poor NTSC playback, 15:9, lack of features and adjustments
...The Philips 26PF4310 is a good affordable LCD television with some small to major issues which you might want to take into consideration before buying.
The TV has two SCART inputs and a DVI input. However only the first of the two SCART inputs will take RGB, the second won't even take S-video which makes it really only suitable for VHS. There is however a separate S-video connection.
There is also a DVI input via which the tv takes in any HD or PC signals. The lack of HDMI is not really a problem as HDMI/DVI cables are fairly easy to get and as I understand it HDMI is basically DVI plus audio. This means you have to connect the audio separately. I didn't have any problem with this though.
Via SCART the tv (or at least mine) does have a fairly major problem with NTSC (which it claims to be able to handle). There is excessive overscan...

PHILIPS FILTERLINE FOR STEAMY STYLE
Review of Philips HD4601(F) by
anneyo
Advantages: Can boil small quantities, ease of use and good looks.
Disadvantages: none
...Sleek, slightly ‘retro’ styling and stainless good looks attracted me to this particular kettle. The fact that it is cordless and easy to use was an added bonus.
Unlike some cordless kettles, where you have to boil a fair amount of water to cover the element, the Phillips Filterline HD4601 has an element which is almost flush with the bottom of the kettle, meaning you can boil quite small amounts. This is important for several reasons; economy of use, speed and weight. The weight factor is important to me because I have trouble with my wrists and find lifting heavy items can be troublesome.
Another really useful, and extremely stylish, aspect of this kettle is the handle. It is of a slightly textured, black synthetic material and is a wonderfully rounded shape. It is also big enough to hold with both hands which...

Review of Philips DVDR 7300H by
mjfuller44
Advantages: Guide+ (when it works), big hard drive, HD upscaling
Disadvantages: poor DVD burning, slow interface, regulary locks up and recordings fail
..., and discs must be finalised (closed) to be used on other players. Most recorded discs don't work well on other players (yes, they are finalised discs), and dual layer discs never have worked successfully.
Guide+ feature is brilliant as is the timer (works like Sky+). The iLink is used to change Sky/Cable set-top channel. Note, however, this usually fails for timer recordings, so you still have to set your set-top box to be sure. Unit has recently been suffering with complete loss of guide info and timer setups on increasingly regular basis.
Philips were pretty good at sorting problems during warranty period, but now simply suggest to me that unit is beyond repair and better to buy new one. Perhaps it is better NOT to buy Philips in future!...
